*~*The Ten-Thousandth Ball*~*

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen of the Koiji Romansu, to the first of a possible monthly ball!
This is completely optional, first of all, and is just for sheer fun and out-of-character role playing.
Yes, I said role playing.

Basically, I want you to role play yourselves, getting ready for and attending the Koiji's Ten-Thousandth Post Ball.
You can arrange dates over PMs if you'd like, and just fly with a nonchalant role play!

No profiles required.
Just be yourself, and have a blast.

[/Illy's silly idea of the month]

P.S. Please read everything on this page.

~Plot Sorta Thing~

You're excited. It's finally come; the Koiji Romansu Ball. Everyone will be there, from close friends to new people you don't even know. It's a time for, yes, a formal dress dance, but also a time for friends to be together and relax in one another's company. A time for fun, meeting new people, and perhaps a romantic moment or two. Sounds like fun, right?

On the night of December 27th, 2006, the Ball will have its grand opening. Up until then, it'll be one very long day. Starting on this day, December 22rd, you'll be getting ready for the Ball. Maybe you'll do some last minute shopping, perhaps spending the day with your date, or maybe you'll just be looking for someone to go with. Who knows?

This magnificent dance will be held at the grand manor of Gabriel, whose middle and last names were never formulated. It is to be found on the outskirts of of a large city, down in a lone valley. How do you get there? Either walk, or take a coach. However you plan to attend, make sure to be there before seven PM sharp, for that's when the gates will close.

Illy had some crazy idea a LONG time ago, and only now is he actually taking the time to go through with it.
<<;

Basically, I want you to role play yourself.
Yeah, you can give yourself wings or something, but I want the look of your "character" to be the basics of what you look like, act like you normally act, speak as you do, and whose overall persona mirrors your own.
Sounds like a terrible idea?
TOO BAD! D<
It's happening anyway.
'tis your choice to attend, but I'd like as many people here as possible.
o=

This event will be going from today, December 22, until January 6.
Today until December 27 will be ONE DAY.
'cause I realize we won't all be here at the same time.
On December 27, the day will end.
On December 28, the sun will rise on the day of the Ball.
At seven PM (Central Time in the real world), the Ball will begin.
If you didn't make it in time, be creative and stoofu.
xP

Understand and everything?
Awsome!
PM someone if you want them to be your date.
And PM me if you luff me have any more questions.
'kay?

Let the festivities begin!
...
Oh, and feel free to post whenever you're finished reading all of this.
But I want absolutely NO Ooc talk, 'kay?
If you post, it will be strictly role playing.
And even if you are playing yourself, keep it third person.
Even if this is an "informal" formal Ball, wants it to stay literately literate.
'kay? 'kay.

A sigh escaped the soft lips of a lone figure standing stoically atop a spire, a long black cloak caressing a pair of pitch-colored, heavy leather boots. Though it was close to twenty-two degrees Fahrenheit, and a fine mist of grey escaped at every breath, a svelte figure was clad only in a pair of baggy black cargo pants and a skin-tight, silky tunic that also shown with a glossy black brilliance. Apart from his simple garments, a silver pendant swayed in the slight breeze, a small half coin flipping back and forth at its end.

A pallid hand reached up slowly to grasp the broken sphere, closing a pair of hazel eyes as an audible sigh escaped the still full looking lips. The fingers opened slowly, eyes following suite soon after to gaze longingly at his part of the coin. It glimmered dully in the light of a crescent moon, unhindered by any cloud's obstruction.

Clutching the coin to a shivering chest, the young man leapt from his perch, spreading a pair of midnight wings to catch the wind. The giant spectres billowed out elegantly, the black feathers tapering to a crimson tip. They seemed to arch perfectly, every element flawless.

As the twin phantoms carried the being in a descending spiral, he viewed the manor that passed him by, the spire of which he'd previously been standing upon. A magnificent entrance, graced with gargantuan twelve-foot double doors -- which had been carved painstakingly into an image of a battle between Angels and Demons -- which had been inlayed with silver linings arched gracefully as the center piece of the marvelous painting. To emphasize its brilliance, a garden full of dark roses and polished fountains decorated the spacious front yard. Aside from these two spectacles, the manor itself was breath taking. Of a clear Gothic design, the dark stone and tall spires menaced the roof cowering below. Images of Angels graced each and every corner, Michael and Gabriel standing tall over the entrance, while Uriel and Raphael guarded each front side. On the back stood Raguel and Sariel, staring off to a far mountain. To complete the picture, Lucifer stood ominously atop the center and tallest tower, staring down with a look of power and hatred in his eyes.

Landing lightly with wings folding neatly behind, the dark individual looked up at each of his friends in turn, smiling softly in regards to each.

"Ready for the company in a few days?" he asked quietly, trusting each would hear his words.

Only the wind answered, though, echoing its ghostly chorus throughout the lonely valley. All was quiet, save for the wind.

"Alone again, huh?" The voice that spoke for a second time was smooth and hushed. As the multicolored irises looked down again at the pendant, they closed quickly, eyelids daring tear ducts to spill forth their essence. But not so, for as he looked back up, only a single tear slid down the pale cheek. A smile adorned the thin lips, a true face of happiness.

"Still always here, ne? Well...I won't forget. I promised, right? I'll be here waiting...For when you return."

With that, Gabriel swept his cloak around, hiding the feathery spirits beneath it. All was silent as he stepped inside his manor. All but the wind, which continued its ghostly chorus to the night.

A singing wind blew throughout the night, traveling from one end of the city to the other. From the streets lighted by the lamps, blowing against the mowed unnaturally green grass infront of cement houses elabroately made by human hands, the wind sang its nature's call. It passed from house to house, from garden to garden, through the few walking people who still stayed out of their homes in the night. Apartments and offices, stores and parking lots, all stood with their beautiful architectural design. The whole city, crafted from the beginning with human hands. But the wind had no intention of staying among the people's creations. No such intention did nature have.

The wind's soft voice still blew past the outskirts of town, past the a manor, continuing to a meadow of grass. The long untamed blades rustling from the blowing wind, tree leaves falling off to be carried away. Across the meadow, the wind still blew. It continued across miles of grass, flowers, and trees until it came to a still lake and an old thick willow. The waters rested at peace, untouched by all but the stars soft light and the moon. Up in the night sky, a silver crescent hung with all the twinkling wonders. Down with the inconsistent rustling of the grass, the tall thick willow watched over the meadow. Its branches extended out, the leaves still shading the ground below it. Not that it really mattered at this time of night, as there wasn't much light to give a shade from, but still a shade there was. And in that shade sat a boy staring into the lake.

Harrison leaned against the willow bark as his eyes black eyes took in the view. A simple dark green pants that blended with the grass at night slightly overlapping the top of his brown and somewhat fuzzy untied shoes loosely wrapped around his legs, only firm around his stomach. A shortsleeve poloshirt horizantally striped with light green, dark green, and thin orange lines clung to his body covering most the waist. Only the darkgreen collar was slightly visible as a longsleeved dark red poloshirt was thinly layered on top, covering all of the shirt and to the mid-thighs. The darkred shirt was buttoned from the top to the bottom of the shirt, and the thin dark red collar folded around the neck only revealed a little of the undershirt's collar. These garnments were hardly visible in the shade of the night, but the stars shown bright enough to reveal Harrison's figure and his clothes rustling slightly from the chilly wind. His messy, black hair stuck out from his head. The hair was thick, growing out slightly down the shoulders in the back, but the sides of the hair grew over ears and hung over his face about a half inch, and the front of his hair was trimmed from the rest and lingered over the eyebrows. His asian face wasn't all that handesome, and his tanned skin wasn't too pretty either with the rashes covering his chest, certain parts of the back of his hand, his neck, and some parts of his arms and legs. Despite it all though, in the shadowed night, Harrison sat as a mysterious figure in the nature of the night.

Harrison stared into the lake's image for hours on end, not caring about the voices that talked nonstop in his head about the silliest of things. "Hey Harrison! Are there any apples in that tree? Oh how I LOVE apples!" "Harrison...you know indulging yourself into your feelings and thoughts are not good for you." "What in heaven's name are you contemplating about this time?" His mind was unmoved by their words, those voices each as a different person's all in his head. I am going to sit here for as long as I can. It helps ease a pain in me. Especially the stars, I love the stars. Harrison lifted his head up, and through the leaves of the willow a blanket of dark and stars could be seen. Unsettling emotions stired inside him, tearing through every fiber of him one by one. And he knew it, he felt it, as of the moment Harrison was completely aware of how disfunctional he was. But as he was accustomed to, Harrison allowed it to happen as he suffered the consequence of paying no regard to his troubles. His thoughts drifted around another concern. A ball. In his mind, Harrison prayed. Not to a God, not to anyone at all. Please, don't let this pain take over. Not when the ball comes. Please.

A young woman glanced out the window as she pulled on her overclothing, mouth set in a straight, emotionless line. People always said she was so serious. Her mind was not on that topic, however- it was on the event at hand.

Since joining the elite guild nicknamed Koiji, she had met many new people, but their businesses were never quite face-to-face. It would be enthralling to meet them without any distractions. Tonight was a night for friendships, possible excitement, joy. Usually, she would have to allow herself time to get psyched, since social events were always a drain, but this ball... ah, this ball was much too momentous. Besides, she had been locked in her room the past few days, irked by the needy calls from those around her. But this was not the night to be everything. Ah, no. This was the night to be herself.

Somehow, she found herself doubting that that would be easy.

Kylie quietly closed the door behind her, shivering slightly as she walked. Gabriel's mansion was a bit away, but arriving a little late wouldn't hurt, and it wouldn't kill her to use her body. The long, black coat she had been stifled by earlier seemed much too thin, even on top of her dress. The main garment was elegant and detailed only so much to compliment, something she found to be quite her style. She actually had designed it herself and commissioned one of her close friends to it. The lady's curls swayed slightly in the wind. She had been over at her friend's house that very night, so they could doll her up. Kylie smiled at the thought. I really should learn how to do that myself sometime... even though, really, I never wear any make-up or anything. A few mumuring voices chorused in the back of her mind, which she ignored. Silly things. ...and then her thoughts turned back to where they had been focused on the entire night, despite her successes in distracting herself.

I'm young, but I radiate an aura of confidence... I think. They'll discriminate against me a bit, I suppose, but we're all so different, and yet the same, by the end of the night, it won't matter. I do hope I'll enjoy myself. And Harrison'll be there... She tucked a very dark brown lock behind her ear, allowing the thought to slide away much like the hair.

As the woman walked, she passed a lake, which was reflecting the beautiful moon and stars. She stopped. It would easy for her to walk on, but a thought held her there. There was a degree of magic involved in the viewing of the celestial bodies, but not so much for her to stop and stare. He's probably staring at some of the same things as I am, she noted herself thinking, and her mesmerized eyes suddenly snapped open. There were so many people that could apply to, so who was she talking about? Eyes ahead, she became trapped in her thoughts, delving beneath layers and layers of topics. She passed trees. Buildings. Sidewalks. People in the darkness. Now, she was over halfway there, glad she had carried her heels in her purse, though they had barely fit.

The young one's footsteps came to a slow halt, staring up at the magnificent sight before her. Her dark, dark brown, almost black, eyes stares up in slight amazement. After a few moments of silent thought and absorbtion, she made her way to the mansion, where she stopped before the door. Her pause was not due to hesitance, nervousness, or anything of the sort, but to examine the countours and details surrounding the entranceway, every last one. It was almost as if she were in a different world entirely.

Hm... I'm noticing the details again. Well, with this type of beauty, I suppose anyone would, but... Perhaps I'm still focused on artwork. I thought I'd be done with it by now. Ah, well. On with it.

Pushing the door open seemed almost disgraceful. The thing was much too beautiful to actually use. It carried magic in it. Shivering, she closed it behind her, an odd fizzy feeling occuring just as she finished contact with it. Simply expectation, she thought without thinking, gazing at the sight before her. Now, where were they? She wasn't early...

[[Apologies for breaking my own rule, but I was really hoping more people would be willing to join this.

So what do you all think of me extending the ending date to January thirty-first?

Dong...Dong...Dong...Dong...Dong...Dong...Dong.

As the grandfather clock struck seven, Gabriel sighed, running his thin fingers -- which were currently hidden in thin black gloves -- through newly washed, shining locks of wavy brown hair. A formal, dark red silk shirt hugged his waist, accompanied by a flowing black cape adorning the svelte shoulders. Velvety black pants clung to his legs in a near tight fashion, though actually remained quite comfortable. Their hems ended at his feet, which were clad in a pair of similar boots as earlier, though those on currently were of shining black leather, instead of the travel-worn material from before.

The said footwear made absolutely no sound as they tread over the elaborate, dark carpets, leading him to the front entrance when a sound caught his ear. It was faint, a sound that would most likely be missed by most, but it was still there. Unheard footsteps carried him to the entranceway, two giant wooden doors rearing in front of him.

Aside from the large aspects, though, was a young woman standing with a slightly unsure expression on her features. A very slight smile quirked the edge of the young man's lips, recognizing his friend Kylie.

"Hey! Glad you could make it down here. I know you've never been to my place before, but I thought it would be relatively easy to find." came his calm voice with a slight laugh, hand raising up to rub the back of his head momentarily.

Offering a black-gloved hand to her, the youth pulled an old-fashioned, Medieval bow, crossing one leg in front of the other out in front, and bending his back leg's knee.

"You're the first to arrive. Shall we head to the ball room?" he inquired with another small smile, a single white fang barely visible for a moment.

Kylie jumped a little, eyes widening at the sound of the familiar voice. He had caught her in the middle of staring at the grandeur before her. She had always loved big houses. His entrance had been incredibly sudden and mysteriously undetected, which led the jumpy young woman to start even more than usual. "Gabriel!" she said with an uneasy, recovering titter, "You scared me for a moment there." Her eyes flicked up and down him once, and she found herself smirking a little, more at her reaction than at him. I told myself I wouldn't flirt tonight, she pondered, still amused, But I've never quite seen someone cater to my tastes as well as this. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if all the men showed up formally. Mmmmm... Not bad.

As he spoke, she listened while nodding, then gave him a teeny grin in response. "Yeah, I really didn't have too much trouble finding my way, I just hope the others can make it beyond the gate," she said with a light-hearted tone. When prompted, she returned his rather old-time gesture as best as she could muster and nodded to his question. "I think that would be ideal, until everyone arrives at least, you know."

The place was dark, ominous in a most appealing way, a place she had seen only in the likes of her dreams. The man that owned the mansion was comfortably familiar (had that been a fang?) and a polite and pleasant host thus far. It was a bit unnerving that she was the only one there, but this particular night was one where a lot of things were going on in other parts of the city.

An upside to arriving on time was that she would know about everyone who arrived after her, who the couples were, and other social fun facts. Actually, she had yet to hear of two people who planned on going together. Exhaling in a measly sort of sigh, she glanced at Gabriel once more.

Late, as always.

Instead of gracefully waltzing into the room, attempting to give the impression that she had meant to be fashionably late, the girl instead stumbled into the night with a gentle cry, falling hands first onto the floor. Yet she had never been quite "elegant" with entrances, so it seemed almost routine when she rose and brushed herself off. Hoping desperately that no one noticed, the latecomer now attended to the strands of sandy sunshine which now irritated the skin of her cheeks. Said strands were slowly multiplying as she did so, falling from the previously groomed bun which now took more and more the appearance of a shrub on the back of her head. Waving at the man in the coach to bid him farewell, the youth tried to analyze the damage.

It was then she realized, with a groan, she had a broken heel.

Just her luck.

Jayme Sullivan, a young woman whose plans always seemed to take a fatal turn, slid a pair of slender hands down the front of her gown, attempting to smooth out the disturbances in the silky black material. Luckily her eyeliner had not been disturbed; the last thing she wanted is black smears all over her face. Eyes of deep blue scanned the scenery as she rose to her full height, a measly five foot seven inches, and searched for signs of life.

Since joining the merry troop that called itself "Koiji", the girl had grown to love the people which occupied its ranks, a deep affection pulsing for each member where they had wiggled into her heart. Many laughs and good times had been had during her time there, and for that she was more than grateful. She had been alone for the earlier hours of the night, anxiously rushing about to try to fix herself up. Unfortunately, the girl had, somewhere in the course of all this, lost track of the time and now was oh so late, sure that she had missed most of the festivities. Now she was here, standing before this giant manor, to share and enjoy what time there was left with some of her favourite people.

But before doing anything else, the female decided that she should just go ahead and rid herself of her shoes, which made her look awkwardly taller on one side. She should try to find the host and apologize for her tardiness before anything else, and that was as far as she got before Jayme had to sit down to tend to those shoes.

The shoes were a black color, simply close-toed, which matched her dress. The dress was form-fitting until its end just above the knee, where it loosened up to better enable her legs to function. Thin straps wrapped around her shoulders from where it cut modestly off just below the collar bone to the back where silk covered the majority of her ivory skin. The bare skin of her legs radiated slightly in what light there was, her toes wiggling happily in joy of their freedom.

And while hers was a face not quite beautiful, Jayme had been described as an attractive woman nonetheless. Having heard said things, the girl had simply laughed it off and declared that perhaps in body and mind, but otherwise not. But tonight was different, tonight she would shine. Thus, the gentle features of her oval face were groomed and looked godlike in this light, cradled by sunshine-tinted tresses which curved around her jaw. This was a special event, one quite important to her, and thus she could not stand to be as mundane and bland as she normally was.

So now, she decided, it was time to find Gabriel... and hope that he was in a good mood.

Clad merely in her underclothes, she stood in front of her closet, peering into in a rather standoffish manner. Were it possible to be mad at an inanimate object - though often she was - that could certainly be the feeling applied here. Previous twinges of anger at it for losing a few of her favourite pieces of casual clothing were brought back to memory as she stood there, deciding what on earth to wear to the ball. Well, she had the dress, but not the shoes she wanted to wear with it, or the stockings. Or any other accessory she thought she might need. Hands on hips, she glared at it, before stepping into the dark cavern (the closet light had burned out a couple years ago, and she still hadn't been able to replace it), and yet again began digging within its depths for the lost footwear.

Reaching behind an few old sundresses that she really should have gotten rid of, she discovered the stash of shoe boxes that she normally forgot about - out of sight, out of mind. "Aha!" She murmured in triumph, pulling them all out until she found the mauve heels she was looking for. Scrunching her nose up in distaste at having to wear the heels, since it was a formal ball, she tossed the shoes into the room proper, turning away before she could see them land haphazardly on the floor. Opening the top drawer of her dresser next, she tunneled through the belts and one set of favoured arm warmers, the scarfs and shawls never worn but oh-so-pretty, to find at last her hose. Fishnets were not exactly appropriate, nor the black thigh-highs or stripy knee high socks. Frowning at them, they were pushed out of the way as good old beige was found and slipped on.

Next the mauve skirt, long and elegant, it swished wonderfully around her hips and ankles, and she couldn't help but give a laughing twirl. She stopped quickly, getting dizzy as she rushed over to the radio to turn up the song that was playing. Humming and singing along, she slipped the top over her head, a matching one, with dark purple flowers stitched along the edge and running up, sparkling fake gems glittering in the dull light of her bed room. She shivered with excitement. She had always dreamed of going to a formal ball, and now the wonderful leader of the Koiji group had given her that chance. She shook, and let out a tiny squeal of excitement, needing a tiny release from the happiness bubbling inside of her.

Rose - so nicknamed and known by her fellow Koijians (she had too many nicknames anyways, and preferred any of them over her real name or the nicknames made from it at times) - now completely dressed, danced her way over to the large mirror and dresser, sitting down before it to do something with her hair. A dark burgundy-plum colour that she adored, her hair reached just past her shoulders, bangs sticking in the way often, as they were only on one side. Her cowlick prevented her having what she would consider proper bangs, but she liked it much better this way anyways. Brushing it out, she considered the age old up or down? Deciding that up was better for a ball, and that it would keep it out of her face, she swept it back into a ponytail, styling it into a complicated fancy bun that a friend had done for her once, and she had taken the pains to learn. Four alternating black and mauve "chopsticks" added in a fanned manner were stuck in on the one side, completing it. Pinning her bangs back, she moved on.

Hazel eyes turned a sparkling violet when contacts were added (she was blind without her glasses but endured the torture of contacts just for the colour), black eye liner then applied. Light applications of her favourite purple eyeshadow, mascara, blush and gloss finally completed everything for her preparations. Slipping on the blasted strappy heels, she grabbed her long black coat from the horrid closet and set out for the ball.

Halfway out the door, she did an abrupt 180 and went back to fetch the directions from their spot in the center of the desk - where she would see them, yet had missed them. The third set of directions she'd had Gabriel email to her (having lost the fist two after printing them out, and accidentally deleting his emails) in hand, she set out, reading them carefully for the nth time. She hoped she could find it all right, the instructions were detailed enough. Sighing, she folded the paper up and placed it in her pocket, and wandered down the sidewalk.

It was really quite lovely out, odd for this time of year, but it was nice for a change. Gazing up at the stars as she walked, she stumbled slightly on a raised piece of sidewalk. Regaining her balance, she determined to pay attention to where she was going, the excitement and jittery nerves returning to her as she thought of getting to spend time with all her special and lovely friends. Lighthearted, she hummed the last song that had been on the radio before she left, sure to arrive at the manor soon enough.

Fashionably late. Or at least, that's what he thought about it. Yeah, he might be a few minutes late, but it wouldn't really matter. Right?

As long as he didn't show up and hour late, Alex would be fine. Walking over to his closet, he slid the door aside, looking at the selection of shirts. "Hmmm...." Alex pondered, a hand at his chin. Should I wear a concert T-Shirt? No, I don't think so. What about a simple t-shirt? No, still no good. His search ended when his eyes landed on a white dress shirt with blue stripes. I guess that'll do. He thought, as he donned the shirt. He had to admit, it went well with his dark navy blue dress pants and his worn-open dark navy blue blazer.

Walking over to his computer, he glanced once more at the direction, making sure that he would remember them correctly. After doing so, he shut his computer down, and was about to walk out the door, when he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. "Aw damn." he said. He had forgotten to style his dirty blonde hair. Then again, there weren't too many styles one could go with when their hair was cut similarly to a mohawk. Quickly putting some gel and hair clay in his hair, he styled his hair up, making sure the fan of the mohawk went all the way around. Studying it with his dark hazel eyes, he made sure it was perfect. It wasn't a big mohawk, so it didn't take long to get it right, and on top of that his head wasn't shaved on either side.

Satisfied, he left his home, throwing on a brown leather jacket. Good thing the place where the ball was being held was only a twenty minute walk. If it was any longer, Alex would have hopped on his motorcycle, and the helmet probably would have wrecked his hair. Hands in his pockets, he looked around, a cool night's breeze sighing around him. Couldn't be a more perfect night for a ball. Alex thought. Within fifteen minutes, he could see the manor, and people that he knew from the Koiji entering said manor. It was going to be a wonderful ball, knowing that almost all the people he knew from Koiji were going to be there.

Walking up the final flight of steps, he looked around, half-expecting to bump into someone he knew. He could hear music playing inside, as he looked down to his watch. He was only a little late, fashionably late, some would say.

The sound of shoes on pavement caught the attention of the girl as she peered around once more in search of her target. Turning slightly, not enough to fully take her attention from the surrounding scenery in case she were to miss Gabriel if he were to walk by, Jayme set her eyes upon a man who seemed to be going to the ball, her eyes drawn more to his mohawk than the actual person himself. Her awe of his hair caused a slight tilt of the head, a smile sweeping gently onto the youth's thin lips. This, of course, not being a mocking gesture, but more one of approval.

Blue eyes clouded whilest the young woman watched after the male. She felt like there was something she was forgetting.. something tugging insistantly at the back of her mind as she studied his face. Jayme had always been excellent with recognizing faces, being a visual person.. thus she did indeed recognize the man. But, try as she may, she couldn't place something about him.. where did she know him from? Probably Koiji, seeing as he was here, but then she should know his name if that was the case.

Once more the female's delicate, artistic hands attended to her gown before she headed towards the familiar-seeming male. Her smile was unrelenting as she tried to catch up to the man, sliding a rogue lock of hair behind her ear as she approached. She wasn't quite so concerned with looks right now as she was her sight; her wild mane seemed to insist upon blinding her when she ran.

"Excuse me?" Putting all hesitations aside, she decided that it couldn't hurt to ask for some assistance in finding the host of the party, "Have you seen Gabriel?"

Now that she was closer, his features teased her memory even more as she struggled to put a name to them. The eyes stood out the most, she decided, like ones she'd known so long that it was embarrassing not to be able to place them. Biting her lip, Jayme slowed her pace and cleared her throat, looking for excuses and trying to find his name before she had to confront the almost-stranger.

She never had been good with names.

Tilting a curious head only slightly as an amused look drifted into the young woman's irises, Gabriel quirked an eyebrow ever-so slightly, another small smirk tugging at the corner of the thin lips.

"Well then, let us venture further into my abode. Please do excuse my lack of introduction of the manor; I thought it better to leave a tour for another time, as the night should instead be entirely devoted to pleasurable company and fun. Besides...I can't be giving twenty-billion tours in one night, as I assume guests will be arriving at odd hours. 'twould be absurd, ne?" spoke the being softly. "Shall we?"

Not waiting for a response, he stepped forward carefully, giving Kylie's hand a slight tug before leading her coolly down a dimly lit hallway, the walls of which were lighted with dim, blue-flame lanterns. They cast ghostly shadows along the walls, each dancing with the one opposite, though all mysteriously casting to the ground. It was as if they were among the living, their paths willed by their bearers. What an odd thought.

"If you listen closely, you'll hear the music about...Now."

As promised, a chorus of lovely melodies floated towards them, the subtle tones of a classic waltz teasing their ears as they entered a spacious room. The large, bare wooden floor spanned nearly the entire hundred by fifty foot room, a huge crystal chandelier providing the bright lighting. A few crimson and deep blue candles dotted the normal ones, combining in some places to produce a medium purple shade, again almost as if the light willed it to be so. Along one of the shorter walls was a sort of snack-bar. This was weighed down with all kinds of different delights, from simple chips and salsa/dip, to fancy-looking candies and small cakes. For liquid refreshment, the classic large bowl of punch sat in the center, equipped already with a ladle and an arsenal of cups. Though, if one would rather have a carbonated beverage, various soft drinks dotted the table as well. To complete the scene, a lounge area was set in a corner, comfy chairs and couches set in a broad circle for when any would tire from dancing.

Smiling a bit more with a soft sigh, the young man glances at his companion, speaking as quietly as always. "So what do you think of the set up? Took me a bit, but I think the turn out was quite satisfactory."

Hazel eyes twitching to the left, Gabriel blinked, smirking with a shake of his brown-clad head. "Looks like we've a few late arrivals. Can't tell who yet, but I'm sure they'll let themselves in. I did, after all, leave a sign for people who were tardy. I'm sure you spied it on your way in. Now all they need to do is follow the music..."

Rin was aware she had spent too much time getting ready and was almost late yet again. However, not too late that she would be locked out. She'd been waiting for this night, where she could spend a glorious time with her friends, languishing amongst beautiful music, good food, and an amiable atmosphere. She smiled, patting the shining black curls tinged with a reddish hue she had managed to tease her hair into. White lace, crinoline, and silk folded around her petite figure, flowing gently into a pristine gown.

The breezy, light, bouncy curls hairstyle complemented the tender, white gown, along with a few other accessories she had added to accent the outfit. The cab driver she had called was prompt, and had been waiting for her for quite a while. Patting the last puff of rouge on her cheeks, she grabbed a little purse with the invitation card and descended the staircase to the doors. Locking them behind her, she smiled apologetically at the cab driver as she handed him the address. "Thanks for waiting--" He snorted, motioned for her to get in, and proceeded to rush off.

As they traveled along, her grey eyes reflected the different scenery in the streets--children running home later than they should have been, couples walking together in the snow, their breath misting as they laughed and chatted, lone persons trudging home solemnly... A corner was turned, and the streets rushed out of her view. Instead, she was treated to the lush countryside on the outskirts. Powdery snow covered the fields, now seeming a deep midnight blue as it took on the color of the night. The smooth, level fields began converging and dipping into a gorgeous valley with a gentle, sloping entrance. The horses whinneyed a little, not expecting the mild incline, but adjusted easily to it.

Rin felt her stomach fill with butterflies as she caught sight of Gabriel's manor at the bottom of the valley. Huge events always made her nervous, but she reassured herself that one she was with her friends, everything would be alright. Peeking out of the cab window, the night wind barely ruffled her airy tresses as she took in the magnificent sight. "It's beautiful," she breathed in wonderment.

The cab driver pulled up beside the large gate, which was shut fast. Groaning and cursing to herself, she looked up and saw the large clock in the mansion grounds read ten-past-seven. "Almost made it. Oh well..." The driver disinterestedly grunted a price over the horses' pawing the ground. Drawing out the correct amount from her purse, she reached up to place it in the man's hand. He was off like a bolt of lightning. Probably back to his family for the night...

In the large gates she found a smaller, unlocked gate. Pushing it open, she entered the mansion grounds and began to walk across the mansion grounds to the main doors. It was dark, and she was afraid of the dark, so she hurried herself across, nearly tripping on her skirt a few times. Shaking, she reached the lit entrance to the manor, and took a few moments to compose herself before ringing the doorbell. It's alright. you scared yourself. There's nothing out there in the darkness. Focus, Rin.

Out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly spotted a note on the door. Upon reading it, she felt very foolish for ringing the doorbell. Blushing, she placed her hand on the door handle and pushed down. The large door gave way and creaked open into a warmly-lit entrance. She entered and closed the door behind her. The note had also contained directions to the main hall, where the Koiji Romansu Ball would be taking place. Carefully recounting the directions to herself, she made sure to not stray from well-lit hallways; she was sure to get lost with her usually bad sense of direction.

At last, after a lonely trek though an eerily-lit corridor, she made it to the glorious chamber. It was beautiful, with the bluish lights filling the room. She spotted Gabriel and Kylie walking around the hall, examining and admiring the preparations. She grinned happily. "Hey!", she called and waved as she approached them. Rin was relieved to have made it safely for the ball.
