Chapter 30:

Danse had woken up long before the announcement was made. Nate however had been dead asleep in a nearby bunk and falls out of his bed. Danse chuckles lightly as he helps the man out. "I'm going to murder them..." Nate grumbles as he rubs his head. "Well you have to hand it to them...General, it's effective." Nate glares at Danse as he lets out a low huff. "Fine, be that way, so is..um...Elder Maxson up yet?" Danse looks around before he shakes his head. "Not sure, but he should be..." Neither one seemed willing to go check but Preston was walking over. "Where's your Elder, there's still a few things I want to talk about." Nate looks over at Danse slowly. "Um...he might be...busy with..things." Yeah that sounded good as Preston rises a dark brow. "Does this have anything to do with this...surprise you asked me to help you with? Wait, you made me place candles in your room for your boss, why?" Nate pats him on his back. "The man's in love, I remember doing crazy s**t for Nora when we first met, and besides, the man deserves some kind of happiness." Danse was shaking his head slowly. "It's not really our place to question what he does, he's still in charge. However it does seem she's had a rather positive effect on him since she's been brought on." It takes a minute before that tiny light in Preston's head turns on. "Wait, are you telling me he's in a relationship with that girl you're traveling with?" Nate just holds up his hands. "Like Danse said, it's none of our business, so uh...who's going to go knock?" Danse turns the other way as Preston hides under his hat. "Okay then!"

Meanwhile, in the General's room, Sara giggles softly as she looks down at Arthur. He was a panting mess, and she managed to leave one hell of a love bite on him. She was testing the waters to see what he liked, and boy did she find a soft spot on the man. She had to admit, she loved biting, she wasn't sure why. Maybe it was just to see their reactions and his had been priceless. And the sounds he made, would make a nun blush. Now she just couldn't stop laughing. Well at least she did it in a spot where no one would see it. "Well I'll mark that down as a new kink your into..you okay?" He catches his breath as he finally sits up. "You're secretly trying to kill me aren't you?" Her brows rise a bit. "Death by sex, well at least you go out with a blast...oh my.." He covers his face as he gets out of bed, finding his pants before he allowed this woman to drag him into another round of sex. Not that he was complaining, but they still had work to do after all. She shrugs as she finds her outfit. It took her a minute to move because her legs were a bit shaky. "You might have to help me a bit, I can't feel places.." He turns to her slowly as she just smiles at him. "What?" It takes a few minutes of cleaning up and finding what went to who. Of course when he finally located her bra he holds it out to look it over. He was no expert on such items, but it looked, new somehow. She holds herself as she walks over to him. "I kind of need that you know. Trust me running around while everything bounces, isn't that comfortable..."

He slowly holds it out to her as she takes it back. She could see a question forming in those eyes of his. "Yes my dear?" "How...how do you know those...fit?" He watches her snap it on as she fixes it a bit. "It's not easy, it mostly just involves going to a store and hoping for the best. But if I'm lucky I can find someone to measure me, don't ask me how that works I don't do clothes..." She looks down a bit. "It's hard enough to find pants that fit me, look at this belt!" She had to tighten it quiet a bit to make sure the pants he had given didn't fall off her skinny a**. He roams his eyes over her as he places his hands on her hips. It was true, she didn't have much for curves, but it was there. "You are tiny.." "Hey!" She throws her hands up. "Shut up, not all of us are built like Gods you know. Besides it's not like I don't try, hell in the last ten years I went from 130 pounds to 140, goals..." She hangs her head a bit, she burned it off so quickly because she never sat still for long. She tilts her head as she runs her hand through his beard. He slowly leans in as he kisses her. "We should return to base, it won't be long before we can set our assault on the Institute." She nods as she salutes him. "Got it boss." He lets her leave first, as she makes her way outside and he soon follows like everything was normal. They get together and after a working out a few things the four of them leave to return to the Brotherhood. It was right back to work the minute Maxson had returned to the ship. But the news was a lot worse then he thought it would be. Captain Kells gives him the full report on how they had gotten word of a mystery stranger on board the ship, with sunglasses. The same one they had spotted stealing their uniforms some time ago.

While Maxson was dealing with that, Sara, Nate and Danse were still outside on the base. Nate had left Dogmeat with Preston because he didn't think they would allow him to keep the animal on the ship. It was still going to take some time before they would be ready to set an attack on the Institute. Nate just hoped they hadn't gotten any word of this, but seeing as no one went outside other then their Synths. It wasn't likely, still he should still make sure his 'son' wouldn't become a problem. Nate had been talking it over with Danse the whole time so Sara wondered off to give them some space. It was clear to see how deeply Nate had started to care about the Paladin, even if Danse didn't seem to take any real notice. After some debate Nate looks at his Pip-Boy. "Alright, it shouldn't take long..if the Elder asks, I'm just covering our..butts.." Danse chuckles softly at this. "I'll be sure to let him know, just be careful.." Nate nods and without thinking he grabs Danse and kisses him. Danse flails a bit, he had never been kissed before, let alone by another man. Nate blushes as he slowly lets go. "I..um...sorry." Danse shakes his head at this, rubbing the back of his neck. "No..it's fine, can't say I was expecting it. But I'm just trying to figure out..how you could feel something for me.." Nate gives him an honest answer. "Danse, I don't really care about...you being a Synth. Why do you think I stood up to Maxson for you?" He watches the Paladin blush deeply at this as he tries to hide in his power armor.

Nate just smiles as he salutes Danse, and was gone in a flash of light. Sara looks up when she sees the flash as she heads over to see what that was. "Where did Nate go?" She tilts her head at Danse to see he was trying to cover his blushing. "He's checking in with the Institute, to make sure they don't know about Liberty Prime. Last thing we need is for them to send their Synths in to destroy our hard work." She nods her head to this, the Institute did have a unlimited supply of them. "Got it, damage control, not a bad idea since he's the only one that can get in and out...wonder what it's like to teleport like that..." Her fingers twitch a bit. "Always wanted to try the magical way you know.." Danse was looking at her, confused. "Sorry I was thinking of D&D again...don't ask." She was about to head for the Vertibird when she sees it land and Maxson was heading right for them. "Paladin, we need to gather our numbers, we're setting an assault on the Railroad." She looks at him surprised as Danse salutes the man. "Of course Elder, but why them?" "I had a word with Captain Kells, it seems in my absents that man with the sunglasses had been seen again. Not only that, but this time, he was on the ship, making areas..." Sara feels herself jump a bit, Deacon was already planing on blowing up the Prydwen. "He even left a calling card.." He pulls out a small scrap of paper that had the lantern on it.

Maxson looks around a bit. "Where is Knight Thomson..?" Sara looks at Danse, well wasn't this a kick in the pants. "He just left to go make sure the Institute doesn't have a clue about Liberty Prime." No point on lying to the man, that's just what Nate had done after all as Maxson nods at her. "We'll have to go without him, we'll gather our numbers, and follow what we know in order to find them, and take them before they take down my ship..." He turns and they quickly follow after him. Maxson sets up to teams, one lead by Danse, the other lead by Paladin Floss. She hadn't had much time to talk to the old Paladin, but he looked happy to see her. So it would seem she would be joining him for this, not that she minded. She was setting up her power armor when the old Paladin walks over. "I wanted to thank you for the advise, my night out with the wife was one she won't soon forget." Sara smiles at this as she gets into her armor. "I'm glad, where is the wife?" "Right here." An older woman with lightly gray hair, tied under her hat. She was dressed in a field scribe uniform. She was a kind looking woman with dull brown eyes. "Ah so this is the Knight you spoke of, I might have to keep my eyes on this one." Sara ducks her head a bit as she fixes her helmet. "Not at all ma'am, though you might want to keep an eye on him." The Paladin just smiles as he wiggles his brows at his wife. "Come, we have a score to settle." The small group gather and head into the Vertibird. While Danse's team was headed elsewhere. Their stop was at the Boston Common where the trail started. She wasn't sure where Danse was sent to, but they were starting their search here. They don't waste time as the group follow the trail. She already knew where it would lead, but she remembered to keep her mouth shut.

She keeps her gun out however, knowing they would run into Feral's and a few Super Mutants. Still it seemed they found the church first. Sara scans the area, the place was deadly quiet. Paladin leads the way into the old church. She didn't like this as she sees something move in the rabble. "Feral's!" They open fire as the hoard rise against them. Sara made sure they didn't get to close as she turns and sees the way deeper into the area. They head down the hall to the underground area as they continue to fight the Feral Ghouls. They remain as silent as they could as they reach the end where the 'door' was. Paladin Floss taps the spot as he nods and they pull out a bomb they had made to blow out the wall. They clear the area fast as it does it's job. Floss leads the way, gun out, she heads a click, it was a trap. "Run!!" There was a loud explosion of ammo and the sound of something getting shredded to pieces. There was no time to think, as Sara got the other members out of the area until it had stopped. Once the dust had cleared she moves slowly to see the Paladin had fallen and half his armor was nothing more then twisted metal. "Paladin..." She moves slowly, the man was dead as she picks up her weapon. "Eyes open people..." She leads the rest of the group, moving slowly. No doubt the Railroad was waiting, and sure enough, the whole things turns into a blood bath. Sara throws a grenade and starts shouting commands at the others, keeping them together. Her eyes fall on Desdemona, and fires without a second though, the woman goes down in seconds as Deacon opens fire on her. "Ad Victoriam!" She screams as she opens fire on the man. It burned her slightly to see this cocky piece of s**t wearing one of their uniforms. The fight didn't last long, and in the end the only person they had lost was the good Paladin.

She orders one of them to go out the back way and try and contact Danse and his team. She sighs deeply as the scribes start to scout the area. "Might as well contact the Elder, he might want to see this himself." It was much like it was in the game, the large stone table. The tech, the computers, the only difference was the large blueprint they had of the Prydwen, and all the spots they had marked. They had the bombs ready and everything. She looks at Deacon, his body still as she shakes her head. "It didn't have to be this way..." Not that he could speak for himself. She never had anything against the guy when she worked with the railroad. She just never went that far. Again she mostly sided with the Minutemen so she wouldn't have to take out anyone. The Railroad had acted on it's own accord, with no help from Nate to drive them to this point. She looks up slowly as they file out once word got out a Vertibird had arrived. Maxson steps out, Danse and his group had just arrived as Alice slowly gives the report on what happened. Danse looks down slowly at the loss of another Paladin. Maxson however just listens closely. "We may have lost my husband, but that Knight, she lead us to victory, she made sure we didn't lose anyone else. She's one hell of a leader..sir.." Maxson just nods as he makes his way down to the hideout. Sara had walked out of her armor, roaming around when she finds the robot P.A.M. She half screams when she feels someone at her side. It hit her that they never got any orders on what to do with this, thing and by the look on Arthur's face he had no idea about it.

"Elder..sir." She stands up a bit, aside from looking a little rattled, she was okay. He gives her a quick look over. "I was told, you lead the assault, when Paladin Floss went down.." His voice was so low and even it made her shiver. "It was a trap...not sure what kind, but the poor man got the blunt of it. I cleared the area to make sure we didn't lose anyone else and pushed forward to make sure they didn't escape...sir.." She lets out a small gasp as he holds her tightly, then kisses her. "I knew there was something special about you..." She blushes at his words. "Um...thanks, so uh...what are we going to do with this thing?" She points to the robot. "It's kind of freaking me out." He lets her go as he looks it over. "We can always reprogram it, be a shame to let something like this go to waste.." She just nods slowly then blinks, remembering why she wanted him down here in the first place. She leads him to the table to show him, just how far the Railroad had gotten. Kells had been right, the fact they got on his ship. She points to the fellow with the glasses. "I'm guessing this is the guy, took him out myself." Good work Paladin." She turns her head at that as the small group renters the area. They clear out the space, leaving nothing behind as they take everything back to the base. Everyone had gathered outside as the sun started to set on them as Maxson stands in front of his men. "Scribe Alice Floss." The woman walks up to him slowly as he hands over her husbands holotags. "In honor of your husband, who had fallen in battle. His name shall be written in our codex, never to be forgotten."

Once she was back to with the others, his eyes turn to the woman in front of him. He holds out his hand to her as she joins him at his side. The others watching silently. "The actions of this Knight, will also be put to record. She rouse above the call of duty, and lead her team to victory against the Railroad. If we hadn't made the first move, the Prydwen would be nothing more then a smoking crater in the ground." He keeps his eyes on her, trying to hold back how proud he was. It was a strange feeling. "From this day forth, I'm granting you the title of Paladin." Sara salutes him as the others do so as well. "It'll take some time to sort through the technology we gathered from the Railroad, but at least it won't fall into the wrong hands. Now it's high time we return to our duties." Everyone scatters after that as Sara slowly walks up to Alice. She steps out of her armor once again, she hated talking in that thing. "I'm...so sorry.." Alice gives her a sad smile. "You didn't know, I think he would be happy to see this." She was trying so hard not to cry. "He was a good man, and he shall be missed. I liked him a lot you know?" Alice smiles warmly at this. "He had high hopes for you, do him proud.." She turns and heads off to return to her work. She needed some space after all of this. She turns to see Maxson hadn't quiet left as everyone else vanished. She feels herself blush a bit. "Was the promotion necessary?" He walks over to her, his arms behind his back. "Of course, you've proven you can handle being a leader. It'll take time to work everything out, but you more then earned it." She just nods, might as well go along with it.
