Formerly:
Guild PSA: January 2026 - About Edutainment Scoring

Hello, everyone. Here is the First PSA for the Mermaid Princess 2026, about the characters explaining about the Edutainment Pro Scoring Method that I used earlier when playing an Edutainment Game on a Virtual Machine.

Each Edutainment Pro Scoring Method used differs from game to game or Game Series to Game Series from the 1980s to Early 2000s.

This section is also outside the main IC for the guild.

Well hello. I'm Prince Richard from the Mermaid Princess RP Guild, with me is Athena, Emmaline & Crysta from the same RP Guild.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Now you're wondering how the Narrator did the Score Calculation for the Edutainment Games on the Virtual Machines.
Well, let's break it down into its aspects, diving into said aspect in more detail and seeing how it can be used to benefit. To start things off, I'll explain the method used for the JumpStart Assessment Tests & ADAPT Deluxe 2-DIsc Assessment Test Drives.
Richard said to Athena, Emmaline and Crysta.

User Image
The JumpStart Assessment Tests are divided into 2 Eras being the Parent Resource Center Era from 1998 to 2001 and Advanced Era from 2002 to 2007. I'll first Focus on the Parent Resource Center Era...
That Era has a total of 11 Tests across its 1998 to 2001 Release Library.
= JumpStart Preschool 1999
= JumpStart Pre-K
= JumpStart Kindergarten 1998
= JumpStart 1st Grade Classic 1995
= JumpStart 1st Grade 2000
= JumpStart 2nd Grade
= JumpStart 3rd Grade Mystery Mountain
= JumpStart 4th Grade 1996: Haunted Island
= JumpStart 4th Grade 2000: Sapphire Falls
= JumpStart 5th Grade: Jo Hammet Kid Detective
and
= JumpStart 6th Grade Mission EarthQuest

The Assessment Tests can be installed form the CDs by copying their TEST Folder into the Hard Drive as doing so, requires the Folder Copy to be Renamed on the Hard Drive so avoid confusion or started from the CD by selecting "Assessment" from the AutoRun...

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
**JumpStart Preschool 99 Chart*
...Each Assessment Test has 3 Questions and the play has one shot to answer all 3 in a single subject otherwise, that subject is skipped and the next subject is shown. As the subjects in each test differ from game to game.
For JumpStart Preschool 99 as an Example:
Each Subject has 3 Points in the Test, that's 1 Level per Point per Subject Question. Those Subjects are...
= Colors, Shapes, Sizes
= Quantities
= Listening
= Phonics
= 123s
= ABCs
= Differences
and
= Matching
So we have 8 Subjects... For a Minimum, Middle or Maximum Score, you need to Multiply the Number of Subjects with the Number of Levels in that game...

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
So doing the math on this...
8 JumpStart Preschool 99 Subjects Multiplied by 1 Level = 8 Points as the Minimum Score

8 JumpStart Preschool 99 Subjects Multiplied by 2 Levels = 16 Points as the Middle Score

and
8 JumpStart Preschool 99 Subjects Multiplied by ALL 3 Levels = 24 Points as the Maximum Score...
See how this works, Athena, Emmaline & Crysta?
We do this method for the Remaining 10 Assessment Tests in the JumpStart Series to build a result chart with its Subjects including the multiples of the Skill Levels.

So these are methods teachers use in schools correct?
thinks Crysta fascinating

User Image
Athena

"Have you seen a world that makes such wonderful things before?"

I see how it made sense for the narrator to multiply the # of subjects with the number of levels =)
thinks pretty cool subjects too, smart

User Image
Emmaline
Princess of Merroway Cove

ahha yes we see how it works, for all 3 levels 8 times 3 = 24 maximum points, that's great, and there are 10 assessment tests left? good luck with the result chart=)

*JumpStart Pre-K Chart*
User Image

Of course. Here's a Table Chart of the Rest of the JumpStart Games from Pre-K to 6th Grade...
For JumpStart Pre-K's 9 Subjects
= ABC Order
= Counting
= Numbers
= Letter Sounds
= ABCs
= Sequencing
= Shapes, Sizes, Colors
= Visual Memory
and
= Sorting
So that's a factor of 1x9, 2x9 & 3x9 for the JumpStart Pre-K Assessment Test.

9 JumpStart Pre-K Subjects Multiplied by 1 Level = 9 Points as the Minimum Score

9 JumpStart Pre-K Subjects Multiplied by 2 Level = 18 Points as the Minimum Score

and
9 JumpStart Pre-K Subjects Multiplied by 3 Level = 27 Points as the Minimum Score.

The thing about the JumpStart Assessment Tests is that each subject has 3 Consecutive Questions and one shot to get all of them right. Meaning if a person gets 2 right but one wrong. They would skip to the next subject, starting its 3 Questions from Scratch but retains their best score from the previous subject.
Richard said to the Girls.

*JumpStart 4th Grade Haunted Island 1996 Chart*
User Image

JumpStart 1st Grade had 2 Versions... One in 1995 which had 10 Subjects being the Classic Edition and the other in 2000 that had 18 Subjects. The 2000 Version with the Pirate theme was released a year before Windows XP which is around the time of the Modern Windows NT Era. The 1995 Version was designed for Windows 9x...
Moving on to JumpStart 4th Grade Haunted Island 1996 which has 8 Subjects
= Spelling
= Grammar
= Adding & Subtracting
= Long Division
= Decimals
= Logic
= History
and
= Geography
The Scoring Factors for JumpStart 4th Grade Haunted Island 1996 fall under these Multiples...
1x8 for Level 1 Scoring = 8 Points Minimum
2x8 for Level 1 Scoring = 16 Points Minimum
and 3x8 for Level 1 Scoring = 24 Points Minimum
Richard said to the Girls.

*JumpStart 4th Grade 2000 Sapphire Falls Chart*

Before moving on to JumpStart 4th Grade 2000, its worth mentioning that Haunted Island lasted for 2 years before being discontinued and for a good reason as parents and teachers found Haunted Island to be too scary for children...

The game's horror-themed setting, complete with graveyards, mummies, vampires, and a wicked witch was deemed inappropriate for an edutainment title aimed at 8-10 year olds. Haunted Island's dark atmosphere, eerie visuals, and unsettling character designs stood out as to Nightmarish for Children causing Haunted Island to be a Cult Classic Educational Game due to its traumatic childhood experience troupes.

Sapphire Falls on the other hand was more light-hearted as a Scooby Doo like Mystery where the goal was to solve the mystery of a Bigfoot Monster who is haunting the Sapphire Mines which is said to contain a treasure trove of Gemstones.
Moving on to Sapphire Falls 2000, it has a total of 12 subjects instead of 8 being...
= Spelling
= Parts of Speech
= Adding & Subtracting
= Multiplication & Division
= Estimating & Rounding
= Prime Numbers, Fractions, Decimals
= History
= Geography
= Science
= The Arts
= Musical Notes
and
= Vocabulary Skills
The Scoring Factors for JumpStart 4th Grade 2000 Sapphire Falls fall under these Multiples...
1x12 for Level 1 Scoring = 12 Points Minimum
2x12 for Level 1 Scoring = 24 Points Minimum
and 3x12 for Level 1 Scoring = 36 Points Minimum

*JumpStart 5th Grade Jo Hammet Kid Detective Chart*

Next we have JumpStart 5th Grade being more difficult which features a Tomboy Female Protagonist. This time, it has 9 Subjects
= Spelling
= Adding
= Subtracting
= Multiplication
= Division
= Fractions
= Decimals
= Pattern Recognition
= Sequencing
and
= History & Science
The Scoring Factor for JumpStart 5th Grade uses a Multiple of 9 table...
1x9 for Level 1 Scoring = 9 Points Minimum
2x9 for Level 2 Scoring = 18 Points Middle
3x9 for Level 3 Scoring = 27 Points Maximum
Its worth mentioning that while some & most can add 2 plus 2 together, JumpStart 5th Grade & 6th Grade Assessment Tests feature more difficult numbers.

*JumpStart 6th Grade Mission EarthQuest Chart*

Last But not least in the Parent Resource Center Era of JumpStart is JumpStart 6th Grade, the hardest of them all. Containing 11 Subjects ranging from
= Adding & Subtracting
= Multiply & Divide
= Complex Numbers
= Dater Interpretation
= Science
= Ancient History
= Expression Speech
= Literature
= Grammar
= Geography
and
= Fine Arts
The Scoring Factor for JumpStart 6th Grade uses a Multiple of 11 table...
1x11 for Level 1 Scoring = 11 Points Minimum
2x11 for Level 2 Scoring = 22 Points Middle
3x11 for Level 3 Scoring = 33 Points Maximum.

Care to hear what's next after all the educational software subject scoring is calculated and multiplied before we proceed to the 4 JumpStart Advanced Assessment Tests from Preschool to 2nd Grade Score Calculation?

Now we reached the point where we add up all the scores for the current game or game series to determine its overall score... Richard said to the Girls.

*JumpStart Level 1 Assessment Test Score Totals*
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. User Image
First we add up the Minimum Scores for the JumpStart Assessment Tests as we do this in Ascending Skills from Easiest to Hardest...

At Level 1 we add the scores from the Assessment Tests together using an overall Addition factor question:
8 (Preschool 99)
+9 (Pre-K)
+10 [Kindergarten 98]
+10 (1st Grade 1995)
+18 (1st Grade 2000)
+5 (2nd Grade)
+7 (3rd Grade)
+8 (4th Grade Haunted Island)
+12 (4th Grade Sapphire Falls)
+9 (5th Grade)
+11 (6th Grade)
= 107 Points Minimum for the 11 JumpStart Assessment Test Level 1 Overall Score
Richard said to the Girls.

*JumpStart Level 2 Assessment Test Score Totals*
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. User Image
At Level 2, we add the scores from the Assessment Tests together using an overall Addition factor question on the Overall Middle Score:
16 (Preschool 99)
+18 (Pre-K)
+20 [Kindergarten 98]
+20 (1st Grade 1995)
+36 (1st Grade 2000)
+10 (2nd Grade)
+14 (3rd Grade)
+16 (4th Grade Haunted Island)
+24 (4th Grade Sapphire Falls)
+18 (5th Grade)
+22 (6th Grade)
= 214 Points Minimum for the 11 JumpStart Assessment Test Level 2 Overall Score.
So for the Middle Score on Level 2, that's worth Double the Minimum Score on Level 1, like Schoolhouse Rock Song, Elementary (Multiples of 2s, Doubles)

*JumpStart Level 3 Assessment Test Score Totals*
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. User Image
At Level 3, we add the scores from the Assessment Tests together using an overall Addition factor question on the Overall Maximum Score:
24 (Preschool 99)
+27 (Pre-K)
+30 [Kindergarten 98]
+30 (1st Grade 1995)
+54 (1st Grade 2000)
+15 (2nd Grade)
+21 (3rd Grade)
+24 (4th Grade Haunted Island)
+36 (4th Grade Sapphire Falls)
+27 (5th Grade)
+33 (6th Grade)
= 321 Points Minimum for the 11 JumpStart Assessment Test Level 2 Overall Score.
So for the Maximum Score on Level 3, that's worth Triple the Minimum Score on Level 3, like the Schoolhouse Rock Song, Three is a Magic Number (Multiples of 3, Triples)
