Gori's Journal of No Concern to the General Public
Has whatever thoughts have popped into my head I feel are good enough to write down, links to some of my writing and anything else I deam worthy of interest.
Well, another year is coming to a close and for me that means five exams that eat away at my psyche until the day of. Although studying is, of course, important its also important to keep stress levels in mind. Now, studying for things like Calculus and Differential Equations doesn't really add much to my stress levels since I love puzzles and when you hit the University level that's really all they are. Its the other three that I need to keep an eye out for. So to that end I've been going to Monster Hunter Tri to blow off some steam. You can't leave your brain at the door for it which suits me just fine and being able to plan strategies for taking down the over sized monstrosities on the fly let's me keep some of the sharpness in my mind for when I hit the books again, or so I like to think. Give me a break, I'm stressed.

But now that I've been playing the game for a while things are starting to occur to me. 'The Guild' must have hundreds if not thousands of Hunters in its books that are capable of taking down creatures that could very well bring down a kingdom. Some of the monsters are documented to have done just that. This means that its turned the role of the fairy tale knight into a profession. That got me thinking, if there are countries in this world, how much can they possibly like The Guild? If you look at it as a military power I shudder to think of the power the other countries must possess if The Guild isn't a threat to any of them. It also makes me think of The Guild's business tactics and just how it interacts with governments. Does it ever do anything outside of taking commissions and jobs for its Hunters? Does it ever set foot in the political arena?

Come to think if it, how has The Guild not been forced into the political arena? If the militaries of the world's actual countries were capable of taking down the monsters that The Guild is payed to go after then The Guild would be out of a job. The governments have a vested interest in keeping their populace safe. That means The Guild has the best fighters in the world on its payroll. I don't care how much of an ego a ruler has, they're going to want to do something about a threat that big. But maybe that's already happened and that's why there's no mention of it? If anyone tried and The Guild is as powerful as I'm thinking it is, what can anyone really do about it? Its like a giant sleepy bear. It won't do anything to you as long as you don't start annoying it.

I also have to wonder about the sustainability of the job with so many people working for The Guild. How many monsters must be killed each day? On that note, how many kinds are there truly and what is their reproduction cycle like? But I haven't put very much thought into this so I won't write much about it. Maybe I'll make a new entry with my thoughts and questions on it.

If for some reason you're knowledgeable about the game and would care to share your thoughts feel free to leave a comment.
