After awhile of playing Super Smash Brothers Melee, I decided I would like to start over. I went into the Gamecube console and into the memory section and deleted it. Back into the game, I created the file and get to the "press start" screen, pressed start, and then a message said I unlocked Mushroom Kingdom 2.
I thought Mushroom Kingdom 2 could only be unlocked by obtaining the Birdo trophy? Was it a glitch?

...... mabe its like the captin olimar trophie do you have a mario game saved on there or something...

I dont have any saved data on there. (except the SSBM data.) But like I said, I pressed start and the message said it was unlocked and in the level selection, sure enough, there it was.

When you delete your save file, it leaves behind remnants of things you unlocked. I don't think there are any exceptions to things that can be instantly unlocked, except maybe characters.
