Me: *raises hand*


The weary hunter closes in on its prey. In a mere matter of seconds, the hunter will pounce, trapping his defenseless prey beneath him.

The hunter is close. He can see just how good his prey looks when not wearing the military’s unif--

“Brother, what are you doing?”

“Sh! Al, get down!”

Ed pulled Al down behind the shelf of the bookstore they were currently in, then peeked over the top of the shelf. Sure enough, there stood Colonel Roy Mustang, Flame Alchemist extraordinaire, not two rows over, completely oblivious to what was going on around him.

At least, that’s what Ed thought.

“Brother, I know you’ve got a crush on the colonel, but don’t you think this is taking it just a bit too far?” Al asked in a hushed whisper.

Roy froze when he heard the question. He listened to what his would-be stalker said next.

Fullmetal tore his eyes away from Flame and crouched down next to Al. “Hm, what?”

“This is ridiculous! You’ve been following him around all day long!”

“I see nothing wrong with that,” Ed replied deadpan.

“For three days!”

That explains a lot, Roy thought.

Edward gave his little brother a blank stare before saying, “And your point is...?”

“Oh, for the love of-- just tell him already!”

“No! I can’t do that!” Ed was having difficulties keeping his voice down and was drawing attention to himself. The bookstore’s customers kept giving him odd glances.

“If you don’t, then I will.”

Fullmetal shot a cool glare at Alphonse. “Fine. You do that, and I’ll tell your beloved Winry everything about you.”

You could’ve sworn that Al paled despite that blasted armor. “Everything?”

Edward smirked. “Everything.”

As Al let out a little whimper, Roy rounded the corner and asked, “Fullmetal, what are you doing?”

Ed, not quite registering who he was talking to, answered, “Blackmailing Al.”

“Why?”

“Because…” Ed turned around to see Roy standing behind him and he started. His face paled and his next words instantly died in his throat.

“Because…” Roy prompted.

Al butted in with, “He was trying to blackmail me because I threatened to tell you that he’s in love with you.” Seeing the death glare Ed was sending him, he promptly stood and ran out of the bookshop as fast as his metal legs could carry him.

Ed shot to his feet. “Al, I’m gonna kill you!” he yelled after him. He began to run after his younger brother, but a firm hand on his wrist stopped him.

“Ed, is that true?”

“Well, yeah! When I say I’m gonna hurt somebody, I’m gonna do it!” Ed knew what he was really asking about. He just chose to feign stupidity.

Roy sighed. He knew that Ed understood the question, too. “Ed.”

It seemed as though Ed had become another person. His eyes lost their fiery rage; his shoulders hunched forward, making him look smaller than he really was. He dropped his gaze. “Yeah, I… yeah.”

So, no one was more surprised than Ed when he felt lips crash into his own.

Roy pulled away and started to walk off. “I’ll see you here tomorrow, then.”

Ed dazedly touched his left fingertips to his lips before smirking.

The hunt was on.


This was one of my first attempts at writing RoyEd, and it's definitely better than my first attempt. That was a crappy little songfic ('Listen to Your Heart' *gag* so sappy it's not even funny). Luckily for you, this is not. Please enjoy, and if there's anything I can improve on, don't hesitate to tell me. mrgreen heart
