Ahlidel Cat had been trying for the better part of his life to win over the affection of a certain wily, elegant Lady of Underland, their clever Chief Game Maker. For as long as he could remember he had tagged along with the Cheshire cousins, playing their games and attending their adventures and putting in an appearance at every Tea Party. He loved them all dearly, as friends and family, but how he felt for Meru was different. Had maybe always been different, been stronger.
So it was time to do something about it, wasn't it? Past time even, one might say, even if their watch was full of jam. Chai and Oolong had give him plenty of looks while consulting their watches, and he couldn't very well continue pretending he didn't know what they meant. The rabbits had never been particularly subtle.
Very well then. He would take action, which admittedly was not his strong suit, and do something about it before one of his well-meaning friends beat him to the punch. But this wasn't a 'walk up with no plan' sort of situation.
Or, it was, because he had no plan... But he DID have gifts!
With a freshly selected bouquet, carefully wrapped in a sheet of themed floral paper that had been covered with stamps in the various suit designs. He also had finally finished his most carefully crafted plushie yet, a perfectly snuggle-able plush cat version of Meru herself. Admittedly the antlers were in the nub stage of Meru's own in spring with a single carefully stitched flower attached to each of them, but he rather hoped she would be endeared by the rendition of her, which had been likewise wrapped and stashed in a striped hatbox he had settled into the basket alongside the flowers for the ease of carrying.
Though it perhaps wasn't the wisest of plans, Ahli had sort of been planning to sneak in and settles the gifts in a pleasing arrangement before he dared to face Meru head on. Of course, her catching him mid tiptoe into the grove meant he froze in place and gave her a wide-eyed, slightly guilty look. Oh. Well. Busted.
Gingerly clearing his throat, Ahli stepped closer to her and settled the basket at her paws, freeing himself up to explain. "No need for assistance, they've reached their destination though I was rather hoping they'd be a surprise."
He shuffled a multicolored hoof, giving a bashful bob of his head before he craned his head down and resettled the basket just a little closer to her. "Surprise, Darkberry."
