So you've finished your concert for this year. Good for you! Now what? What does your band director do with your band until the end of the year?
We're having a Guitar Hero Tournament all this week in Band.

I'm not sure what we are going to do in band now, but we had 2 days of "study hall" last week.

I wish my director would let us do that...One kid brought in DDR once, but our director yelled at him and made him disconnect it, right after he finally got to work.
Anyway, our concert's tonight, but we don't have a break right away. Instead, we have to get ready to march in the Memorial Day parade (one or two in a row, I believe).
We'll probably have a party tomorrow, though, like we always do after a concert. Then, after the parade, it's basically a free-for-all, where he brings out a tv and we watch movies (like Drumline), and basically have free periods until the end of the year. It's great when yearbooks are out.

We have three to four concerts throughout the year, but we're currently in a state where we are done with our music.
So right now, we are practicing rhythms, intervals, scale spelling and such for finals, and sightreading as practice.
Marching Seasons starts sooonnn, so we're all uber excited for that. =D

We used to play dodgeball, but we have a different director this time. We'll probably prepare for graduation after Thursday's concert (and we'll fit dodgeball in there one day). After Jazz night, the Jazz band won't meet (thank goodness).

Well both our spring concert and our ensemble concert were on the last two weeks of school and we still had stuff to do because our band is always busy for some reason.

Well, since it's our last year at Seneca, Hartmetz gave us Marching Band music. Whether we're in MB or not next year...

After the concert...we get congratulated and that's it. We do nothing. At all. And I always get sad because we never had anything to do at the end of band.

Usually we do have some little celebration crap but I tend to be anti-social when i'm at school.
Waistell just gives us new music or ensemble groups to work in, if she even thought about giving us MB music i'd pass out. (I wish our school had orchestra)

As a teacher, just after the spring concert, we listen/watch to the recording and discuss what was good, what was bad, and how we can improve. Then I take out the recording of the winter concert, and we compare and note how much we have improved.
As for the rest of the year, well, we practice on the rudiments, such as scales, shifting, double stops, vibrato, music theory and history, and the like. I also allow a little of small ensemble work, but I try to keep the classroom setting going to prepare for finals and arm my students with skills and knowledge they will need to further themselves as musicians.

Well, the day after we watch our concert, we comment on how bad the sixth grade concert was (seriously, they're worse than we were in sixth grade-which is pretty bad xd ), comment on our own playing, and eat glazed donuts. =D
The rest of the year we play out of a workbook and sight read.

We usually have a day off, then start to get out new music. When it's after the winter concert, our band director's nice enough to let people who want to study for finals study during band, as we're all just playing for fun.
