Well, I'd eventually like to try knitting mail, but I have so much (sewing, embroidery, fighting and wood carving) on the list with more priority.
I like the look of what I saw, but one reservation, for things like the chainmail bracelet and earings, won't hair get pinched and caught in there, causing slight pain and discomfort?

Have you considered trying to do some nice riveted maile?
Butted is fine for jewelry but you should think about trying to make the riveted for other purposes.

It looks really nice *envy* I don't have chainmail yet .... *YET* ... But I've been doing some wire work. *shows off mad skillz* I made everything by hand, from wire except for the beads, and the clasp! And yes I realize the circle for the leaf (real bone! O.O) is a little off ... but I havn't gotten myself a jig board yet! sweatdrop So everything's done by hand with pliers! sweatdrop (Hmm... looks really small on here, but it's actually about cleavage length! 3nodding heart ) eek But where did you get those leaf charms, I really like those gonk *can't find any really nice Medieval looking charms here* whee Though I have TONS AND TONS of hemitite! biggrin It was on sale for about $2.50 per string of hemetite, buy 10 get 2 free! xd But I'm planning on getting some chainmail by the end of august! twisted I've already gone internet searching for some jewellery patterns! 3nodding heart

And I'd have to use patterns to start! I concentrate too much on one part at a time, rather then the whole - so I'd get lost otherwise! xd Hmm ... Merchent, eh? I'll have to look around the net! sweatdrop Unfortunatly not many of our events up here in the little shires in the north gather many merchents! sweatdrop And sadly, I've not yet gotten my hands on real amber .. yet!! But I've been searching for some useable amber, but for the time being I'm stuck with amber-look-a-likes! cry I bought some garnet, then realized that it was too small for my gage wire! gonk Or at least most of it ... if I actually went through the entire thing, bead by bead, I'd probably find more then two that worked! xd

I've made a couple more necklaces that are ... period-istic-ish! sweatdrop And a set of earings to go with them. But I'm staying in Tir Bannog with Lady Ysabelle and Lady Magpie at the moment. But as soon as I get back to Cae Mor, I will take pictures and post! 3nodding heart
