I tripped over a flag and almost fell at a football game once.
I somehow managed to catch myself though.

But still,
it was kind of embarassing.

Well, my shoe fell off when we were learning new drill during practice, but nothing major.

We has this ripple thing, and we were supposed to crouch, but the field was all wet, so when I crouched, I slipped. Didn't fall, though.

For some reason the color gaurd thought it would be convienent to put their flags behind the pit, where ironically the clarinets have to march in a line, it was during a field show too. Me and a couple other clarinets saw them and stepped over them, but everyone else tripped and almost fell. (we got lucky ><)

Last season, we had to march on a field that was literally all mud. I think I may have ruined my pants...

Anyhow, I can't say it wasn't the most fun I've had doing a show, and going gung-ho into splits in the mud was an experience I'll never forget.

Once during a performance.
At championships.
It FELT like I was down for an eternity, and I was front and center when it happened, but nobody in the crowd even saw it.

Okay. I've fallen twice so far.

once was during band camp, and we were practicing this set where we had to jazz run backwards in 8 counts, and I fell. My trumpet went flying (luckily one of my friends caught it) and i fell to the ground, and ended up bruising my tailbone, haha.

Then this other time, it was a home game and we were performing at half time, as usual, and the grass was wet, and I fell FRONT AND CENTER and was so disoriented i kinda just sat there for a minute, then i was like OH s**t! better get up! haha. It was so funny.. and embarrassing. blaugh

i haven't fallen, but one time, during a parade, the drummer in front of me did. She caught back up with us, then our BD ran through the band to give her her sticks. That story got in the yearbook this year.

During practice, I was marching backwards and the person behind me was too close. The second I marching on her foot, we fell and a whole line of flute players almost tripped over our bodies.

During a marching show, a girl walked into the base line. It was an accident.
But it was pretty funny, because still placed really high at the competition! biggrin

I never fell at a competition (know on wood)

but at practice, you better believe it. I have two stories, one of which includes me.

1) It was my freshman year and there was a set where we marched backwards for too few counts with too many yards so we were running backwards pretty much (actually we ended up jazz running backwards). It was me, and two other clarinet girls who had it worse. I had to rely on the girl behind me to make it so I could. One day, she didn't. She fell short and I ended up stepping on her foot, she pulled it out from under me while I was still going and the girl following me ran into me. All three of us fell on the 50 in the center and they had to stop for us.

2) It was muddy and we were doing what is called a diamond cutter. This is where there is a diamond in a diamond in a diamond. The center and outside are going in one direction and the middle is going in the opposite. Its really fast and really difficult. Its pretty much Nazareth's trade mark move. Anyway, it had rained and we have a terrible field. We were doing this and the entire Tuba section fell into eachother and pretty much any poor soul around them. It was so bad. We have 4 LARGE Tubas (not sousaphones) and I believe they were in the middle diamond. It was quite dangerous

luckly I've never fallen....yet and hopfully I never do. I've almost fallen lots of times. All of then were when I was marching backwards. The person next to me in line hardly ever showed up so he really didn't know his sets. Oh we had this one set this year where the whole band went from a dimond to a stright line. Well our tuba player had to pretty much run backwards to make it in time. He was supposed to be next to me. The first few times we did that set he nearly ran me over. We got it in the end. I played louder if he was going to run me over and he could fix himself so he wouldn't.

No one fell down but it's funny. One time at pratice my bd had us all get in one line and march down the field with our eyes closed. That was bad. I drifed towards my friend Kiel and so did the person on the other side of him. By the time we got to the end Kiel had been pushed out of the line. The best part was that he got in trouble for not staying line and my bd wouldn't believe him that it was Cathy and I that pushed him out. We didn't mean to of course.
