Hi everybody! I'm really excited, I'm going to the regional mathcounts competition tomorrow. Anybody have any advice? Anybody know what mathcounts is? Thanks!

I'm wearing my Mathcounts T-shirt right now. When I was in the eighth grade, our team made it to state. It is a lot of fun.
I have a couple of things that I would advise.
First of all, make sure not to get too stressed about it. If you're in Mathcounts, then you enjoy math. So just have fun with it!
Secondly, make sure you know your probability. There are so many questions on probabilities. Make sure to prepare for that.
Brush up on a couple of geometry rules. Make sure you know things like the special right triangles (45,45,90 and 30,60,90 right triangles). Area and Volume of shapes are good to know too.
Make sure you know your basic algebra. Can you manipulate numbers in an equation to solve for something? Can you group like terms? This is a good time to think about that.
Finally, don't get yourself so worked up that you reread a question over and over again. Find out what the question is asking, then find what information you need to draw from the problem. Drawing a picture or imagining it in your head also helps greatly.
Well, I hope I helped some. Please tell us how it went after you're done! Good luck!

Mathcounts was cool... I sucked miserably at it, I'll admit, but hey, our team went to state for the past two years.
...Too bad I never went to state whatsoever. >.>

Never heard of a maths count, but it sounds like a thing I went to when I was 13, They had like teams from everyschool in our region. My team came 5 equal (YAH!).
That was fun. The funniest thing is I know one of the guys in the team we equalled with, and he is now in the same maths classes as me at Uni
