What it Means to Be an Artist |

An artist is a person who engages in an activity deemed to be art. They're basically a person who expresses themselves through a medium. Whether it's drawing, painting, sculpture, acting, dancing, writing, filmmaking, photographer, singing, instrumental, designer, and so on. To be an artist it means that when a moments comes to us, we feel compelled to do something about it. Such as a photographer, if the scenery looks absolutely beautiful or unique or strangely gorgeous they would be compelled to get their camera and capture the moment. They wouldn't have ignore it and say maybe next time, no they would go at whatever lengths to get their picture just as it is happening. Even a writer would peck away at their laptop, unable to stop writing when inspiration hits them; even if it's in the oddest places or time to get inspired. Being an artist is all about capturing the moments. Actors share moments on the screen and their directors capture it; a sculptor captures a tense moment on the brow of their muse; a writer creates a moment on the page to enrapture the reader; a painter captures with oil on canvas an image to which we are riveted. Whatever the art form, it’s all about capturing the moment that inspires you.
As artists, we're risk-takers because we don't let those moments escape us, we never let a moments pass us by. Art is important to us. Whatever the kind of art we do, it challenges us and many other people to be risk-takers, to think outside the box, and to be extraordinary.
