The recent rains had dampened more than just the ground. Eyvind sulked and pouted as mud squelched around his feet with each step. The state of his mane and tail were completely unacceptable, and almost pushed the stallion into meltdown mode as his bouncy curls laid flat and plastered to his body, serving more "drowned rat" than "debonair dreamboat." Frequent groans and whines could be heard as he trudged along, seeking some kind of shelter from the rain.
As he ducked under cover of some trees, he caught a passing glimpse of a pair of cardinals snuggled together on a branch. A distinct "ugh" escaped his lips and he rolled his eyes at the pair as he continued deeper into the cover of the trees. Eyvind had been single for quite a while now, and often was annoyed at couples and their displays of affection. Though he must admit, they looked awfully warm and cozy in this rain. Perhaps it was with a little bit of jealousy that he stopped beneath a large tree with a thick canopy, shaking off the water from his coat, sending droplets spraying all around him.
