My grandma and I have a wood stove so we have a gargantuan wood pile out in our yard, right? So obviously we have to bring wood in to keep the fire going and the house warm. Well a couple of weeks ago, I was home alone (of course) and bringing wood in. I put the wood in the box, and I'm always soooooo careful because some of the most dangerous spiders in the fricken US can live in the pile...
Well this massive spider comes crawling up a piece of wood and I (being arachnophobic) completely freak out. I can sort of tell by the look of the spider that she wants me dead for one, and for two, she's pretty poisonous. She was tall, brown, and pretty big haha. Not to mention she could run 4 feet per second in a panic (I looked that up later haha).
So I grabbed a plastic cup and caught her, went to my computer, and looked up what kind of spider she was. She was a hobo spider. Scary, right? Their venom can't kill you, but it can leave a really nasty hole in your tissue that could take years to heal. The only way you can die from a bite is if you get an infection. So anywayyyys!
After a while I realized that she was actually kind of cute stare . Something about her eyes and her big chelicerae and slick legs and kind of adorable expression got to me... So I put her in a jar... And now I have a pet hobo spider named Diablo... So the next week I was bringing in wood again and found a giant house spider (they're big and gross but pretty much harmless)! *shiver* Diablo has a cousin now! I named her Diva haha.
It's fun to watch them because they have completely different personalities. Diablo's like "Hey, whatever dude, just hand over the fly and it's all good" and Diva's like "OMG! THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!" every time I open their jars lol. I didn't put them in together because I'm scared Diva would kill Diablo and I kind of like her lol. I'm staring to like Diablo more and more haha. She's so cute when she's feeding her eyes look all big and she uses her little pedipalps to turn her food like corn on the cob when she's eating whee
So the week after that (this week) I was hauling wood again (don't ask why I haven't just given up yet) and guess what. BAM. Black widow. For real? This is getting obnoxious. The black widow is immature so she's harmless right now. But I'm going to keep her and watch her mature lol. I named her Scarlett mrgreen .
So that's where I am now and if I stop replying to your messages you'll all know why stare . And, for the record, I'm still deathly afraid of spiders...
