Let us start off with saying that I am currently living in the Philippines with my father, with my mother being the OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker)

To summarize things, The family plan was to bring me to Canada for a better future compared to what I have now in the Philippines. My mother decided to go to Canada following her younger sister's footsteps, once there she applied for immigration for both my father and I. The family plan was made when I was around 5-6 years old, Years past and last year was the year where I finally got the message from the Canadian Embassy that I my application was accepted, I was excited to say the least, moving to another country!! What an adventure that would be!!

But then my father's application was declined due to reasons unknown, sadly this left me at a shocked, disappointed state. I have a very close relationship with my father seeing as he raised me since I was 5-6 years old alone, he became my best friend, my mother and father at the same time, He would help me when I didn't understand things, order/talk to other people for me when I was too shy to do it myself, and mostly he took care of me. And now I have to face a new foreign country alone, yes I would have my mother... But never really knew her. 12 years and I don't even know her, we lost a lot of time together, I am not aware of what she likes, hates, her sense of humour, her style... I don't know any of that. Yes we do talk, we use FaceTime but since we BOTH don't really know each other due to time differences and distance, we don't know what the other is interested in which ended up in awkward silences. But thankfully we're slowly to get to know each other more.

Another side of this are my best friends, the 5 people who have been there through ups and downs of my life, the people who have seen me in my best and in my worst, the people I know who would be my bridesmaids, I honestly would say that I've never felt such a strong connection, people would say that when seeing us together it looks like there's an invisible rope that ties us all together that is unbreakable, and now I have to leave them too. And hopefully, I can try and find new friends that I can hang out with... But I know that I can never find a strong bond like that again.

Fast forward...

Today, at 1:30 in the morning, I received a message from my mother that she will be coming back to the Philippines to come and get me on January 30th... When she first told me I of course became excited, until it dawned me that I have to leave and start a new life. My mother and I talked for hours saying that we were both excited to finally be together, mother and daughter. I was to, I can finally get to know the woman who have birthed me!!

We talked for hours, then my dad decided to join, they have both agreed to the plan and thankfully she will be arriving on February 20th and we will be leaving for Canada on March 5th, this of course is just a temporary plan for my mother might not be able to get the flight tickets needed for both of us.

This entry will start the ever growing journal of my life in a new foreign country that I can hopefully call home. Through struggles internally, making new friends, school life, and just a back to zero type of deal.

Feel free to comment and do have a good day~
