Tom had called the day before to say that the top door was left open and a few hen got into the chick side. Luckily, no one from the chick side got out. Since the millies have been home in their box for all their lives, Mom and I decided th take them out to the coop to see what would happen. I wasn't too keen on the idea, but went along for the ride. For some odd reason we stopped my McDonald's before hitting the coop, so I got a salad for Mr. Burby. When we got up there, Mom went off to get some plastic netting to put around the chick pen, since Burby and Pancake keep fighting and that's how we think Mr. Burby injured his beak. Putting the Millies in was a disaster. Floria and a phoenix hen kept picking on them. Milly eventually ran behind the big garbage can and jumped about three times his height onto a can of paint. So I took them back out. I left Dee in the chick side since she needs to get her feathers back. I put the phoenix hen and Simba back out. Seems the babies are finally old enough to enjoy corn, as I learned today. I shoved half an ear in after Mom and I got the new fencing up. As I was sitting with Burby, who was looking a little worse for wear, I was surprised by the fact that Noctem snuggled next to me for a short time and Iris roosted on my lap and arm. They're getting tame, which is more than can be said for Star. He's high-strung, that's for sure. I wonder if Megan will be able to handle him at the fair. I had a vision of me yelling "Catch that Chicken!" while Star just flew as fast as he could around the fairgrounds. Also turns out that Floria is a Florian. As I set the salad out, I noticed he only ate the yogurt, which at first didn't seem weird. But it was when I tried to give him a piece of apple that I notice that he couldn't eat it. He mouthed it, but the couldn't eat. His beak was really troubling him. I'm getting scared. He's four years old now, and a phoenix at that. I'm afraid because it feels like I'm losing him a little piece at a time. After some begging, I convinced Mom to let him come home. Mom doesn't like taking him home because she says he will have to fight his way back in. I don't know how to argue against that except with "but he's sick." As I went down to the turkey coop, I was surprised to see Jenny out and walking about. She came in through the little door while Mom and Tom were working. I had to forcibly insert Gilly through the little door to make her understand that that was the way to get out. They were happy to be out and about. Eating grass must be more enjoyable than I thought. Oddly enough, Jenny went after one of Tom's Grandkids (a boy). I caught her and wrestled her down (all for show) before setting her on my chest to have some one on one time. The turkey coop is close to being done. I had Dad take a look at Mr. Burby. Dad says it's most likely an infection. I guess I'll call Dr. Mike in the morning. I mixed him up some mash, and hand-fed it to him. He gobbled it down and went to bed.
