Oh Pokemon, I have been playing this game, since the original Red and Blue. For the Game Boy. I have always enjoyed these games greatly as well as the remakes. I still held on hope at some point they would remake Diamond and Pearl at some point, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. I'm not against them making new games. However, X,Y, Sun, and Moon are by far the worst that Pokemon has to offer. There's a lot I didn't like about these games, I do own them, even the Ultra Sun and Moon that came out and I still wasn't all to impressed. When Sword and Shield was announced, I wasn't to sure about it. Now with this new 'expansion' pass, I'm out.
I was already on the fence about having to pay online to use Mystery Trade. I'm still not a fan that the Switch can connect to the internet, yet if I wanted to play lets say Mario Maker 2, in order to play other people's levels I'd have to pay Nintendo 7$ a month to do so. Now its not the price that pisses me off it's just the fact you have to PAY for something that up to now has always been free on the DS, Wii, and WiiU. Why, I don't....never mind. Now I'm not against expansion packs, at all in fact my favorite still to this day is the expansion for Diablo 2, in order to face Baal. But when that came out, like a year later, it was only 20$. No this new 'expansion' for Sword and Shield is a whooping 30$.......on top of the still $60 price tag since this game just came out.
That's $90 dollars, if you want the full game....now I'm not sure if you have to pay for both expansions, or if it comes all together. But if not that's another 20$ for the other part......seriously. People were already kind of angry over the National Dex not being a thing. As of Sun and Moon, not counting the Pokemon added to Sword and Shield we are up to 809 Pokemon, so...I'll give them a small pass on that. It's not the first time A Pokemon game has started with a new line up. Ruby and Sapphire did this as well to give new players a chance to raise their own Pokemon rather then put up with people wasting tons of hours to breed the perfect Pokemon for online fights. It's a thing, to get the right nature and stats and yeah it goes deep. But as of now, I do not see myself buying Sword or Shield. I just...I can't. I can't support what Nintendo is doing to this franchise, they have been digging a hole since X and Y and I just don't see an improvement. I'd never thought I'd say this, but I'm done. Other then getting the remake they are doing for the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, I refuse to pay for this crap. Keep digging the hole, I'm done, I'll keep the games I have, but I won't buy Pokemon Sword and Shield.
