A more refined kind of stupid.
I caught my son smoking...
My son is only 10 years old. I had never really thought about him doing drugs for a long time. Never really thought that my son was in the wrong group of kids. That maybe, he was on the streets, in the wrong neighborhood, on the wrong day.

Yesterday, I drove my son to the playground, with a couple of his friends. Now, we don't live in the friendliest neighborhood out there, but I didn't want to be 'that' kind of dad. I wanted my son to live his own life, and if I didn't trust his choices, I shouldn't be his dad.

I dropped him off, and told him I'd pick him up at 4:30. He waved goodbye, with that sweet, sweet smile on his face. I smiled back, and waved. I then, rolled up the window, and drove off.

While I was at home, the thought that he might be smoking grew greater and greater in my mind. Although he was only 10, it wasn't the 70s anymore, and teens I have seen on the streets are scarier than some people I have ever seen in my life.

I waited at home, ate a mid-day snack, the usual. Then at 3:30, I finally decided to go pick him up. It was a 'bit' early, but I thought it didn't make a difference. I could just park my car, and just look at the many of the toys to find my son. I couldn't find him. Then in the way back of the playground, I saw him.

He, and 2 of his friends (his age) were on the other side of the playground, on a bench smoking. I got out of my car, and walked straight to my son, I knocked a few kids over on the way. I was roaring mad. When I got to my son, he said, "Dad? Wha-wha are you doing here?"

I stared back at him, didn't even bother to talk.

"Dad, no no you misunderstand! This isn't what it looks like!" he said, trying so hard to make up excuses.

I took his hand, and brought him in the car, didn't even bother to take the other kids. They were just as bad. I threw him in the backseat, and drove off. The 30 minute car ride was silent.

Then when we got home, I brought my son to his room, I was sitting next to him.

"Where'd you get those?" I said.

"The drug dealer... who else?"

Then, I turned to him silently, with a cold hard stare, and said, "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in bel-air."

    .:The Lime Scented Quest:.

An intricate, and rather enticing story... And... it reminds me of something, but what... I know not... Oh wait... never mind...

    Still a perfect 5/5 (.)
