A place for me to keep writing and one or two other things.
Sample 1 & 2
A gentle breeze blew through the trees, gently ruffling the rich green leaves. The gold of the setting sun was just visible through the dense forest. Not far away, just a few feet really, the trees thinned as the land transformed from the forest to the valley. A young woman sat under one of the trees, her knee bent as she fixed her dark leather boot. Her pale hair was pulled back in a long braid that reached near the middle of her back. A soft sigh passed her lips as she finally finished making the very basic repairs. "It should hold until I reach the town..." she said to herself, sighing again as she stood.

The woman adjusted the quiver on her back before straightening her clothes and dusting them off so they were at least halfway presentable. While she was still a day or so off from the town, she wasn't scared to travel at night. Unlike many women, she was sure that she could handle herself in a fight if need to. Indeed, the number of weapons she carried with her - a knife and rapier in addition to the bow - proved how prepared she was if a robber even considered trying to kill her for her limited wealth. 'Just to be sure,' she thought as her gloved hand - the one she used to draw back on her bowstring - brushed over the pouch tied to the black belt around her waist.

Smiling, she adjusted everything before finally picking up her walking staff and bow, carrying one in each hand. The same breeze that had pulled at the leaves and at the loose strands of her fair hair, tugged at the hem of her long, sleeveless blue-black dress. Either side of the garment was split up the side so that her movement wasn't restricted and soft leggings in a similar color covered her legs before tucking into the matching black, worn boots. The clothing contrasted greatly with her pale hair and skin. A simple blue-black leather band was tied around her upper arm and its meaning lost to most. The woman was an Quentari elf, just one of many kinds of elven people. It was true that usually her kind did not travel from their homeland often, but that was why she wore the black band - to signify that she had chosen to leave their society temporarily for her own personal reasons. Her name was Amara Eroth though the first name was one she had chosen to better fit in with humans though by her pointed ears and her overall look anyone could tell what she was.

Amara had only just reached the edge of the woods when she heard a loud sound like thunder disturb the calmness of the area. "What..." she whispered to herself, frowning and narrowing her silver-blue eyes as she looked around, a soft gasp escaping as she spotted first the Troll and then the human man. "Forgive me," she murmured to no one in particular as she dropped her staff and pulled an arrow from the quiver, quickly loading it and letting it fly at the Troll. Usually she wouldn't have bothered with the Troll, but she couldn't let it harm a defenseless human when she could easily stop it or at the very least distract it.

As the arrow flew at the Troll, Amara kept to the trees, slowly drawing closer to the human man. She didn't look to see if her arrow had hit or not as she drew another arrow and shot again, faintly smiling as she saw it hit the creature's arm. It wouldn't kill him - she wanted to avoid that if at all possible - but she was sure the pain would distract him long enough for her to get them both away. "Come here, quickly now..." she called softly to the man, urging him to come towards her with a simple gesture."

    -------

The day was already starting and it was ten minutes after six in the morning. Danika sighed as she opened the curtains in her room and looked out. Since it was so early, the sun had yet to rise but things were already starting to lighten. The young woman smiled to herself as she opened the window just a little and was pleased to feel the warm breeze. That was one of the many things she liked about living on the island and working for the Kanashii family.

She only stood there for a minute longer before she started dressing for her day. Of course, as a servant she didn't have to worry very much about what to wear - she was required to wear her uniform - but she felt the need to make sure she looked her very best in it. She had learned from other jobs that your appearance was very closely related to how others treated you.

Roughly ten minutes later, she had finished dressing and was put together the way she wanted - her pale purple hair was left loose though she did use pins and hairspray to keep her bangs styled back and out of her face. Her yellow eyes were lined with black in a tasteful way so that they would stand out in contrast to her hair and her pale skin. Of course, that's also why she had chosen to darken her lips with lipstick. As she walked out the door of her bedroom, she tied her apron in place and made sure that her gloves were secured. And as she walked by, she knocked on the doors of a couple of the maids that used rooms near hers just in case they hadn't woken up yet. However, it was a fleeting gesture and she was just doing it to seem polite and caring.

Since it was nearing six thirty, she knew that breakfast had to get started before the masters would be woken. As much as she wanted to wake them, she couldn't since she wasn't sure if the food was being cooked yet - how bad it would look if the food wasn't ready for the masters when they arrived in the dining room!

A smile was on Danika's face as she walked down the three sets of stairs to the main floor. After that, it didn't take long for her to get to the kitchen. She just hoped that the more energetic maids wouldn't be around. As nice as they were, she preferred to work in silence rather than be forced into pointless chatter.
