Just saw yesterday afternoon Howl's Moving Castle. Sadly I had to see the english version and not the japanese one. I was just wondering if anyone else saw it and whether you liked it or not.
I liked it. and also if you read the book or not. I read the book also.
Just thought I'd also like to mention that I like all of Miyazaki's work.

I agree with you! I saw it and much to my annoyance it was the English version stressed I have not read the book it was based on, but I enjoyed the movie. I also adore the music. Joe Hisaishi is a wonderful composer. He has a very distinctive sound too :heart Muoki Just thought I'd also like to mention that I like all of Miyazaki's work. What is your favorite Miyazaki film? (I am also a fan of his) Last time I was in Japan I was able to see the Ghibli Museum. That was a cool place!

I havent seen Moving castle yet (actually forgot it was coming out!). I do love Spirited Away though. My first weekend in Japan I went to an elementary school and for the summer the kiddies had just gotten the movie. Anyway, a co-worker and I watch the movie and she interpreted the entire movie for me. After that i got the DVD and watched with English subbies. I like the movie because of my experience in watching it and that it just speaks so much to me about friendship and how far friends will go to help you. crying

My favorite Miyazaki film is Spirited Away, but I own Castle in The Sky and watch it quite frequently in both english and japanese. it's funny how in the different language versions they say different lines at the same place.

I LOVED HMC! heart I had to see the English version, too, though. gonk I saw it in the theater near Japantown in San Francisco.
Princess Mononoke/Mononoke-hime is one of my favorites. And as is for many Americans, I like Spirited Away, too.

I thought it was a wonderful movie (: It really had an interesting premise, but OF COURSE Miyazaki's work is ALWAYS good. I do find it a shame that Disney released it though...
I loved it when he was all lethargic because of his hair. That was great (:

Howl's Moving Castle was great!! Even better than I expected. I love how you never know exactly what's going to happen in Miyazaki's films. I, personally, think he is FAR better than Disney ever was. Do you think in 50 years there might be a "Miyazaki" channel?? Hell, at the rate he's going... he'll take over the Disney company, huh? As long as they don't play that god-awful anime "ghibli's." I was utterly shocked at that anime, as it definitely live up to my standards as a studio ghibli anime.
And what was the moral to Howl's Moving Castle? I think it was... "If you find a spirit or fallen star on the ground... DON'T EAT IT!!"
I also just saw the movie "Steamboy" which has a LOT of similarities with Howl's Moving Castle but is completely different. They both involve moving castles... just Steamboy is about science and HMC is about magic. But they both seemed to be waxing philosophical about war. Don't shoot me, but I liked Steamboy just a tad more than Howl's Moving Castle... but they are both TOP RATE anime movies!

Supah Ritz awesome movie. ^___^ Howl is HOT. HAI! ^_^ i want to see the movie so bad, i'm a Diana Wynne Jones fan and i when i heard about the movie i was exstatic! my favorate author AND an anime. *wipe tear away* dreams really do come true. but i was rather dissapointed at somethings in the movie (i bought the book thingy to read the story plot) for instance how the castle wasn't really a CASTLE and how michel (who had fallen in love with martha[who dosen't exisist in the anime]) was changed to a little boy names Markl and various other things like the witch of the watse's apperance, COMPLETELY different in the book. but i still really want to see the movie anywho.
