GHOST TOAST CHAPTER 2
I see the light…. Toastie thought. He was in a big vast space that was a faded, light blue color and had white hazy fog all around him. There was a bright light in front of him not too far away. Where am I? Am I in heaven? Toastie began to float forward. “STOP!!” someone shouted. Toastie screeched to a halt and looked behind him hesitantly. He saw a fish stick wearing a type of police uniform, and he was floating right towards Toastie. “Where do you think you’re going?!” The fish stick had a gruff and important sounding voice. “Um….to the light?” Toastie whispered. “That’s what you think!! And speak louder boy! I may be old, but I’m not deaf!” the fish stick ordered. “Yes sir,” Toastie replied. “My name is Toastie, sir.”
“Toastie? What kind of name is that?!” the fish stick questioned. “My kind,” Toastie said. “My name happens to be Kalimba Scruff, sergeant number 1 and guard for this here place. No one is to get past me until their background is checked and approved to go to the light,” sergeant Kalimba stated. “Otherwise, they get sent to the darker gray and reddish horizon that’s opposite of the light or they get sent to that wooden door over there.”
“Um… Kalim...”Toastie started, but the Sergeant interrupted. “It’s Sergeant Scruff to you!!”
“Yes Sergeant Scruff sir, where does the door lead?” Toastie questioned. “I can’t tell you unless your background has the absolute criteria to go there instead of the light,” the Sergeant replied. “Oh,” Toastie whispered, still curious. “Come here to the background checker, Toastie,” said Sergeant Scruff. “Ok,” said Toastie. Toastie followed Sergeant Scruff to this squareish red and yellow robot dude by the wooden door. “Here it is,” Sergeant Scruff said. “What’s your full name Toastie?”
“Toastialioth Whole Wheatia the 3rd,” Toastie replied. Sergeant Scruff typed the name into the keyboard that had popped out of the quiet robot and hit a button. The robot chirped while it found Toastie’s background “beep boop boop beep baap boopity beep.” Then a paper started to come out of the robots mouth. “Ah, here is your background……hmmm. Oh! You get to travel through the wooden door!” the Sergeant exclaimed. “But under certain conditions….”
“Like What?” Toastie Questioned. “You are being sent back to your world for a reason. If somebody comes to you for help you must help him. No matter what,” Sergeant Scruff proclaimed. “How will I know who to help?” Toastie asked. “You will know! He is very persistent and in great danger if you do not help him in this time of need,” the Sergeant replied.
Then Sergeant Scruff opened the door right next to Toastie and lightly nudged Toastie forward. “Goodbye young Toastie. Perhaps we will meet again someday. Good luck!” Sergeant Scruff waved goodbye as he shut the door behind Toastie.
It was dark when the Sergeant closed the door behind Toastie. I’m alone again…..Toastie thought sadly. He started walking forward wondering who he was supposed to help. Hey, I can see some light up ahead! He walked through a doorway into a bright room. At first he saw the bread box where he came from, but then he noticed a blackened piece of bread lying on the counter next to the metal box with rectangular slots that he was shoved into earlier.
Oh no! Who is that poor piece of bread? Did someone get chosen while I was away? Toastie floated hesitantly towards the burnt corpse, afraid to find out which of his friends had been so unfortunate. He got close enough to see the burnt face. Wait…..isn’t…..that…me? Toastie fell back in shock. Me??? Am I dead then? I am I a ghost? Toastie’s terror-stricken thoughts were interrupted by the hand and the hand’s body that came stomping into the room. “MOM!!!” the hand’s face screamed. “MY TOAST GOT BURNED!!”
“Then make a new piece of toast, Bobitha! I’ve quite had it with your screaming,” someone replied from the other room. Another hand? Toastie pondered. Bobitha replied angrily, “I DON’T WANNA MAKE ANOTHER PIECE OF TOAST!!!”
Just then the girl who was screaming to the other hand noticed Toastie floating on the counter. “Who are you?!?!” the girl asked. “Um…I’m Toastialioth Whole Wheatia the 3rd,” Toastie said. “Hey! You look like the toast I just burnt!” she stated. Toastie was getting confused, “You burnt me?”
“Yeah! I was watching my favorite show, Polly’s Hair Salon Adventure, while I was waiting to eat you up!” she gloated. “Eat me up?” Toastie stuttered. “Yeah, but then you got burnt, so I couldn’t eat you up any more,” the girl said sadly. “Oh, that’s good,” Toastie said in relief.
“Who are you by the way?” Toastie asked the young girl. “I’m Bobitha! And I am seven and a half years old!” she held up seven fingers proving her statement. “Who were you yelling to?” Toastie asked Bobitha. “Oh, that’s just my mom she’s crabby today,” Bobitha replied, and asked another question right after, “What are you doing here?”
“I think I am on a quest to help someone, but I don’t know who. Do you know anyone that needs help?” Toastie asked. “Hmm…No I don’t think I know anyone that needs help.” Bobitha said while skipping around the kitchen. Suddenly there was a sucking noise coming from the ceiling, and a small hole appeared.
A black ball fell from the hole and landed on the floor with a splat. The dazed Toastie and Bobitha stared at the ball that was now splatted on the floor. Slowly it started to peel itself off of the floor and returned to ball form. “Hello!” It said. “I am the King of the Gooians and I need urgent help!”
