It didn't take long for me to realize that the person I was talking to wasn't my friend Karen anymore. It was Nebilim. According to Nebilim, this "foolish girl" is Abyssion's niece. He had given her family the scrolls long ago and told them to keep them safe at all costs.
After she lost in the colosseum she spent most of her time trying to get stronger so she could beat me in our next duel. Her quest for power drew her to the scrolls, and the moment she opened them, it allowed Nebilim to take control of her. The worst part was that since Nebilim was inside of Karen, killing Nebilim meant killing Karen.
Hearing all of this made me livid, but I was reluctant to fight. I didn't want to lose another friend, but I also couldn't allow her to be possessed by Nebilim. As I was trying to collect my thoughts I felt a harsh tug on the Disaster Devil's Arm I was carrying. Nebilim was calling the Arms to himself. As we all struggled to hold onto the cursed weapons, Sheena summoned all of the summon spirits and had them hold Nebilim, disabling him temporarily.
As Nebilim tried to break free, Colette used her angel artes to separate Nebilim from Karen's body. With his spirit released he tried to flee again just like he did two years ago when he failed to possess Presea, but the rest of us attacked him relentlessly preventing his escape. When he couldn't fight anymore, Sheena used the summon spirits to hold him again, and Lloyd shattered the evil spirit with a new arte he developed. With the last of my mana I burned the ancient scrolls of the Necronomicon, which unfortunately disappointed Raine.
Karen was on the ground, weak but conscious. The worst was over, but I was going to have to tell Karen what happened to her uncle. This wouldn't be easy.
