The numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42 are latitude and logitude coordinates. By making the numbers that they are suppose to push be the location of the island, it makes it easier to remember. Here is a map to the location of the island: LocationThe location of the island is - 4.815 latitude and 162.342 longitude. It is in the exact ocean and in the same area that the Flight 815 would have taken

I know the plane was off course for a few hours, but I don't think it would be so of course that it would land not too far from where it took off X_x

The pilot was actually just doing laps around Australia. xd
Anyway, I wonder if that's accurate to where the writers think.

Alvar Hanso I know the plane was off course for a few hours, but I don't think it would be so of course that it would land not too far from where it took off X_x The plane was a 1000 miles off course. The location is 3000+ miles from Sydney. It makes sense biggrin Here is a map of the location with google: google

Seems reasonable. Plus the pieces of the aircraft would have glided for a bit and not just dropped like a stone. Especially the middle section as it has the wings. It also would have no direction to where it is going. It is logical to assume it would drift

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the producers and writers have stated that the numbers are not coordinates.

Awkwardo Sorry to burst your bubble, but the producers and writers have stated that the numbers are not coordinates. Yeah, I forget where they said that, but I remember someone did. Apparently you would automatically suspect that transmission with the numbers, and the numbers on the hatch would be connected. Of course all of us with brains knew that, hopefully. So..what is that connection. Excuse me if it has already been found, but I haven't been watching LOST lately, too busy.

I remember in one episode Danielle said they were 3 days from some islands near Australia. She gave a specific name, but I've forgotten it. Also, the plane apparently exploded right above the island, so there goes the gliding a bit thing.
