Aadhira picked her way down the mountain path, making note of anything that might become an issue once the trail was buried in snow. A fallen tree may be easily seen and avoided now but once winter came it could be a hidden hazard. Luckily she didn't spy any such issue on the way to the hidden meadow she'd discovered the other day. Wildflowers grew everywhere, and she wished to gather a few as best she could. Maybe Delicious- wait, no Delcius? What was his name? Her eyes glazed over as she became lost in dreamland. Her mate was a feast on the eyes. Of course he'd love whatever gift she found for him. Silly of her to fret.

Turning a bend, the meadow suddenly spread itself before her. Mostly full of sunflowers and daisies, there were a few random splashes of color of flowers normally not seen around here. She suspected this must have been someone's garden at one point before something in their life made them leave it behind. Making a beeline for the sunflowers, she sought out the ones that were the brightest yellow and as tall as could be. Yellow sunflowers; yellow to mean happiness and optimism, and the sunflower to show adoration, loyalty, and joy. Taken together, this flower SHOULD show him that I happily adore our time together. She thought, carefully biting the stems of a few at their base and placing them in a pile to the side. Now, which flower should she go for next..?

Eyes alighting on the daisies scattered around, Aadhira made her way to them and grabbed a mouthful. She had to be careful where she walked due to how densely the grass and flowers were growing in the meadow. It would be too easy to step on a hidden rock and twist an ankle. Once back at the sunflowers she had already gathered, she carefully set them down and noted the batch she grabbed were all white ones. White daisies... what do those mean again? Oh yeah, new beginnings. New beginnings... her mind began to drift, as she remembered how the two first met. She had stumbled across him in the middle of a rather nasty snowstorm and almost mistook him for dead. Oh gawd, the panic I had was so embarrassing in hindsight. Ah well, at least I was able to rouse him and bring him somewhere sheltered and warm. It wasn't long after that first encounter that the two began to become friends and then something more. The more time passed, the more she wanted to be near him and soon she realized she was head-over-hoof in love with him. A breeze picked up, bringing fresh scents to her and snapping her mind back into the present. Hmm... I think I can get a few more before the sun sets.

The warmth of the sun's rays was starting to fade as Aadhira resumed her search of the meadow for one final flower to grab for the bouquet. A splash of vibrant red caught her eye against a partly eroded hillside, where a tree had fallen a year or so ago. Maybe one of the snowstorms brought it down. She mused, making her way over to investigate the bright flash of color. There, nestled amongst the roots and almost taking over, was a rose bush that had gone entirely feral without anyone to prune it back. Such a pretty red too. And the flower lives up to its meaning, passionately taking hold of life. Now the real challenge began; while the sunflowers were rather fuzzy in the mouth and had a strange taste to them, they didn't really hurt. Lacking the talons to pry the flowers free from their thorny embrace, she had to find another means to collect the beautiful flowers. Oh! The tree could maybe be useful. I bet I could lay a branch across some of the stems and hope that this type of rose isn't as thorny as some of their kin. Thought led to deed, and soon enough she had found a sturdy enough branch to lay on the rose bush. A few scratches were a small price to pay; it wasn't long after her task began that she was able to collect a dainty stack of roses, minus the thorns (which she had carefully nipped off and spat out). Moving these to the side, she removed the branch and let the bush spring back into shape. Retrieving the roses she'd worked hard for, she returned to the stack of sunflowers and daisies and gathered them all up for the return trip home. Red roses are a fitting final flower... they're often given as a gift of love.
