I live by three things: Love, laughter, and joy.
I felt creative so I made a random story. Sue me. And yes. I love horror. stare Don't talk s**t about horror. Or Total. Btw this is just a bit of set up so don't expect any gore/scares/nastyness yet.

The beep beep beep of an alarm clock, the slapping of a calloused hand, the groaning of a young man waking up. These were common at seven o'clock in the morning in Josh Trenman's home.

Propping himself up in bed, the twenty-three year old brushed his eyes, the rough skin on his hands scratching at his lids. Without a sound, he got out of his unkept, slightly dirty bed. Brushing a few crumbs off his beard, he looked down. Checking his own body for any new marks. Bug bites, scratches, even a mold infection. Nothing. That was new for a change.Stepping into his broken down bathroom, he turned the shower on. As the water warmed, he looked in the mirror. Looking normal as ever. Wind chapped cheeks, covered by a bushy, black-brown beard, just like the parted, nape-of-the-neck length hair on his head.

Popping open his medicine cabinet mirror, he pulled out a short pair of hair scissors. Chopping at his beard, the loose hairs were gone, revealing a much better looking, yet still rugged man when he closed the cabinet to reveal the mirror. The water was warm for sure now.

Jumping into the shower, he cleansed not only his body, but his mind of all the worries of the world, until, ten minutes later, he walked out and dried his hair and body.

He had worked in jobs like loading on docks and construction work. Only if he'd actually worked in highschool. Then maybe he'd have an easy, even if boring, desk job. But, no, he had skipped class to make-out with a girlfriend, hang around, and things of that sort. Now he was left near penniless and with no knowledge how to do even simple fraction or variable work. He had gotten his diploma, but his grades and money situation didn't allow for a college education.

Walking out of his small, ramshackle home, he started up his car. A red, rusty Mustang from way back when a flat hood was considered badass. The machine shuttered to life. Driving away from his home, his car ran up the road to the docks, where he held his current job.

The soft hum of the car wheels on pavement were a constant in his life, one of the few. He'd even almost lost his home. Something he had paid for but apparently didn't own. Well, a short court hearing, a few lawyer fees, and he'd straightened that out. Sure it was in a neighborhood full of murders, rapes, thefts, and the culprits responsible in it, it was home. He had friends, allies, and very few enemies in this area, at least, few that would do anything to harm him.

Passing a gas station, drove in to put a few dollars of gas in it, and then left. As he neared the docks, an eerie yet familiar feeling climbed his back. But, this was normal for him.
"Come on, Josh, you know better, it's normal around here," he told himself, and it comforted him.

To be continued... hopefully.
