Jessenia hummed softly to herself as she slowly walked through the meadow. She enjoyed these quiet mornings, walking and basking in the light of early morning sun. Sometimes, depending on how cool the night was, there would be dew on the ground, glistening. She breathed in the fresh air, pausing here and there to bend her head to smell the meadow flowers.

Although Jessenia liked to spend time with others, she also loved these quiet moments, a time to relax and collect her thoughts. The cerynei mare had been spending time recently with a stallion who lived in the woods. Lots of time actually. She liked him a lot, so much so that she told him about the Flower Oracles. Vale had been so intrigued by what she told him that he wanted to go with her. To receive a bouquet and from there, decipher their fortune. It was exciting yet frightening all at one.

She was a bundle of nerves, which is why she seeked the comfort of a familiar place before her and Vale set off. However, it was time to collect Vale. He could not see so well due to a mutation he had that afflicted his eyes. Jessenia loved flowers and so it was fitting, she supposed, to connect so well with a stallion that had flowers that appeared to grow from his eyes. It also helped they were both cerynei, with a deep affection for the land. She and her flowers, he and his love for soil and insects. Each of his family were devoted to the land in some way, each with their different talents. Jessenia did not come from a close and devoted family, but she had often longed for one.

Vale nosed along the ground, inhaling the smell of the soil. His cactus cat was often close by but not today as he could not hear her rustling about, playing with whatever object caught her fancy. He was an early riser, always was - he liked keeping busy though Vale could recall a time when he lazed about, sunbathing. His older siblings and moms taught him well - diligence, discipline, and stewardship.

His family were caretakers of the land, all with different talents. He with an affection of the soil and insects, his sister Brinley excelled at growing and collecting herbs, used to create remedies for different ailments; his mother Nevena cared deeply for the woods and his mother Hollie loved its inhabitants from the largest of creatures to the littlest ones.

For the longest time he had been the youngest but recently his moms had encountered Elowen, a flutter-cerynei mare, not unlike he and his twin Girasol. Elowen was young and still discovering her place within the family herd. It was odd now being the older sibling, bestowing knowledge. His siblings were all better than he was at such a daunting task. But, his other siblings were busier now, particularly as some were mated or in relationships.

"I might be as well." Vale mused.

It was true, for he recently had been spending his time with a cerynei mare named Jessenia. She was a pretty mare, despite not being able to see her clearly enough, he could sense it. She had a soothing voice, and when she sang to herself while caring for the meadow flowers, he felt at peace. She was kind and soft-spoken. He liked to talk much to his insect friends, it had taken him a bit of time to talk more with her but she never seemed to mind. She was a quieter mare and there were ample times where the pair walked in silence. It was never an uncomfortable silence, on the contrary it often felt tranquil. He liked Jessenia and enjoyed her company immensely.

Although he didn't fully grasp the beauty of flowers, he knew they meant a lot to her. So much so that some of their conversations focused on the secret meaning of flowers. A few mornings ago Jessenia had told him about a place in the meadow where they could receive a bouquet of flowers from those known as the Flower Oracles. It intrigued him, even though flowers were not his area of expertise. Jessenia had sounded so excited when she told him about this, he knew she had been excited due to the raise in her voice. Vale told her that they should go and so today was the day. He wondered what was keeping Jessenia...

"Vale!" Jessenia called to the flutter-cerynei. She watched as he raised his head, flowered eyes squinting. He grinned wide. She trotted to his side and gently nosed at him. "Jessenia, you came." He sounded so awed. She flushed.

"Of course I would come, Vale. We're going to the Flower Oracles for our bouquet." Jessenia replied, her words coming fast. She bounced lightly on her heels, eager to get moving. Vale seemed to notice her impatience for he stated, "well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Jessenia smiled and began to walk towards the part in the meadow to collect their bouquet. She paused her and there to ensure that there was nothing in their path for Vale to get hurt. They brushed against each other at times, not speaking much.

They walked for awhile before they reached the Flower Oracles. It was beautiful here, so many flowers all around. Jessenia had been here before, numerous times actually, to receive a single flower or a bundle of flowers. She knew others may not believe in the message of flowers but she did. She described the sights to Vale, who she knew could not fully see what she was seeing. It saddened her at times but Vale never seemed sad by his limitations. "So many smells." She startled at his words. "I am sorry if it is overwhelming to you Vale. I appreciate you coming here with me." She really did as she always came here alone.

"Where shall we go for the flowers?' He inquired, his head turning this way and that.

"Oh! Over here, mind your step here." They walked until they reached a stump where a simple bouquet rested. Jessenia's green eyes looked over the assortment - 3 different types of flowers. Camellias, white lilies, and violets. One of the oracles stood by, looking them over.

Jessenia admired the beautiful arrangement, she wondered what it meant.

"Welcome travellers." The mare paused. "You have been given a bouquet of camellias, white lilies, and violets. Each has a story behind it, which I will share with you if I may?"

"Yes, we would like to know more." Jessenia replied. "Oh! But only if that is all right with you, Vale?"

The stallion chuckled at her eagerness. "No need to ask. Please go ahead." He urged the mare.

"The camellia represents admiration and perfection, the white lily for purity, devotion, and virtue. Finally the violet stands for modesty and humility. Together they are for deep devotion, purity, and faithful love. The relationship you have is meant to blossom into deep admiration for each other. This bouquet which was carefully chosen for you indicates that your love will stand the test of time despite obstacles you may face, you will continue to stay devoted to one another." The mare stated. "I must take my leave from you now, best wishes." She nodded her head at the couple and took her leave.

"Wow." Vale paused, "direct and to the point, huh?"

"Jessenia....?" She hadn't spoken yet. Vale waited with bated breath. His heart beat rapidly, as if it was about to spring from his chest.

He heard a few sniffles. His head turned to her, in worry. Jessenia felt tears flowing from her eyes, touched by the fortune that was bestowed upon them. "Vale, oh Vale," her voice trembled. "How happy this makes me." She was smiling yet crying, overwhelmed.

Jessenia was happy. Vale felt relief. He was worried and yet didn't need to worry at all. They were good. "Guess we'll be together forever." He chuckled sheepishly.

"I couldn't imagine wanting anything less." She laughed.

The End....
