During Obsidian Butterfly (I'm rereading), Anita refers to Edward with WASP breeding...? What is WASP?
It's probably plainly obvious but I think I'm missing something...

Not at all, I've been wondering the same thing for the longest time...
Which means I actually have no answer to your question, sorry... sweatdrop
I've just been assuming it's a militairy thing, possibly Russian...? I'm afraid to hazard a guess, as I'm not exactaly an expert on matters of warfare and internatioal policies (What's the Treaty of Versailles, again?)...
Anyway, there you have it, my one and a half cents.

I often wondered about the whole WASP thing too. I heard other refernces to WASP in other places too, but have no idea what it is. I think it has something to do with like "good breeding", as in blue eyed and blonde sort of thing.

WASP means White Anglo Saxon Purists I think. It was covered in my history class some many years ago as a movement that was part of Hitler's master race of blond haired, blue eyed people who were genetically perfect in Hitler's eyes. It was one of Hitlers forms of raceism that was carried out in America back in the 1950's and 60's. That is about all I can remember from history and web searches only find the buggy type wasps and the planes named after them that the American government uses. Hope it helps.

That's pretty much it, though I think it's White Anglo Saxon Protestant. Or at least it was. I think the term came before Hitler too, but I'm no entirely sure about that. It's been a while. Anyway, it has pretty much the same meaning. It was used a lot in reference to the socially "elite" in the states once upon a time. They were mostly from European descent, though I don't think they all fit the blonde hair blue eyed profile. That probably came in later or something. When I see it used these days (very rarely, since I'm pretty sure it's considered rude) it's used to describe a "rich white boy/girl". For Edward, it's a statement about his physical appearence (and partly the Ted "act" I think too). Blonde hair, blue eyed, clean cut, all American white boy.

Thankyou both. xd Definetly makes some sense out of it all now. lol So... when Anita comments on Edwards "WASP breeding" it's an insult bordering on compliment. lol

My english teacher would probably make a comment about how WASP males are the powerhouses of America, and just about always have been. It's been a long week of discussion of racism and white supremicist groups... sweatdrop .... still in love with Death tho 3nodding
