Recently, I was banned on the suspicion of recieving botted gold/buying gold, but I knew that I had clearly never purchased any gold, and I do not have any botting scripts. I sent out an inquiry, and also asking a mod for more help of the situation, since I was in a frenzy about my account being banned, and having no way to tell how it happened. It turned out a kind friend giving me a donation of 205k through some mule, which I found out was a suspected gold seller, was what earned my banning. I fought it though, with all I could. I didn't know it was botted gold, and I had no way of knowing either, or knowing if it was a gold dealer my friend had used. The one thing that saved me though, was having gift credits. I had an inquiry in with them, since I still had gift credits on my account, and I wanted a refund. Instead, they finally offered to deduct the 'botted' godl from my account, so that the gift credit problem would be solved.
After this occurance, I decided that it was my job to find out as much information about botting bans, and banning in general that I could, to help disperse of some of these myths, and also help people get their precious accounts back.
Important information to know
1) The first step you should take after finding out you have been banned is fill out a general inquiry form, and also one for the gaia store if you have any unused gaia gift credits still on your account. More than likely the general inquiry will not be answered for weeks. You must have patience. They have a lot to take care of.
2)If you are impatient, pick out one or two mods to send a PM to asking about your account banning. Try to make it short and sweet, and as polite as you can manage. The mod will understand you are a bit upset, but it is not their fault you were banned. Treat them as politely as possible, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask whatever your little heart desires.
3)A good fact to know is that a member is never banned on the mere suspicion of botting or other illegal activites. This is a direct quote from one mod about this:
Quote:
On Gaia no one is banned on mere suspicion. I am not at liberty to discuss procedures with you, but people are not usually banned for receiving botted gold in a legitimate way (such as a balanced trade).
By legitimate, balanced trade, they mean paying a fair price for a certian item/s.
4)When you recieve a large donation (100k+), it may come under suspicion, especially if he/she is a suspected gold dealer. Large donations are nice, but always be wary. You wouldn't just take $100 bill someone handed you on the street, same applies for gaia.
5) NEVER sell something worthless (Such as a brown beatle) for an obscenely high price (like selling said beatle for 432k)
6)Profiting from the efforts of botters is also forbidden, and accounts found to be recieving botted gold or items are banned as well. This is one of the reasons buying Gaia gold with real life money is against the rules---it almost always comes from a botted source.
7)Never be afraid to ask a mod a question. They are there to help you. As long as you are polite and not harassing or rude, chances are the mod will respond in roughly 24hrs. If you are recieving a donation of 100k or more, and wonder if it came from a botted source, PM a mod before accepting the trade. Its better to be safe, than sorry.
