Ok to be honest I had this thought randomly but isnt this how we get the best questions in life?
Do you believe in destiny? Why or Why not? If we are free to choose our own path how can we know were it may truely take you?
Note: Im not talking about god/religon so please dont go in to the subject more than nessisary.

I believe there is are destinies, but it's our choices that shape them and can re-shape them. Every action has a consequence, be it good or bad. But the Goddess Renenet does know exactly what those outcomes will be and the effects they will have. As many people who have 'found their calling' can tell you, once you find yourself doing what you love to do for a living and see the effects that lifestyle has on others, weather others means human or animals, those immediately around you or many people, you begin to see where exactly you fit in with the larger picture and become content with your life, thus realizing your 'destiny'. But nothing is set in stone until we decide to make it so.

No, I do not believe in destiny. Everything has a reason. It all literally comes down to Chaos and Planck Time.
For those of you who think of chaos as lack of order, you are correct. However, Chaos is also a chain reaction. Take a stone on a slanted cliff. When that stone falls, it connects with others, and soon, many stones may be rolling down that hill, throwing normal order and peace off course.
Planck Time is more complicated. This measure of time is approximately ten to the negative, forty-third power seconds.
Small things do count.

Perhaps add onto what dreams into nights yami said? Anyway, I do believe that there are somethings that are destined to happen. They can vary from person to person, but death is one of them. I also think that there are certain events people are destined to go through that are different. An example would be winning the lottery, and then actually doing something that benifits the world with that money. That would maybe be destined for one person whereas another person may be destined to be broke and homeless for a while before becoming an influential figure.

Well destiny has already been picked out for u therefore through out your life it is destined that u do so and so but, u can also alter your destiny by doing secondary things and not the primaries. But in the end if something is already destined to be then it can't be changed by any circumstance.
So the next time u go see a movie if the person is destined to save the world and he dies or something then they have to make a part 2 because he was already given that path to save the world when he was born. But if there is no part 2 then the movie was terrible no real meaning in the movie

Well, every day is a new day of choices, and choices day to day add up into a path. every choice has a consequence, and the consequences of the choice is destiny. I am into God, and I believe that he can change the consequences of our decisions, and direct us to better choices leading us to a better destiny. It's a Jesus thing. If you want to know more, just pm me and I'll gladly do my best to answer.

I think destiny is a nice idea created by people to make them feel special. But personally I would hate to have my future set in stone.

I don't believe in destiny.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that everything in our lives is completely random and lacks order. What I'm saying is that people don't follow a set path through their whole lives.
I do believe that people have their own journey which will lead them to fulfillment. I've heard it called a "personal legend". Basically, your personal legend is what you were born to do. It's an amalgamation of all your talents, interests, and passions into one goal.
The thing is that your personal legend can be hard to find. Most people don't ever find theirs, and they go through life by their own hands.

I sorta believe in destiny.
I think more on the lines of that stuff happens and we are the way we are for a reason. You don't get to choose who you meet during your life, and some of the people you do meet can leave a lasting impression on you. Also, your qualities and personality can leave a lasting impression on someone else, and you both can grow from it. Chances are you could greatly change at least one person's life during yours, but whether it's for better or for worse can vary.
On more religious terms, I believe that God made us the way we are for a reason. We can have our entire future planned out, but sometimes those plans change for reasons beyond our comprehension.

I partially believe in it. I mean it'd be a cool thing if you were going to be someone you wanted but personally I rather think that if you CAN shape your own future. If you believe enough and are extremely willing. What you do determines who you are. Destiny..I'm not sure if I believe it or not....

Heh. I don't believe in destiny at all. I believe that we weave our own paths. The choices that we make are what leads us to where we are now. We have control of our lives. We have free will and wield it in whatever way we please, generally speaking.

I do believe in destiny, but not in the cut and dry way it's usually percieved. I do not think that we arrive on this earth with our destinies preordained, but rather we are born with an infinite number of paths our spirits can take through life and that it is our own choices that create our so called destinies. I also believe that each path you choose to take is a way for us to be taught a particular lesson, something like an evolutionary step for your soul/spirit/whatever you want to call it. I also think that our spirit cycles through lives untill we've learned every lesson we need to know before we can be allowed to "move on" to whatever may be next. As hookey as it may sound to some.
