Okay i know his real name is ben but he will always be herny in my heart (which is quite weird because i never thought that i would have room in my heart for the bug eyed creep eek ) Anyways smile ! why does he have a tumor? what about that one africa american lady that had beast cancer and lock's leg, the island healed them. Why not henry? wahmbulance

Yeah, that is strange. I agree with the idea that the island is rejecting him. I think the others are 'good' but some of them do very wrong things. I think murder is completely wrong no matter who you're killing. And the Others are very wrong to kill the plane crash survivors just because they're not 'good' people. You don't really choose who you.. you're so influenced by your genetics and environment.. it's very hard to change and become someone else.

Mabey he's been healed before and his body is immune to the island's healing properties? Just trying to throw something other than 'teh ubar gud guy i5land doesnt lik his EBILNESSS!'

although I agree that the island is probably rejecting him and it is probably his fault. I also think he's not as beaten as we all think he is and that he's still a step ahead despite seeming to loose alot of loyalty from his people. Which leads ME to wonder, what is his new goal that is worth the loss of complete control of the others?
hey wait, mabey the tumor wasn't cancerous and the island just didn't pick up on the flaw? Did we ever find out if it was malignant?

I think the island is rejecting him.
We didn't find out if the tumor was malignant... but a tumor that size would have, at the very least, paralyzed him or caused other significant damage to his spine. His toes were always tingly before the surgery because it was cutting off some of his nerves.

Ben went to the island when he was only a child, when his dad got a job working for Dharma. Remember Rodger the Workman, the body in the van? That's Bens dad. I'd have to say that the reason Ben has a tumor is because whatever force is acting on the island, it is sentient and really doesn't like Ben.

Remember that there just so happened to be a spinal surgeon on a plane that crashed on an unfindable island in the middle of the ocean where there are wierd time delays. So maybe Jacob made Ben have a tumor, so that he would try to make friends with the newcomers? Ps Seriosly, anyone who says Bug Eye Creep again is gonna get a big smack.

I don't think that Ben's really the type to "make friends" blaugh
That seriously made me giggle a little.
But still, I think I take back what I said earlier. Having faith has been a recurring theme in Lost, so this could easily be a test. After all, he only knew about the tumor two days before a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky.
I don't think Locke is there to replace him, I think Locke's supposed to help him. I think they're supposed to work together.
