Oᥴtᥲvιᥲ Gormᥲᥒ Awaiting Term | Unsorted | Half-Blood Winter was soon approaching, the first frosts beginning to cling to the windowpane in Octavia's bedroom while the rather scrawny girl huddled beside the small furnace tucked away in the corner, warming her chilled hands against the magical fire. She contemplated going down to the sitting room where the fireplace was bigger, but shared spaces had started to feel like a war zone she didn't want to be part of. Her mother had always been rather critical, but it seemed to have been getting worse lately, where anytime she or her father crossed her line of sight, she had something to gripe about. Sometimes, she would even moan to the walls, as if they were somehow listening. Octavia's father occasionally lost his patience with the theatrics, and then they would have a row, which seemed to be happening more and more frequently these days. Octavia herself was getting rather sick of it all, and had taken to spending time on her own when she could. She couldn't wait to turn eleven at this rate, and get the chance to go off to school. Maybe without her there, her parents would sort things out.
Turning, she grabbed the new guitar her dad had given her for her birthday from the wall, going to sit on her bed and laying it across her lap. It was just the right size for her, had beginner's guides for all of the strings, and was covered in a collage of blue stars. Her head bent down, dark hair falling over her face while she manipulated her left fingers into clumsy chords, her right thumb strumming the strings slowly while she hummed quietly in tandem with the sound. She was still learning, but she liked being able to create music this way. Here, she could create a world all her own. One that understood her, and she enjoyed being in.
As she let herself get lost in the music, a sudden crash broke her out of her reverie. Her fingers stopped moving, and she stared breathlessly at her bedroom door, listening intently for what was happening downstairs. She could only pick it up in pieces, but it seemed her parents were arguing again.".... for one moment.... about what I want.... have to live in this s**t hole!" "Entitled.... ungrateful.... how about you get off your a**.... be a mother!"Some shuffling and stomping followed, moving up the stairs before a door slammed down the hall. Soft wooden creaks followed, before Octavia heard a gentle knock at her door, her father's face appearing as it cracked open. The spectacled man offered a small, sympathetic smile. "Via, darling.. How about you and I go out for a while, hm? I can take you to the Diagon Alley, and we can pick out some treats? How does that sound?"Octavia gazed at her father silently for a moment, letting out a slow sigh before giving him a tired nod and sliding off her bed, stooping down to rummage for her boots. Anything was better than staying in the house after they'd had an argument, something her father seemed to understand quite well. Grabbing her bag, she followed her father down to the fireplace in the living room, watching as he grabbed a fist full of floo powder before squeezing into the snug space together and holding tight to his arm. She had travelled by floo powder before, so she understood the feeling of being sucked through the network like a straw, and how easy it was to lose your bearing."Diagon Alley!" Phillip announced clearly as he tossed the powder at their feet, Octavia letting out a loud sneeze before green flames erupted around their bodies and the pair vanished without a trace.Dᥲყs sᥱᥱm somᥱtιmᥱs ᥲs ιf thᥱყ'ᥣᥣ ᥒᥱvᥱr ᥱᥒd Sᥙᥒ dιgs ιts hᥱᥱᥣs to tᥲᥙᥒt ყoᥙ Bᥙt ᥲftᥱr sᥙᥒᥣιt dᥲყs, oᥒᥱ thιᥒg stᥲყs thᥱ sᥲmᥱ Rιsᥱs thᥱ mooᥒ
