One of the rare interesting threads in the GD mentioned prom, and it got me thinking... I know some of us haven't been to a school dance in a long time, and some of us were just there as recently as 5 years ago... but what were they like? What kind of music was played? What did your tux or dress look like?

It doesn't have to be a prom, if you didn't have one or didn't go. Any dance will do. Pictures would be great too.

I'm just in a nostalgic mood, and I guess that translates into wanting to share memories. sweatdrop

I only went to my Senior Prom and that was back in 2001. My dress was an irridecent pink/purple color. I love that dress ^_^ It was a b-day gift from my friends that year because they knew there was no way I could have ever afforded that dress on my own.

Any ways, the theme was a Mid-Summers Night's Dream. Music well what I remember of the music was a lot of Shania Twain music at the very end...right about the time my then boyfriend broke up with me.

I remember my senior prom. I wore a black tux jacket with a metalic blue vest and matching tie. my date wore a hunters green dress, it was awsome. I also got to drive my dad's expensive car too. the music was varied, lots of rock rap and country (the country mainly was played for slow dance purposes.). I had fun that night, cause after prom, we had a aftre prom party and got free bowling and food at a local bowling alley for like 8 hrs. they also raffled off things like cd players and even a 30 in. TV.

I never went to any, actually. I'm not a party/dance kind of person.

A night to remember, by Madonna was our theme song. And our colors were champagne and green.

The last dance I went to was a school dance in 7th grade. I didn't really dance all that much either. Just went into the gym and played with a basketball when I wasn't standing against a wall, just listening to the music. I only went so I could say I've been to a dance.

Besides, I was constantly picked on every single day. Why would I want to purposely be around the ones who always made me feel like crap? It's why I don't like people even now, and avoid them as much as possible.

I don't even think I'll go to my high school graduation. I have nothing to say to my former classmates.

I'd prefer if they were all dead, though.

Well since I started the topic, I'll add to it.

My junior prom was crap. They played rap too loud the entire time, and a friend had talked me into a cherry red gown. I'm so pale I looked like vanilla on blood.

My senior prom, on the other hand, was great. I had an emerald green gown with gold trim, and my dad had taken me all over getting my hair and nails done. (He's a truck driver, so you can imagine how much fun that was for him.)

Seems like a lot of people have bad memories of prom. sad I'm sorry if I brought up bad memories.

My Parents Bribed e to go to my Senior Prom. I was facing a Technology Major, my interests at that exact point wan't dating, and I was perfectly happy with that. My Parents disagreed, and paid for everything, the roses, Tux Rental, tickets to teh Prom, and even lent me their car('01 Grand Prix, loved it while they had it). I decided to ask a friend out(as previously stated, wasn't interested in starting a relationship with anyone), which was a mistake, as she appparently had a crush on me, and thought I was returning her feelings. I felt like such an a** after that sad

that was my Senior Prom(except, I didn't wear a Red dress, wouldn't have matched my date sweatdrop ). They started out great, they rented a Mansion out with a gorgeous courtyard, and great ballroom.

Then, Whitey-ville Mormon-Utah people, they played Rap teh entire time. Not one Slow dance. Just a bunch of Peter-Priesthoods and Molly Mormons girating on teh ballroom floor.

We left after teh first hour. we decided on an Ice-Cream Shop on the Boulevard with a Jukebox, got about $5 of quarters together, and danced there.

The only school dance I ever went to was my prom (1996). I'd like to say it was fun, but it wasn't. The photographer was really slow, so me, my date and my friends stood in line waiting to get our pictures taken half the night. When we finally got to sit down and eat the food was terrible and cold. You couldn't dance because they didn't leave much room for a dance floor to begin with, plus the line for pictures went through it. The only fun part was the very end. Everybody formed a huge line around the room and did the YMCA.

My school ball was fantastic! I had a brilliant time -though looking back, I don't know WHAT I was thinking with that dress! Then, at the after party, my date (a guy I had had a crush on since primary school -oh, forgot to mention, my high school was girls only) kissed me, and I was ridiculously happy! Then the next day I got a menacing phone call from a girl who had left our school the year before -it turned out he was her boyfriend, and hadn't bothered to let me know he was seeing anyone. It kinda took the shine off things a bit...

My prom was pretty funny honestly. I went with one of my guy friend's (whom ask me because he was gay and didn't want anyone to know). He made my corsage. I wore a rust colored dress. Now the reason this was all funny was because i was goth in high school. So even the principals freaked out when they saw me in make up and a dress. Plus i could smoke in front of them and they couldn't do anything.

Ditto. I mean, I didn't put up much of a fight, but if my mom were to drop that much money, I'd rather it'd have been just handed to me as cash.

Senior Prom (2003 -- I'm just 21, yo) didn't end up being that bad. I went with my then-boyfriend who is a terrible dancer but was happy to be there, at least. We doubled with two of my best friends (one of whom is now my current boyfriend, actually).

I wore a long, lacy black dress and a big pink-and-white fake flower in my hair. My toes and fingernails were both a soft, pearly pink, and I wore shoes with pearls on them to match my pearl necklace. People were surprised to see me all girly and dressy because I was normally just the chubby loudmouth chick who worked for the school paper. So there are a looot of pictures of me floating around from Prom. It's kind of embarrassing, but at least I know I looked good that night.

The greatest thing about Prom was that there was a room for karaoke, and while they didn't have much of a selection, nothing could've been better than making a fool of oneself amongst others who are willing to do the same.

You don't need a date to have a good prom. I went to my Sr. prom and I didn't have a date, but since it was my classmates, I had fun dancing anyways. I did dress up, of course. I recommend everyone go to the prom at least once. That was 1991 for me. Wow! I am feeling older. lol
