It has been the best Christmas on Gaia so far, the month opened with new features such as the flower, trash and bug exchange, finally we can put our collection of Gaia Towns stuff we collected during the past few months. The fish exchange also reopened, not only can we exchange all these game items for stuff made of them, but we can also trade certain game items for others that are considered better, like 10 of this fish give me 1 of that fish, and such.
I am personally dissapointed with the inks, I thought we could get bug made items like we get trash hats and flower bouquets, the flower bouquets are my favorites. heart
But moving on, during this month Gaia's layout changed once again, our last layout changing was in May 2004, so it has been a year and 7 months aproximately. When it first came out it was kinda laggy and confusing, like the previous one at first. The complaints and ranting threads made by angry and frustrated users reached a new level, basically all of Gaia was full of ''I hate the new layout!'' and ''We want the olsd layout back!'' topics. I remember one called ''Thanks for ******** up Gaia!'' xd But of course, as the days passed people got used to it and the complaints stopped. I was a little troubled at first too, but things are simpler now, since we can access almost every place in Gaia by clicking a button. But still there are some things I don't like:
- The background color, it doesn't match and is an ugly color in my opinion.
- The upper banners were removed, the maps used to have a different banner each with a background of Durem or Barton Town, depending your position.
- The new shops, I liked the old ones better, not that this ones are more confusing but still I think the old stores looked better than this new ones.
But I will have to live with it and move on, I remember that even some mods expressed their feelings toward the new layout too. Gaia spoke that day. 3nodding
Also a new game is on the works, the casino card game (We expect it to be Black Jack), I always wanted that game whee :
Another small feature was the Housing Arena, just like in Avatar Arena we submitted our avvies to compete against each other, here we can submit our houses and compete for gold prizes. Again, I don't plan to compete. xp
From the ranting to the events:
Christmas day arrived with presents, not the ones you find under a tree, Gaia presents. whee
First the donation items opened, we got the choice between the Ice tiara and the Winter fox mink, not very good in my opinion. xp
The maps showed their Christmas spirit once again this year, besides the original maps, Aekea and other maps were new:
(By the way, Barton coast and Durem Reclamation Hub were finally released cleaned)
Then the caroling event started for the second time in a row, it was the Christmas event last year too. It was a bit different this year though, and it lasted until New Year's Eve and here is how it worked:
Caroling at the shops:
Just like last year we went from shop to shop singing carols to the store owners by clicking the ''Sing carol'' button, we had to wait a few minutes between each while we rested our voices, bullshit. xp
We had to carol to Ian, Agatha, Rina, Ruby, Sasha, Moira, Edmund and Liam. After caroling to them all we looked for Santa who was on one of the maps, randomly moving as time passed:
He handed out Santa 2k5 gifts, each one holding one of the holly jolly items, 8 in total. After getting all 8 we could still carol for extras, but they were random instead of being in order from 1 to 8. Just like Halloween, it got a bit boring after a while but for the items I could do it forever. mrgreen
Caroling in Gaia Towns:
In Halloween we had to get 100 candies by visiting the houses, in Christmas we caroled by singing in each house. A book appeared in front of every house and by clicking it we caroled, there was a cheer meter that increased by 0.5% with every book we clicked. After reaching 100% we went to the center of any of the zipcodes were Santa waited and he handed out the gifts (If you tried with 0% he said you had been naughty xd ). Just like in the stores, the firset set was in order from 1 to 8 and the rest was random.
As New Year's Eve approached, we got a mini storyline update, Cindy came with her latest report, or mini report xp :
That's all, I said mini right? xp
Before the ball, two new items were released in the stores: The wig (Or Sasha's hair) and the masque, which we could use for the ball.
The Gambino mansion at Durem opened the 31st for the New year's celebration were we hanged out with our friends and had a good time. Randomly Sasha and Ian made comments about the event, Sasha seemed worried and kinda scared, while Ian was asking for Sasha, claiming he knew who the masque man was and also was a bit rude (By telling me to get out of the way and such stare ).
The storyline was updated again:
(Serves you right Ian, hope you rot in jail xp )
With Ian arrested Rufus was now in charge of Barton Boutique, he is such a smart cat. xd
And the mystery man was Gino, it was too obvious, that's too bad because I was expecting it to be more exciting than this.
During the ball, Mrs. Claus randomly gave out elftech items (shoes, labcoat, gloves and hat), apparently all the elftechs died and those items used to be the clothes they wore, ewww. eek gonk
It was a month full of surprises and features, hopefully it will get better and better in this new year. Let's give a warm welcome to the year 2006.
Happy New Year! biggrin
