SHFFL-ing should be the first thing to practice, rather than WDing. Not to say WDing isn't important, but SHFFLing is the backbone of competitive(?) smash, not WD.
What am I doing to prepare? I'm working and going to school. I play melee in my spare time, and own the noobs at my college when I'm not in class.
Good times. Good times.

SHFFL-ing is hard! harder than wave dashing, and that takes forever to figure out!
i only play melee when i go over to my friend's place.

I'm doing a lot better with my SHFFLing. It's the L-cancelling that's giving me problems. I'm a lot more consistent with it now though, and my friends are starting to pick up on when I miss them. wink
I'm an odd SHFFL-er. I sometimes SH with up on the control stick, and it works just fine for me. But sometimes I SH with Y too. I'm weird. lol

I'll start trying to work my finger response that way. It's hard to switch to a different method of jumping when you've been using the same one for 7+ years... ish...

Amazing-Ness287 SHFFL-ing is hard! harder than wave dashing, and that takes forever to figure out! i only play melee when i go over to my friend's place. Actually, I find wave dashing more difficult than Shuffling... I mean, doing a wasve dash isn't ahrd but using it constantly without flaws(like don't wave dash for the SAKE of wavedashing... and simply WD towards the enemy for no reason). I'm tlaking about using it... running, backing up wtih WD and playing mind games with WD. SHFFLing isn't that hard, especially if you're versitile and very comfortable with the c-stick and stuff. Basically how I play: -use c-stick for all aerial moves(except for "jump+a" of course) -Also, I will perform aerial moves sometimes with "a+directional pad" if I'm already having to tap the directional pad in a derection to either get the extra little distance or to speed up a fall and execute the aerial.
