When Shantae was being worked on for the GBC,
Erin Bozon, then engaged future wife of Matt Bozon, came up with the idea of the main character while coming back from her camp counselor days. She named her "Shantae" after one of the campers who's name was Chante.
At the time, Erin had very long hair and would often hit Matt in the face with her hair each time she turned around. That's how Shantae's Hair Whip idea came from in the games. That was in 1994, 4 Years before the Game Boy Color was released and by 2002, Shantae was also one of the last games for the Game Boy Color. |
