Goldeneye: Rogue Agent
So, to get things started, let me just get this out of the way: This is not a sequel to the steller "Goldeneye 64" for the Nintendo 64. Get it? Got it? Good. First off, the graphics, pretty good effects and the cut-scenes aren't half bad, but there isn't that many different types of enemies. Most of them are generic and you'll sometimes run into a new one, but with better armor, that's it. Sometimes. You start out as a MI6 agent working wirh Bond to stop Goldfinger. You have a golden eye, hence the name, it came from when you faught with Dr. No and you've been seeking revenge ever since. But the revenge has interfiered with your work and you're too reckless. So, MI6 cans your a** and you get hired by Goldfinger. Is it just me or does this sound like a fan fiction? You then have a war spanning 8 long missions, and by long I mean 45 minute long missions with one save point in the middle, that's it. The gameplay, well the gameplay is pretty straight-forward: shoot generic baddies and be on your way to the next area to shoot more baddies. Although some of the weapons are cool, you don't get to use them much. Also, after every mission, you get an upgrade for your eye, like seeing through walls and stuff. Last, there's a lot of cameo's from past Bond films, so a Bond fan (as I am) will be pleased. The sound, well the sound is a mixed bag, I loved the VA, but the music sounded like a generic action flick, although sometimes Bond is like that, I wish that it recieved the same treatment that the early films did. Overall, I didn't much care for Goldeneye, it looks like that EA just out together a generic shooter out again and put the Bond licence on it, and it doesn't help that it has the Goldeneye name on it so many fans will be mistaken for a sequel. What's odd is that EA did amazing on last year's "Everything or Nothing" third-person Bond game, but they still wanted a FPS. Stick to the third-person guys, I give it a 60%
