Tonatiuh Adriata -a bright colored stallion that was formerly a Knight of the herd known as Sunwater- was both far from his home and his original calling. Though, it could be said, there were worse things that could happen. Truthfully, he rather doubted he could be any happier for it than he already was, though perhaps those from his former life would have a hard time believing it. Still, as strange as it may sound, the Market was a bustling, entertaining, irresistible little hub of action and intrigue and what he was coming to understand was 'everyday life'. Tona was pleased to be a part of it, even as a temporary installment.
Watching over the combined efforts of several very beautiful, more than a little intimidating ladies was no small feat. After making careful notes on the meanings of the individual flowers and colors, some basic bouquet structures, and keenly absorbing the advice on what the meanings might be when combined, he was a ready as he could hope to be. So he stationed himself at the flower stall, glanced over the selection of blooms, and braced himself for whatever the day would bring him.
Now to just hope no one scary showed up for flower predictions or, well... He was having a bit of a hard time imagining a floral emergency, but surely those existed, right? Whatever they might be like, he didn't want any part of one.
"Only good flower fortunes, please." He mumbles softly to himself, flicking his tail and pitching his ears forward hopefully. "Only good."

Thandiel had decided to come all the way to the market, to stretch her hooves. She knew her alphas would understand and she imagined her twin was busy with a certain stallion who she was clearly smitten with. It caused a smile to come to her lips, even if said stallion tended to be a bit rough around the edges. So she knew that she could go for a little exploration, no one would have any problems with it.
As she was wandering around, she happened to hear some mumbling. From under her transparent veil, a curious look came her. Well, she wanted to see what was going on, so she followed the sound, soon coming upon a flower stall, with all kinds of beautiful flowers. She bent closer to the flowers, taking a whiff, they all smelled amazing. However, she did eventually look up to the one manning it, he looked a bit anxious. Well, that would certainly not do, she needed to see what she could do to help. Plus, a bouquet of flowers would be something she wouldn't mind getting.
"Hello, is everything alright? These flowers are quite lovely, if I do say so myself. The herd I am a member of, flowers are one of the things that hold a special place for the alphas and their families. Well, along with stars,"she explained. She wondered if he was helping someone else who was not here, it did make sense in her mind. At least, it would make sense why they seemed so unsure, but maybe it was just his first time selling flowers, he might be used to growing them. However, if he wanted to share what was bothering him, she would be glad to listen. (WC: 291)

Until something comes along to distract him, the young Knight resolves to stay busy with work. Different blooms were arranged by color and sometimes the length of stem, some gathered in vases of varying heights and others arranged in a bunch, often with a longer stem, sprawled in flat baskets. Noting some had fallen out of their arrangement, Tona dips his head to gently nudge some flowers back into order, making a soft sound of enjoyment at the touch of soft petals.
The sound of a stranger's voice has his head rising, a polite smile rising on his face. "Good day Miss, and thank you for your kind words. I'll be sure to pass them on to the florists whose hard work you see before you. I am afraid I'm just a friend that is filling in to the best of his ability."
He steps around the side of the booth, giving her room to browse the flowers while remaining close enough to be of assistance. "I've quite a few friends that hold the stars in high regard. And while flowers are somewhat new to me, I have enjoyed learning their meanings and the interesting language that they can represent. Can I help you with a bouquet or arrangement request? It is hard to resist a beautiful gift that is also a lovely message."

Thandiel was happy that she had not startled him, having been a little worried that he might be so deep in what he was doing, that he might not have heard her come over. She observed him, just to make sure he didn't jump or seem perturbed by her appearance, but it seemed everything seemed alright. She knew sometimes she could be very quiet, it was just how she and her twin sister were sometimes. So hearing her just speaking up, well it could sometimes catch people off guard. This stallion was not one of those she wanted to surprise, so she was glad when he gave her the smile.
"Ah, I had been debating if the flowers were ones you grew yourself or if you were manning them for another. That is very kind of you to be helping friends of your's, especially if they could not be here themselves. They are quite beautiful, so they definitely should be here to brighten the days of all those who happen past. I know they have for me. Also, if this stall is anything to go by, you are doing quite well covering for them. I do appreciate your passing my compliments on to them,"she responded brightly. She had wondered if she could make any new friends today, maybe she had. She looked over the flowers, as she took each of them in. She flushed a bit when she heard what he had said.
"I have to admit, I do not know much about the meanings behind the different flowers. If you wouldn't mind helping me to make a nice bouquet, I would appreciate it. Surprise me with the meaning, maybe chosen at random, see what the fates want me to know,"she grinned. Who knew, after all, life was full of surprises, she thought to herself. Tonatiuh made a thoughtful sound and swiveled his ears, inclining his head slightly as he conceded the matter. "Truth be told, there are a few very skilled ladies with absolutely incredible gardens under their care. I am dazzled by them. When they choose to sell or trade flowers here at the Faire, it's quite a compliment I think, and a unique opportunity to take home some of their stunning blooms. That being said, I am deeply flattered to be trusted with their hard work while they attend to other matters.
And he would do his best to do right by them, which was why he had studied their lessons about flower meanings and languages so fiercely. Of course, then he was complimented on his own hard work and he can't help but duck his head bashfully.
"Oh, thank you." He rumbled, shifting lightly on his hooves in a way that implied a bit of a nervous shuffle. "As for the meanings, I'm happy to share... but I think a bit of it is supposed to be a mystery, if you're seeking a flower fortune? So perhaps we could approach it like this, do any of them stand out to you? Because if you pick a few, I can tell you what they mean? Or if you want to ask a question I guess I'll do my best to sort of, zone out and pick what feels correct? Or relevant? It is a bit of an art more than a science."

Thandiel could not blame him for being amazed by his gardening friends, she did the same for the members of the herd who had a green hoof, so to speak. She was more of a warrior, so she always marveled at those who could make flowers and other plants bloom. She hoped she could meet his friends someday, she was sure their gardens would be quite a treat to behold, if the flowers that were here were anything to go by. She continued to sniff those closest to her, the smells were just amazing.
"I can't say I am surprised that they have incredible gardens, maybe one day I will get to see them myself. For now, I am quite content taking some of these lovelies home, I am sure the herd will be over the moon to see them. They must really trust you, if they are allowing you to act as caretaker to their blooms, while they are busy,"she responded to him. As he spoke about the flower fortune, she looked thoughtful, she figured that was a reasonable way to handle it. She could certainly pick ones that called out to her, maybe randomly picking some by pointing to ones with her eyes closed.
"I think I am going to let the pull channel through what pulls my hoof to it, while I close my eyes. With all the lovely flowers, I don't know if I would be able to pick any other way. So I give you enough to work with, I think I will point to five of them,"she responded to him. She closed her eyes, then pointed at each of the five in turn, before opening her eyes, to see what he set aside of what she had pointed to. (WC: 297, Overall for me: 905)

Hearing the compliment to his friends' hard work and taking it to heart, Tona gives the elegant mare before him an appreciative nod and a perhaps somewhat sparkly eyed look. He can't help it, he really does adore his friends.
"I see no reason why that wouldn't be the case, they do on occasion host events and gatherings so others can visit. Usually at the height of bloom, but one or two offer a different sort of event during harvest so that the fruit trees and shrubs can be taken advantage of." It was a tasty spectacle, rather than a floral one, but in no way less lovely.
"As far as plans in the mean time go, that seems perfectly lovely and logical to me." He retorts with a happy flick of his tail. "Ah, thank you, the trust they place in me is a high honor. I will endeavor to be worthy of it, and that of their patrons."
He lays back on the conversation for the moment, letting her consider her options, and nodding in agreement and understanding once she selects the method she'll be following. He can't say if one is better than any of the others, but so far all have seemed effective in orchestrating fortunes, so he supposes that is all that really matters.
Looking over her selection, Tona makes a thoughtful sound.
"This selection is a rather varied one, which I think speaks to a wide-ranging heart or perhaps reflects the values of those around you. It might depend on whether or not the herd and their enjoyment was on your mind, or if you were simply trying to select what spoke directly to you. These somewhat small purple blooms are violet, which speaks to modesty in an individual but may also indicate a small herd with humble ambitions. The cheerful yellows here are daffodils and speak to renewal and fresh starts, which could apply to family bonds or the direction the herd is taking after choices made or changes occurred. White lilies are devotion, virtue, purity such as on the matter of intentions, and speak once again to one's heart. The red hyacinth here is sincerity and steadfastness, whereas the pink camellia is admiration or representative of perfection. These can easily speak to a romantic nature, or to good hearts and strong bonds around you."
The stallion makes a thoughtful sound as he gathers the blooms and organizes the bouquet, gently wrapping it in a section of silken ribbon that is white to match Thandiel's adornments. He makes a satisfied rumbling noise in his chest as he nudges it to the open center of the tabletop. "All this to say, this bouquet could speak to the start or renewal of a relationship or feelings, perhaps after choices have been made that laid evidence to once's sincerity. It seems like there is very little call for individual change or growth, the admiration is already present. All that would really be left would be to grow together."

Thandiel had not missed the twinkle in the stallion's eyes as he gave his nod of appreciation. She could only imagine there was a lot of love from him to his friends. She knew that feeling all too well, being quite fortunate to have her twin she was close to and adored and the members of the herd they belonged to. She knew if any of them had set her to such a task as this stallion was doing, she would be worried of screwing something up, but honored as well, that they felt her worthy enough to do such a task. It might be a thought to see if they could set up something here too, something to bring up to them at some point, she mused to herself.
"Ah, those all sound lovely, both the ones at the height of bloom, when all the flowers would probably be at their absolute best. Also the idea of ones during harvest, probably can get to taste the wonderful fruits and things that they grow. I must keep an ear open for these events you are talking about, maybe have the herd keeping their ears open too. And thank you, I certainly could not pass up the chance to get some of these lovely blooms. Also, I may have just met you, but I believe you will do them proud,"she smiled softly. It was true, she really did want to see those events he spoke of, but she also felt he would do well with taking care of the blooms here.
Once she was done picking her flowers, she listened to him speak about how varied it was, she had a feeling it was both. The flowers must detect how much her heart seemed to cover a lot of ground in what it liked, plus she was sure the rest of the herd rubbed off on her with her decisions. Yes, her focus had been on trying to follow her heart, but of course the herd was part of her heart. She looked over the violets, not knowing if others would consider her humble, but she did belong to a herd with humble ambitions. They wanted to make Soquili that came to them were welcome and cared for, unless evil and meaning harm. She thought how the daffodils worked into things, maybe there was a change coming her way that would count as a renewal of sorts, maybe. Lilies definitely could be about her doing her best to listen to her heart, her intentions good. The hyacinth and camellia were then explained, was love coming her way? Of course, could just be strong bonds.
"It seems the flowers had a mix to say, but the start of a relationship, I would definitely be open to it. My twin sister has been fortunate to find someone she loves with all of her heart, I wouldn't mind finding the same. It is okay it doesn't speak of growth, maybe that will come on its own in time. It gives me a bit to think on. How, I forgot, speaking of bonds, I never introduced myself. Here I was thinking of making new friends and I stood her talking to you, without a name given. My name is Thandiel,"she greeted, with a light bow. She gently moved the bouquet gently to herself, before handing him some coins for it. (WC: 567, Overall for me: 1,472)

Alight with joy at the understanding of how glorious his friends were, Tona practically prances in place, shifting lightly on his hooves to where he produces gleeful tapping sounds by the steps on the densely packed earth. "I cannot recommend them highly enough... both in the category of a sensory feast and a delightful experience. Whether it is limited to one's eyes and nose or also includes your sense of taste merely matters on timing. Though I suppose honeysuckle and ginger and the flowering herbs might make up for the lack of fruit in the opposing season... I've never been disappointed by a visit to their gardens, in any case."
Her assertion that he does well in his service of aiding his friends is met with a quiet sort of bashfulness... the brightly colored stallion bowing his head modestly and making a soft sound of gratitude. It's easier to focus on arranging and wrapping the flower selection pleasingly than it is to take what seems to be a genuine compliment, which has apparently made him bashful.
"Everything is subjective and open to interpretation, and can be influenced by who you were focused on or thinking of, to say the least. Change and growth is harder to predict on a large group, because it's dependent on many individuals proceeding in a similar direction... More often than not, they all grow on their own, perhaps by leaps and bounds, while the herd remains stable or grows slowly once it has had time to reflect on the changes within."
Tona flashes her another one of his bright smiles at her introduction, giving her a gentlemanly bow. "Well then, it is a pleasure to meet you, Lady Thandiel, I am Tonatiuh Adriata but my friends call me Tona, and you are welcome to do the same now that we have been introduced. Though your fortune has been told for this bouquet, I do hope we'll have the chance to speak again in the future."

Thandiel that it was cute the way he was so full of joy, that his prancing where he stood made a lovely tapping sound. The more he spoke of his recommendations of seeing his friends, the more she felt determined to make sure she did at least once. If she could go more than once, she felt that was all the better. She could just imagine what a wonderful time she would have, the feast for the senses sounded like such an amazing thing to experience. Just seeing the selection of just a taste of their products here before her, she pictured in her mind the bright colors and the smells that would greet her in their garden. Not to mention, what their produce would taste like, it was already making her mouth water.
"From the sounds of it, you visit quite often, which would be expected with them being your friends. Well, I can safely say you sold me on going at least once, but I am definitely leaning on more than once myself. I would suggest for you that you should come visit the herd I am part of one day, the flower meadow our alphas met at, is so beautiful,"she recommended in turn. She saw how bashful he got with compliments for himself. So it seems he was full of them for his friends, but for himself. he was a little more shy about it.
"Truth be told, the herd was a bit in my mind, but I tried to make sure it was mostly on things that would apply to me. The thoughts of what they have, may have colored a bit of things for myself. The flowers may have had a range of things to point out, maybe because of the things I want or maybe needed to hear. I will say the violets did speak probably more to the herd, with their humble ambitions of helping others. Though, it speaks to me too, since it is something I want as well, to protect and to find ways to make sure everyone has what they need. Maybe someone I know I start having feelings for or someone new comes along. Maybe the sincerity comes from this other Soquili or something. Or maybe it is a combination of an old connection speaking up and a new one. Of course, it could also be referring to making a new friend too, like I am doing right now,"she mused. The meaning of the flowers gave her a lot to chew on. She would have to think about it and see what comes from what it all means together.
"It is nice to meet you too, Tona, and thank you for allowing me to call you by a name your friends call you. As for speaking again in the future, I would very much like that myself. While the fortune is indeed told, I would like to definitely run into one another again later on down the line. For now, I should probably get out of your mane,"she smiled softly. A mixture of pleased and relieved that the conversation isn't over yet, Tona makes a considering noise in response to her statement. "Not as often as I would like, if I am honest? But I do make something of a routine of it, traveling to their various territories to see what is blooming or new or what have you... A couple of times of year isn't all that much, if I was restricted to visiting them only at home? But they also attend different festivals and faires, so I get to se them out in the world also. All in all it's a delicate balance, but I feel it keeps me active and my days lively with variety. Perhaps the next time you and I meet, I will have fresh recommendations for you, should you wish to go on adventuring of your own?"
He didn't quite give her a calf-eyed 'let me bring you an adventure plan like a gift' look, but it wasn't far off. If any of his usual crowd of friends were around, they would have laughed about how excited he was at the thought. But, well, who could blame him? If Tona saw pretty things, he wanted to share them with kind people, that was just the sort of individual he was.
"I am always looking for fresh adventures myself, so it would be my honor to visit your herd and see the meadow for myself." He gives her a smile and an emphatic nod and takes some fluttering steps in place to channel his excitement. "I will be sure to find you an interesting hostess gift, in case you have not had a chance to visit again before then."
He settles, ears swiveling forward with quiet attention as he listens to her explain her train of thoughts as she picked flowers. The selection was a mix of head and heart fueled choices, in his estimation, which seemed perfectly logical. The balance seemed to suit her, in some strange way, though he certainly did not know her well enough to know that... It just felt true.
"I hope that the meanings unfold before you in short order, and that you enjoy the journey." Tona offered his own little blessing as she prepared to leave, noting another shopper waiting in the wings. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Lady Thandiel, and I hope to see you again soon. Until then, be well."
He gives a pleasant nod, then turns to face the next stranger. "Flower fortunes, told here!"
