Ruby Tuesday Restaurant chain apparently had been advertising the fact that they were going to be blowing up the last of their old restaurants. I don't know when it went down, it was in the past couple of days I know that. But from what I heard they blew up the wrong Restaurant. Now I was skeptical at first, no sanctioned, licensed demo crew would blunder that badly, and to do it themselves I believe would be illegal (though I'm not 100% on that). Anyways from what I was told by a friend of mine that they later broadcasted an apology to the restaurant in question. I didn't know about all this til today. Well two of my friends got into this huge argument over whether it was a hoax or not. And in the end they decided to drag my butt into it since neither one can apparently do research online.
So I took a look at it online, I looked up all the nice info on it. The other Restaurant that was blown up was called Cheeky's Bar and Grill. So I googled it. Sure enough I came up with their website. But it was closed down due to the 'incident' Ok sure I'll buy that, if it was a local type restaurant. But no they tried to set it up like a chain, and if that was the case then the ENTIRE website shouldn't have been shut down. As it was the Website was set up using a bogus corporate name (I know it was bogus because I searched for info for it, didn't find anything, nothing on the whole net, that just doesn't happen with corporations, especially since I know where to go for business info.)
Another tell was the fact that they said they were in Ohio, though I forget the town actually mentioned. The site was Set up From VA not OH, That would mean that would be the headquarters right? Well thats just it, if they have a headquarters like that it would mean it was a chain, which would mean that it would make no bloody sense to shut down your entire site just because one store was demolished. Put ontop of that I can't find any info on a Cheeky's in the town and zip listed with the website registration. Also I kinda find it funny that it was registered with what was listed as a PA landline.
So according to all the info that I've dredged up points this as being one heck of a hoax and marketing gimmick. And personally I think they're taking it a little too far.
