Some were invited, some had found their way here on their own. Many had been present since the beginning, others were only beginning themselves, other still had disappeared and reappeared at will, and even a rare few had gone away altogether, but for the most part, the great house was full to bursting.
There were hundreds here tonight, but less the one-hundred were the honored guest for whom the ball was being cast.
The great game-school Koiji Romansu had been in existence for a full year now, and though there were many guests, the party was in honor of the few, faithful students who had brought the institution through it's trembling first months, and kept her alive longer than most places like her would ever be.
Everyone, from the newest Freshman to few remaining Founders and powerful Seniors was present, though none were allowed to know who the others were...
As the clock struck six, masks were donned, and the night began.

Souta walked up to the main door. He took out his ID card and flashed it quickly to the main bouncer so only he could see it and no one else. His eyes lit up as he walked through the doors and saw all the decorations and other members from the school dressed up in their fancy clothes. He knew this was going to be a rememberable night as walked around and searched for some people he thought were his friends.

Emily walked up the steps, her heels clicking merrily on the stone. She wore a simple, blue-white dress with matching heels and a mask. The mask itself was silver, but the feathers attached to it were white or were the light blue like her dress. (Just pretend the avi's mask matches the description.)
At the door, she held up her invitation and was immediately waved through. The room inside was elegant and beautiful. Those in charge had spared nothing in regard to making this party special for all those who attended. Her hand rose to touch the mask that covered her eyes and most of her face. It was still firmly in place. Hopefully no one would be able to recognize her. It would ruin the fun.
Not many people were there yet. That meant she was one of the first. A surge of pride washed through her. One of the first. Maybe it would give her a good chance to find out if she knew anyone. I wonder how many will show up, tonight. It was still early, yet, but by the time darkness arrived, the unmasking would soon follow.
Time to mingle. She thought cheerfully, stepping out of the way of the door and making her way through the room.

One last check reassured her that the green wig was in place, as 'Zidane' gathered the hem of her dress and stepped into the large mansion. A small pin on the inside of one of the many folds of the skirt had served to identify her to the guards in a simple flash, but for now the only proof of her identity was hidden away again.
The floor of the main ballroom was not yet, and there seemed to be very little activity. It would probably take awhile for the party to truly begin. The green haired young woman smiled from behind her half-mask, looking forward to trying to guess who was from her school and who wasn't, and how many of them she knew.
A brief study of the room revealed just how many lush furnishings had been bought for the party. "Well, they certainly broke the bank on this one." she murmured, before a flash of blue caught her eye.
Zidane strolled pleasantly toward the other guest, noting the similarity in their masks. She wondered if feathers would be the dominant choice for concealing themselves tonight. "Hullo, madam. What, may I ask, is your identity on this fine evening?"

Emily heard someone speaking just behind her. She turned to check if it was she the words were directed at, and was greeted with a woman wearing a green wig and a mask similar to hers. She smiled politely. "Hello to you, too. You may call me Emily." She asked with a curious tilt of her head. "And what should I call you, madam?" She had been here but a few minutes, and already she was talking with someone. Was this girl someone she was friends with, or was she a total stranger? There was no way to tell.
Maybe this meant she could make a few friends on this evening. That would be nice.
It was almost funny to her, though. She was never this formal on any other day. But when at a Masquerade, it just wouldn't be right not to act formally. It was simply too entertaining to pass up.

"I," she replied with a shallow bow, "am Zidane Sharpe. You may, by all means, call me Zidane."
"So, miss Emily. Would you mind my asking if you are a student at the school? Or are you one of the many other guests? And, where did you find your mask. I gather it's a real one, not a silly little mock up of one from a poster you saw, like mine." Zidane would have enjoyed dressing herself in brand name pretties, but had run a bit short on money in the last few weeks, and had instead opted for a more home-made, if just as over the top, outfit.

A feeling of nervorosity swept over the young man that stood in the door way. The glorious splendour of the main ball room made him feel under dressed with his tank top. He had at least the decency to put on a bow tie and the polished shoes. One O adjusted his gloves while he examined the atmosphere of the area. Ready for a dance old chap.
The warm light from the room and the happy faces of the guests gave O the courage to step into the premises. He had taken to the red theme to night. The symbolic of red was that of love and warmth. A friendly color as he did not want to scare anyone. The ball hall was a magnificent sight with its rich decor and even more decorative gaians. Masks with feathers and glitter was on every face, even his own. His mask was also red but contained no feathers. It was simple yet stylish.
One O passed the dance floor giving it longing looks. The music made him want to try out some dance steps but what would that look like without some company. He had to wait until a good moment to ask someone to dance if he got the opportunity.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Zidane." Emily replied with an identically shallow, but still polite, bow.
She could tell what Zidane was doing. Asking just the right questions so she could try and figure out who Emily was. It was no doubt that many other guests would try the very same. There was really no avoiding it. She, herself, would probably ask a certain question or two. "I wouldn't say that I'm a student, no." She replied, deciding that she would try to answer in a way that gave little information. "Yes, the mask is real. I have to say, it cost me a good bundle of gold. As did the dress and my shoes."
Over Zidane's shoulder, she could see another guest enter the room. He seemed nervous, but he eyed the room admiringly. She smiled. This party was off to a very good start.

Zidane smiled at the other girl's answer. "I expect you'll be able to keep yourself a secret for at least a few hours then, Emily. I myself am happy to say that I got invited." The statement was about as useful as Emily's in that the party was invitation only, so both the students and other guests had been invited.
Noticing the girl in blue's wandering gaze, Zidane herself turned her head to see what had caught the other's attention. It was another guest, this time a male dressed more casually in red. Hmm. Well, he looks fun. Maybe I'll go pester him next.
"So, do you think you know him? There aren't too many guys in the school. Maybe that one guy... Meta-something? Though, I heard he was a she..."

With an excited grin on her face , Larahn walked up to the entrance of the masquerade ball , knowing very well that she would look out of place among the many people in masks and fancy outfits. Even if her fellow students weren't dressed that formally - which she bet they were - there were other people there , too , that would make her look like she was fit for the beach , instead of a party.
Which , to a degree , she did. She was dressed in nice slacks and shoes , but they contrasted greatly to her shirt , which looked almost Hawaiian. That , topped with the sunglasses covering her eyes ( as close to a mask as she was going to get ) , made her want to shout an " Aloha! " to the room ... Not that she would , of course.
Entering the room , she took a look around , seeing that some people had arrived already. Some people were in conversations , but that was all right. After all , it looked like a lot hadn't even arrived yet. : I'd say this is going to be a blast. :

With a trembling hand Lilith grabbed the door handle that led to the Masquerade. She was nervous, what if someone were to find out who she was? It was a silly thought, her disguse was pretty good. She had even thought to get a wig. Everything is going to be fine, just be calm, she thought to herself as she griped the door handle tightly. Taking a deep breath she opened the large door and entered.
Lilith's eyes widened, this was wonderful! Her eyes scanned the room and she saw that a few people had already come. She wondered if she knew any of them. Looking at many of the faces Lilith bit her lip, she hadn't gotten a mask for herself. Shaking her head she smiled, it didn't matter, tonight was about having fun and not worrying about silly things.
Walking over to the wall she leaned her back against it. Sweeping her eyes across the room once more she spotted the dance floor. How she'd love to go and dance but she was far to shy to ask someone. I suppose i'll have to wait and see if someone asks me, Lilith thought, sighing softly.

"I hope so. It would be more fun if I could fool everyone all evening." While she spoke, her gaze had returned to Zidane. But the girl immediately directed her attention back at the new arrival as soon as she noticed that Emily had looked away.
"Oh, I'm not sure. I think there are several males within Koiji Romansu. There isn't just the school, you know. There are many other areas that people go to." She raised an eyebrow curiously, though this gesture was hidden beneath her mask. "Are you a student at the school?"
As they spoke, two more people entered. And it was only the first part of the evening! The last ball that Koiji had hosted had fizzled out very quickly. Few people had attended. This Masquerade seemed to be much more promising. She smiled. She would have to go and chat with one of the others once she received a reply from Zidane.
There was still much mingling to do, after all.

Nic lent her body upon the eastern wall, just scanning the surrounding she found herself in.
She ran a hand through her raven hair as she searched fro someone to talk to, There is never anyone exciting at these big to-dos... She sighed a little and then took some steps away from her ever-so-comforting wall in order to attempt to mingle with everyone else.

"Straight forward and to the point. I'll remember that when we unmask later on, miss Emily."Zidane nodded slightly, her small smile widening for a brief moment. "Yes. I am a student, and you are quite correct. There are other areas to Koiji than the school, but that is where I spend most of my time nonetheless. There, or reading peoples works in the Writing room."
The green wigged girl caught a sense of vague, though not impolite, impatience. As if Emiliy wanted to do more than just chat with her. And who could blame her. After all, people had begun arriving now, and there were more choices than Zidane and her the home-made extravagance.
"My but you do seem interested in going elsewhere." Zidane shrugged lightly. "Suit yourself, but do know I'm going to try my damnedest to figure out who you are before midnight." She winked playfully- the reply wasn't meant to be as curt as i had sounded- though the effect was lessened by having a mask on, and turned to scan the crowd again, attention already drifting from the girl in blue as she stood waiting for some type of farewell.

Emily smiled, though didn't make a reply to Zidane's first or second comments. When Zidane mentioned that Emily's attention seemed to be elsewhere, she looked apologetic. Or, rather, she would have, if there was no mask covering her face. "Oh, I'm just anxious to meet everyone else here. Maybe talking with them will help me figure out their identities." She grinned at Zidane, who had turned her back. "I wish you luck at figuring out who I am, Miss Zidane."
There was a girl wearing a mismatched outfit. Half Hawaiian and half formal. It was an interesting choice of dress, at the very least. She wondered if the girl was making a joke, or if she just didn't have anything else to wear. Or maybe she just dressed to be comfortable. "Hello there!" She greeted with a smile as she made her way over. "How are you this evening?
"You can call me Emily, but what should I call you?"
