They're not necesarrily(?) easy, they're just predictable. They're perfect shielder's, shield grabbers, etc.
They aren't the best to practice with. Nothing beats playing an unpredictable human opponent.

Yeah, they are a bit easy. But if you only have a few friends that still play Smash Bros. as well as you do, then you'll want to practice with three computers if you want to be prepared for a four player free-for-all. wink

3 level 9 computers is still pretty easy. you need to able fight like 6 or 7.

i belive that I read somewhere that the level nines in Melee are equal to only the level sevens in Smash Bros.

To keep this short:
Don't play level 9's, a human (No matter how stupid) is always going to be better to play against. CPU's are predictable, making you predictable. Human's react in ways only humans can, and thus are more realistic opponents. In the end CPU's will make you worse and not better.
If you must practice with CPU's play against level 1's as they have better DI (Directional Influence) than Level 9's.

I think level nine is kinda easy. I usually can't get more than two kills onthem, and I get sudden death a lot, but that's because of my lack of playing abilities.... I still win sometimes though.

Level 9 CPUs are too easy. And no matter how hard they made them in Brawl they'd probably still be pretty much predictable.
The best way to get better is to play humans and go to tournaments.
Smashfests happen alot, just check out Smashboards and look for your area.

It's true that the CPU is way predictable. After fighting lvl.9 opponents all the time, I was completely unprepared against my friend... If he were on a platform above me, I'd charge an up-A smash move because a CPU would just drop down right on top of it... and the embarassing thing was that right after that, he said, "Haha, fighting CPU's has spoiled you." It was sad. emo

Of course level 9 sucks. When I need to train for a tournament I put one level 9 but with a 9 handicap and I lower mine to 1. With those handicaps the computer can kick you out with damage as low as 20%. If you want to kick the computer out he needs to have 500% or more. It's a good way to train. It teaches you to dodge a lot.

That's a neat idea! I hadn't thought of it. Dodging is what I need to work on, too. I'll try it out...
