The Fortune BouquetInspired by Victorian floriography, the secret language of flowers, every bloom carries a meaning and a glimpse into destiny. Visitors may either draw a random bouquet from the Flower Oracles or create their own arrangement to reveal a unique fortune for themselves or someone else. A single flower offers a clear, focused message, while a bouquet weaves together multiple traits, blessings, warnings, and possibilities into a richer story. Flower colors add another layer of meaning, turning each arrangement into a personalized prophecy. Common Flower Meanings Rose - Love, passion, beauty Lily - Purity, devotion, virtue Daisy - Innocence, new beginnings Tulip - Perfect love, elegance Sunflower - Loyalty, adoration, joy Orchid - Strength, rare beauty Carnation - Fascination and affection Iris - Wisdom, faith, hope Peony - Prosperity and good fortune Daffodil - Renewal and fresh starts Hyacinth - Sincerity and steadfastness Lilac - First love and youthful dreams Marigold - Creativity, warmth, celebration Poppy - Rest, remembrance, consolation Chrysanthemum - Friendship and honesty Jasmine - Grace, charm, sensuality Violet - Modesty and humility Forget-Me-Not - True love and lasting memories Camellia - Admiration and perfection Lavender - Peace and serenity

Acanthia had heard the tale of a flower stand with oracles that told your fortune based on the types of flowers. This intrigued her and piqued her interest. The concept didn't seem silly to her. It is really no different than the skill of reading bones or entrails. She had witnessed witches who used that art. Flower reading at least would be less gory.
Having told her mate of the idea of visiting, for research, she invited him to go. Even though she would go on her own if he didn't want to, she always appreciated his company. Daka complimented her in ways further than words could explain. "Please accompany me to this stand of floral readings, my dear. If that is something you'd wish to do? You can tell me what you were up to this morning. I always want to know what you are up to," she purred as she nudged him. "What mushrooms are you growing during the rainy season? I know this is a great time of year for them to grow! Any delicious poisonous ones?" She grinned at the idea. All the mushrooms were good, but one could have the most fun with the poisonous ones.
If he didn't want to go, she would tell him about her trip when she returned.

Dakarai had been busy collecting poppy heads for Acanthia, he had been surprised at first, at how well they worked together, she was on the darker side but that wasn't surprising given she was a shifter, what was, is that she liked him, not just for his mushroom garden but for him. He'd quickly grown comfortable with her presence in either of her forms, in fact, he sometimes preferred her feline form, it was nice to cuddle and hold her under his wings.
He listened to her, head tilted, floral readings seemed rather interesting, not as much as his mushrooms of course but he had learned, from her, that even regular looking flowers and plants could be as potent as his mushrooms. He waited until she had finished all her questions before answering, with a smile. "I would be happy to accompany you, flowers aren't mushrooms but you've taught me there is more to them than i once thought" He thought a moment before unfurling his wing "i was collecting these for you" he answered her 'what he had been doing' question, and dropped the poppy heads at her feet. He chucked as she nudged him with a purr, a true purr versus his imitation chuff. "Im letting them grow as they want this time, i want to see what happens, which ones take over, which ones struggle to thrive, select the stronger strains to let grow later maybe" he said, bumping her forehead with his own, careful that his horns didn't harm her.

Acanthia grins at her mate and the bright red poppy heads. She would absolutely use those later to make a sleeping concoction. One that could help someone sleep with a few drops, or put them in a coma with a few too many drops. Involutary napping is one of her favorite things to inflict on those who might hurt her mate or her family. Even though threats had been in short supply, Acanthia is always at the ready with her tinctures and poisons.
She purred at him and gave him a nuzzle, eyes blinking a few times slowly. A way for her to show she accepted him and is relaxed around him. Hard for others to read her being a big, scary shifter cat. Dakarai is never afraid of her and can read her most of the time. It's part of why she liked having him with her.
"Then let us go see these oracles. If it's boring, we can always go do something else," she grinned at him with a flick of her tail, leaving the something else up to his interpretation.
As they get to the oracles, everything is incredibly floral. The smell of flowers is abundant and a bit overpowering with them all together. Acanthia preferred the smell of the forest, with its earthly bouquet. She's more the type to stop and smell a mushroom or a rotting branch.
Four oracles stand at the ready with arrangements of flowers displayed. One can either pick pre-arranged bundles, or there are a few single stems for those who prefer to build their own. One mare immediately caught Acanthia's attention. A gothic black and red mare stood with her back to her stand, seemingly uninterested in those around her. Acanthia recognized what the oracle was doing. Clearly, she only wants those who won't waste her time to approach.
"Dakarai, I think this oracle is calling to me with her disinterest. Let's go make her busy."
The oracle turned as she was approached, as if she could hear them or sense their interest. The rose mare looked on at the couple before her and grinned. Oh, these two looked like a fun pair. Even though before her, she has her flowers arranged in an almost rainbow spread, she also likes the darker side of things. One could love the dark and the colorful, and that is absolutely her.
"Please, would you allow me to pick you a bundle, if I may?"
((Double Lavender - Peace and serenity Iris - Wisdom, faith, hope Tulip - Perfect love, elegance Peony - Prosperity and good fortune))
She picks a bundle with these four flowers. "Do you accept these flowers? I will read your fortune if so."

His chest puffed a little at the grin his mate gave when she saw the poppies, he knew instantly he had made the right choice in selecting those particular flowers for her. He didn't always anticipate her wants, not being into much more than Mushrooms before he met her but she showed him a wider world of plants. Still he preferred his fungus, he was particularly curious about one he had heard of that took over the minds of insects but he had yet to discover it himself.
Dakarai's eyes gleamed at her when she suggested 'something else' if this so called 'oracle of flowers' was boring and let out a chuckle. He wasn't stupid, he knew what she had meant and he winked at her "Maybe even if it's not, something else ... after?" he laughed.
When they got close his nose wrinkled, the scent of flowers was cloying and it made his nostrils itch, normal flowers weren't this strong but when he saw the area, there was so many all in one place, he made a face and stuck out his tongue "blech" he muttered, "Can i go back to the rotting trees and my mushrooms yet?" he said under his breath but said no more as the oracle spoke, he had his preferences but he didn't want to be rude, meeting Acanthia showed him others interests could be something to take note of so he looked to his shifter mate to see what to do next, they were here, the oracle spoke, "Uh... i guess so?" he answered the dark mare, looking at Acanthia for more, he would let her take the lead, she knew more than him about this stuff.

Acanthia nods. "Please, continue."
The oracle smiled. "Then allow me to give you your fortune. The lavender speaks the loudest of a peace between both of you. Where others might find chaos, you find a strong peace in each other. The pink iris tells of wisdom and good fortune. Wisdom isn't always something with age. With the two of you, there is wisdom in trusting one another when the path is uncertain. It will bring you good fortune. The yellow tulip tells of happiness found in a perfect love. While each of you might not be perfect, neither asks the other to change. Continue to deepen your love by believing in the other. Last, the soft white peony brings out prosperity and sincerity. Tend to each other as you would your garden, and your relationship will thrive and continue to grow," she finished with a twinkle in her eye.
Acanthia listened quietly as the oracle explained each flower, her ears flicking forward and back with interest. Peace. Wisdom. Prosperity. Perfect love.
She looked over the bouquet again with a soft hum.
"They're beautiful, and your derived message is... sweet," she admitted. "Though I cannot help but think of what else they can do."
Her nose hovered over the abundance of lavender. The scent not unpleasant, but an antique scent that wasn't her favorite. "A calming flower in teas. Can help rest the troubled spirits of one's mind." She grinned faintly. "Though too much can cause an upset tummy, if one is quick to ingest too much."
"Iris is one you should not make a tea with, unless you favor a violent purging," she says with a grin that pulls up both sides of her mouth. "Dakarai, you could use it to deter things that might harm your mushrooms and try to nibble them."
The tulip earned a soft chuff. "Tulip bulbs are poisonous. Enough will make one dreadfully ill if ingested," she says with a wicked grin as she cocks her head at the oracle. "Have you or your sisters got a rash from handling the bulbs?" she says with a glint in her eyes. "Flowers can often defend themselves, even though they are delicate and fragile."
Finally, the snowy, fat peony. Acanthia licked the flower, daringly, while eyeing the oracle. Intentionally trying to make her uncomfortable as she told her un-fortune. "Only mildly toxic, and mostly the root and the stems."
"An intriguing bundle of flowers with a sweet fortune, and a more interesting unfortune to those that aren't respectful of the flowers." She leans her shoulder into Dakarai. "I think I like this," she says with an approving nod as she scoops the flower bundle up with her tail. The oracle looks at them, baffled and speechless.

Dakarai kept his mouth shut while the oracle talked, he was skeptical of course but other than a small, wry, twist of his mouth, he showed nothing of his skeptisism. That said, what she spoke of wasn't entirely wrong or unbelieveable. It was just some of what she said, for example, the comment about others finding chaos, could easily be derived just from looking at the pair, a shifter alone, that wasn't murderous was strange in itself, the fact she was mated, showed they had been through some adversity so Dakarai really didn't fully believe in divining things from flowers alone.
His ear twitched to Acanthia when she spoke after the oracle had finished speaking, "Sweet is one way to describe it" he muttered under his breath, then stopped as she spoke again, listening to the oracle when she started to describe the other uses for the flowers she had spoken of. Upset stomachs, nausea, sickness, nothing she was speaking of was unknown to him. Many of his mushrooms had the same qualities as the smelly flowers and the sheer smell of THOSE didn't make him feel sick like the flowers did. He sighed as Acanthia licked a flower, he wanted this to be over. He rolled his eyes when the oracle wasn't looking "big deal" he muttered again, hopefully not to where Acanthia could hear him.
When Acanthia spoke to him again he gave a tight smile, he didn't agree but he wasn't going to dissuade her, she already had more talent with plants than he, so while he wasn't confident the oracle's so called fortune was any good, Acanthia got some good from it so that was fine with him. "I'm glad you're happy love, can we get out of here now though? the smells are making me feel sick" now THAT he said loud enough for the oracle to hear, enjoying the baffled look on the mare's face, before he turned with Acanthia and started the small journey home and back to his lovely, musty, earthy smells to purge him of the cloying flowery scents.
