What do you feel is the place of Existentialism in goth culture. Are they compleatly separate, or do they have a lot of similar views?

In essence we are all existentialists - goth or not - to a point.
Always questioning to certain degrees the meaning of life and our existence.
But I do see how you could relate the mindset to that of a goth.

I feel quite strongly that life has no meaning of it's own, other than that which we give it.

Existentialism, nihilism, absurdism, fatalism, and romanticism are all topics which goths tend to be interested in, thought, I wouldn't say that interest in one of those topics is criteria or characteristic of goths.

I think that a lot of people who are goth generally tend to question the world about them. To believe that the world around us really exists and isn't just a figment of some dream is what most people see, but to question which is the waking world and which is the dream is more likely to be a question that a philosopher may attempt to tackle. There are always more than one way to approach any subject including the existance (or lack of) god and a myriad of other questions that few people take the time to ponder. One of the more basic philisophical questions that most people have heard is the old "if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it fall, does it still make a sound?" Granted, most people would instantly say that yes indeed it does make a sound, but what if that tree never existed to begin with since there was no one around to validate it's existance? I'm starting to get on a tangent though. ^^*
(Wow this topic is harder to write on that I originally thought it would be.)
Philosophy in general is something that I think more people should be exposed to. It's good to broaden people's minds and keep their experiences and perspectives from being limited to just one view point.
