Did anyone here see Signature Winter Guard's last show Ghost Train? They made it to finals, placed tenth. Anyway! The guy that did the cartwheel catch--catching while in the cartwheel--he's out guard instructor!! It's crazy, for winter he wants us to do a quad turn-around catchign in a backbend. gonk It's gonna be crazy hard, man!

Anyway, the point of this thread is to share other crazy tricks that you've done or stuff about your instructors. Whatever. Aaaand go!

My instructor handed the rifle to my sister her second year of spinning flag, and demanded a five. First time she -ever- touched a rifle. She almost took her face out. XD

Dang. A five just cold liek that. Crazy, man. I at least had one year of rifle under my belt before a 5 was expected.

I had to throw a five on a rifle from my knees! It wasn't that hard though!

I love throwing stuff from/going to the knees! In the Band Room, you can only throw a 5+ if you're on your knees and in between these rafter things that we have.

It was cool, at the end of my freshman year, our instructor (not the same as the one we have now) taught us all 45 tosses on rifle and now I can't get enough of them! I put a 45 in the work I write all the time! It's like, mantadory! lol

I've never had to do anything crazy spinning, but drill wise, hoo boy. For our pre-game show, I'm expected to move to a spot over three yardlines and back at least that much. Not so bad. then I find out I have to backwards march it. Okay, I can handle it. Then I find out i have 12 counts to get there. So I try my best, and I'm still coming about three feet short of my spot, which is easy to tell because we're in a line. So if I don't get there in time, it's obvious. So with a lot of grumping from the guy who writes the drill and a lot of shouts all the way across the field of "Take bigger steps!" And "I'm still not making it!" he finally told us to turn around and do it. I barely make that spot now, but whatever. We havent practiced it in a while, we've been too busy with the halftime show.

:edit: we run all over the field though XD ninja I don't like it... I'm trying to come up with enough money to join a drum corp ::**drool**::

I'm nervous about all these tricks. It's crazy! I mean, this is ht einstructors first year teaching, so his style isn't so defined, and he's straight, and we all know how mature straight guys are. lol Just kidding.

Latest Update: Dance/Rifle sequence (It's technically rifle, but there's a lot of danc ein it. More dance than hard spinning) with a weird a** cartwhell at the end. I tried it and totally smooshed my fingers like 20 times before I had to get ready to march.

WHO'S SMART IDEA WAS IT TO GIVE ME A NEW DRILL SPOT? I seriously was almost screaming that last practice. They've changed my spot, and it's seriously messing me up. And they're not even done yet, they're changing more! gonk I hate it when they change stuff on me.

The craziest thing that comes to mind is two years ago, when our final flag toss was tossed behind our backs. We then had to do a '360' under it, then catch it behind us again.

I hardly ever did it right in rehersals, but always did it perfectly in competitions. Maybe that was the adrenaline.

scream I got another spot changed!! And I have to work my way between a few band members, doing work that I know will hit them if I don't keep it very small and controlled, and then I have to get through them before I have to toss a one handed parallel. I'm good with the toss, but I don't want to hit anyone when I throw it.
