A parlour-type room, the room was wallpapered in a rich burgundy, gold, and cream curliques, lit with gas lamps, their tongues of blue flame licking the glass that they were housed in. In the centre of the room was a grand piano, the ebony and ivory keys yearning to be played.

The floor was carpeted in matching hues with the walls, and some additional spots of celedon and cream, the pattern of vibrant flowers repeated throughout the room.

There are large windows facing the east, the view of even steeper hills beyond the hills of England. These are dressed with lace curtains. A working fireplace with a large mantle painted cream is opposite of these.

Also in the room are comfortable couches and chairs lining the walls, photos and portraits of the headmasters of the past forty years above.

Female students may use this room to gather with friends, study, play the piano, drink tea, or hold club/organisation meetings. Prior permission may have to be obtained to insure that the room is kept open for said meetings.

Cwen had wandered into the common room. It was somewhat nice, she thought. Funny how she had simply passed the room while she moved in. SHe sighed. It would have been burdensome to lug all the baggage around before unpacking.

The noble stepped to the piano. She wasn't learned in the ways of the piano, but she could tell if a piano was tuned or in good condition from her musical experiences. Curious, the girl tapped a key.

Thud with a musical note sounding clearly and in tune.

Cwen pressed a few more keys and amused herself. She would move on to the library afterwards.

Larisha ignored the paintings on the walls. She ignored the piano. She ignored the wallpaper, the ornate designs, the intricate details that were put everywhere.

She went straight to a couch and touched her lip lightly with her index finger, staring down at it. Then she rested her knee on it, bouncing up and down to test its springs. Soon after that she was lying down with one arm dangling off the side and her eyes staring at the ceiling, sighing. Just great. She wasn't going to go back to her room. Nuh-uh. That girl took teasing way too far. It was like beating up a little kid: just not fun. Not fun at all. Several kids passed by, enjoying the scenery. Larisha stayed where she was, then eventually turned on her side and rested her eyes. Now she was in a somewhat curled position facing the back of the couch. She took the biggest couch there was, leaving only dinky chairs. Sucks for everyone else. It would take an elephant to wake her up...

Kat opened the common room door quietly and looked in awe at the room. Always noticing details her keen eyes roamed the wall and the select furniture gathered around the sides of the room. To kat's delight there was both a window and a fireplace with a roaring flame in it's hearth. A tall backed armchair was facing the fire, and finding this to her taste Kat headed towards it, and settled in it's inviting depths.

((Here you go. I'll have her come back.))

On the way from the library back to her room, Cwen noticed that there were several others in the room. Despite her lack of wanting to socialize, she couldn't help but notice the existence of life in the area. Not really wanting to socialize, Cwen stalked into the common room and simply observed the other two occupants.

After waking up from her short nap inside her dorm room after having unpacked, Addie had felt like taking a look around the dorm building. She went down the hallway and came upon the common room. Stepping inside, she looked around in awe, her eyes gazing from the beautifully matched wallpaper to the large piano in the middle of the room to the lace curtains to the many portraits that hang about on the walls.

There were already people inside and she did not bother to make contact with them just yet. She felt the need to play the piano... At home, her mom had wanted her to play the piano, being a well-raised noble, and Addie found that she thoroughly enjoyed it. She took long strides over to the piano and sat down, her fingers softly touching the top of the keys before pressing one and heard it make a nice, crisp note. Her thin lips formed a small smile as her hands began to automatically play a song from memory.

Her fingers gracefully hit each key and together the sound filled the room with its beautiful music. After a few measures, Addie stopped, letting the last note ring before releasing her fingers from the piano's keys. Her smile became wider, after hearing the familiar music. She realised that she really shouldn't be playing the piano... otherwise the people might become curious as to how she could play so well. Since she played only a few measures, she would pretend that it was all she knew and she had learned from observing. That would do... and she gave a curt nod to herself before getting up and walking over to the large windows overlooking the hills.

"This place is so peaceful..." she muttered softly to herself as she placed a few fingers against the clear glass and looked out. Adelaide was quite sure that she would like it here very much.

Starting abrubtly as the piano key rung clearly into the slience of the room, Kat peeked around the back of the cozy chair. The fisrt thing she noticed about the girl tapping the keys in the center of the room was her hair. Scarlet, cherry red and bright as can be. After her eyes recovered from the initial shock she looked at the girl, whose face was turned away from her. She seemed not too imposing, rather stocky and lacking some curves, but she could tell she was a girl. Maybe she would go up and intoduce herself. She may as well get to know someone other than her roomate who was, for lack of words, unpaletable.

Kat turned and faced the fire, brushed out her rumpled skirts, and stood, wincing as she did so because she had been siting down for so long. She yawned quitely and walke dover to the girl. Standing just to the side of the figure she introduced herself. "Hello. My name is Katheryn. Pleased to meet your aquaintance." She curtsied slightly.

Her eyes had been scanning over the beautiful scenery before her, out of reach but still amazing, when a sudden voice sounded from beside her. Addie's head looked to the side at which she heard the voice and heard the girl introduce herself. Addie blinked a few times in surprise but then quickly composed herself before turning her whole body around and returned the curtsy. "It is very nice to meet you, Miss Katheryn." she replied.

She straightened and introduced herself also. "My name is Adelaide, but you may call me Addie. Many people seem to prefer to do so." Addie gave the girl a bright smile. "I've just arrived here... the school is awfully big, don't you think? But I think it's a great learning environment and it's very comfortable."

Kat smiled in return. It was nice to know she wasn't the only one who was overwhelmed by the giant school. "Yes. Indeed I have just arrived as well. I have not had the chance to look around the school as of yet. Just getting to my room was difficult and I shan't let myself get lost on the first day..."

Kat paused for a minute and then as if remembering something suddenly spoke again. "Addie, you may call me Kat. My name is awfully long and it is not easy to say when conversing. I agree fully with you that it seems a very comfortable place. I have not seen any of the classrooms yet, have you? What do you plan to study here?" A strand of dark hair fell across her face and she gently moved it to her back again.

Cwen decided to take a seat, taking in the scenes. Another girl had entered the room and pressed the keys of the piano. Interesting how the piano was so.. compelling. These girls.. perhaps they did all have something in common. Cwen sighed to herself. Nonetheless, it wouldn't take much to figure out who was in which class.

Larisha wasn't exactly sleeping; she was just resting her eyes. The girl rolled over and, in a heap of skirts, tumbled off her couch- with a shriek- and landed inelegantly on her side. The intricately-weaved carpet was a welcome home for her crash, and her arm was soon free of pain after she rolled onto her belly and did a push-up into an Indian-style position. She paused, flattened out her skirt- for a moment her hand reached for its opposite elbow, but she decided against it- and looked around the room at the array of females.

She then looked down at her apparrel. Her hands rested on her gray skirt, torn in some places with a long thread drooping down from its hem. Larisha grabbed it and tore it off- making sure she didn't unwind any more of the scratchy wool skirt- and moved her arms up to her blouse to pull it over her stomach. Honestly, why did her parents spend more money on her sister Tara if they wanted Larisha to learn to be a lady? It was enough to confuse and infuriate her.

Then her eyes wandered to Cwen, sitting daintily just like a noble should. Larisha's index finger tapped her lip for a few seconds, then she stood and strode over to the redhead.

"You," she directed at Cwen, "are you going to the Ball tonight?"

It was more like a demand.

She nodded once. "Kat... alright. I do not mind calling you by your full name but if you do prefer... " Addie smiled again at the other girl. "No... we shan't get lost now, should we?" A light giggle escaped her lips as she finished talking. Walking over to one of the large chairs, Addie sat herself down and patted the armchair beside her for Kat.

"I, too, have not seen any of the classrooms yet... I've only just arrived a whlie ago, you see..." And the question about what to study left her a bit stuck. Thinking on it for a moment, "Well.. I plan to study anything and everything!" Addie finally said enthusiastically. "I've always wanted to know everything I possibly I could... it's so exciting.. the way our world works! Don't you think so?" she asked Kat, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
