As distracted as he was by the hatchlings, Cloud didn't even notice the newest hostage addition to their team. But when he did, it was when Cheri gave the otter pokemon a smack on his head. Instinctively, the Togepi gasped and pulled his arms... up. He'd meant to cover his own head, as if blocking a blow, but his arms didn't reach up that high. "Cheri! Why are you hitting that baby?"
It didn't look like she'd hit him very hard, but still! It must've hurt, the– Noah 2 had been rubbing his head like it did.
Cloud was still waiting for an answer when Bloud caught his attention. "Cl–" He was still working on words and sounds outside of his head, but the first syllable of his name was enough to grab the spike ball's attention. "What is it, Blo–" Something tall moved in the corners of his vision, then it was right in his face, and Cloud couldn't help but to stop and stare into the face of a pokemon that was staring, analyzing, him from only an inch away. When neither spoke for a few seconds, he decided to break the ice, "Hello there! Are you one of the new babies too?"
The pokemon continued staring into him in lieu of responding before it zipped away to hover above the wagon. The babies inside of it, including a small green snake, stared up at it with wonder. "Yes," it finally answered, in a flat and emotionless tone; it kind of reminded Cloud of a robot! The blue and red noodle-armed baby cocked its head to the left then the right, taking in each individual with silent scrutiny.
"But not for long." And with that cryptic answer, the baby pokemon launched itself across the lake, the force behind its unannounced flight splitting the water and revealing its bottom before the newly-created waves crashed into each and made the lake whole again.

Cloud, who was still wide-eyed and open-mouthed, watched the baby cross the lake in the amount of time it took him to draw two breaths and then disappear over a hill. "Oh." In all his egg hatching days, he'd never had a newborn run off on him! What was he supposed to do now? Chase after it? Even if he was on Castle, he didn't think they'd be able to catch up with it: it was a very fast baby who already knew how to fly!
Maybe Beardia would know what to do! But, hm, she wasn't back yet, was she? Cloud gave a quick spin-check to be sure. Nope! She was still gone, hopefully in search of yummy treats. So, the only thing to do was wait and keep an eye on the rest of the babies; he'd make doubly sure that none of the other ones ran away!
With a hardened resolve, Cloud helped the other 3 babies onto the sand and didn't even wait until the 5th egg had fully hatched before he began boisterously welcoming it into the world. The other 3, realizing what he was doing, crowded the wagon curiously before adding in their own shouts of encouragement. It was really nice of them to do so! But, when the tiny bird pecked its way out of its shell, it greeted the pushing, overzealous crowd with a frightful cry and a panicked, wing-fluttering tumble out of the wagon.

"Hm." Were they? She wasn’t sure but saw no reason to question Cloud’s statement; pink was a superior color no matter the shade. Besides, watching poor Bloud struggle to remove the gem pokemon from the wagon was far more interesting. Hopefully, he wouldn’t break this one.
She’d be rather upset about that. There were probably only so many wagons on the island and she had a sneaking suspicion that after a time Beardia would refuse to bring replacements for them if enough were damaged. And with how quickly these eggs were hatching, there’d be little time to hunt a new one down on her own.
Cheri perked up as Cloud gasped in response to her actions. What was the problem here? Lafayette smacked his pokemon all the time, and people too. And various other things if he was given the chance. It was fair to assume that Cloud was not familiar with these ways. Very few trainers seemed to act the way the Aussie acted.
"It’s okay. Noah is fine with it and I’m sure Noah 2 is as well. It helps him think." That’s what she would believe at least. Her gaze shifted to the colorful noodle that'd hatched from one of Cloud’s eggs. Wow, it was already speaking! Sort of. Not that pokemon babies were helpless like human babies, but it was still a pleasant surprise.
And then it went and ruined the lake, and that was terrible. "Oh. That was rude." Cheri remarked, watching as the water slammed back into one surface, wild waves churning up as it tried to restore its previous state of peace.
"Why is it running off, Cloud? Is it going somewhere?" Did it have somewhere to be? Interesting for something that was just hatched. Cloud looked absolutely baffled though. Hm. Very strange.
Ah well. It would probably be back for the snacks. Assuming any were left. Cheri turned her attention to the boisterous round of greetings being presented to the newest of hatchlings. Cloud and his clan were very good at it! She should probably copy him, in making the babies feel welcomed.
Or continue as she was because it also worked. At least, it seemed to work. And if it didn’t? Well, no one was saying anything, and silence was just as much a confirmation as words! She turned her attention from the wagon to Noah 2 who had begrudgingly set about his task after she’d sent him on his way. He’d tried to agree with Cloud’s assessment that the smackings were undeserved, but a clear unnerving stare had silenced that train of conversation.
Fortunately, what he lacked in intelligence (in Cheri’s opinion) he made up in speed. Already he’d collected another bundle of eggs for the pair to take care of, though the sneaking hints of thought told Cheri to keep an eye on him as he continued his endeavor. Because apparently someone was considering making a bolt for it.
Just because she hadn’t helped hatch him, didn’t mean Cheri would let any babies disappear on her watch. Especially the working ones. "Okay Cloud, who should we teach to swim first?" Cheri shuffled to the pile and chose an egg at random, beginning to move towards the shoreline. While they waited for snacks, they could get tossing after all.

Calming the bird—not the same as Cheri's but familiar all the same—took a few seconds: a lot of gentle hushes and even gentler hed pats were what finally stopped the baby's panicked squawks, and by that time all but the gem baby had toppled out of the wagon to join it. Cloud helped the gem baby personally: using a bit of psychic power, he carefully lifted it uuuuup and then dooown so that it was settled in the midst of its friends. There! Now they had room for more eggs! This was great because Blobby had gone to collect more after watching the noodle-arm baby zip away, and at some point returned to its gelatinous form.

Now that they had more eggs they just needed to wait for Beardia to return so that she could take these new batch of babies! She was going to be teleporting a lot, Cloud hoped it wasn't too much for her and she didn't get an itchy brain. Until then though, they were finally going to teach the babies to swim! The spike ball hefted an egg above his head with his mind and moved quickly to join Cheri by the water. He'd been thinking a lot about what she said, and now he had an answer! Sorta. "What if hitting Noah 2 in the head makes him lose all his thinking?" he asked, genuinely worried about such a thing. "Maybe that's why Noah 1 is so useless now! 'Cause he got hit in the head a lot!" Plus, it was really, really mean to hit your friends!
Cloud gently set his egg down just close enough to the water that the incoming waves lapped gently against its shell. "And... I dunno about Noodle! I hope it comes back, I dunno where it would need to go after just hatching." But, he sure hoped it came back! He'd start to worry otherwise.

"How go the swimming lessons?"
A growingly-familiar voice called out to the two from behind. Cloud didn't even need to turn around to know it was Beardia, but he did so anyway and boisterously waved at her. "We're just about to start!" he answered and tap-tap-tapped the top of his egg as proof. The Alakazam nodded her head, but already her attention had fallen to the new gaggle of baby pokemon whose wide-eyed stares were coming from every direction. She said nothing to this and instead gestured to the left of her, where a few brightly colored bowls rested. "I've brought the babies their food. It's safe to consume for all." 'All' meaning Castle, who Cheri had expressed concern for earlier. There was a pause and then an audible sigh before she unfurled her hand. Cloud was too far away to see, but Beardia was quick to fill them in.
"I couldn't find any bags of sugar or doughnuts, or... cotton candy. But, I was able to find a few pieces of candy. You may have them if you'd like. Or, you can wait until after your lessons to eat them."

Blobby, who had no interest in learning how to swim, stood back with the wagon, and the eggs, and the hatchlings. It turned its body in Noah 2's direction, not quite what to make of him: he was helping them, but he didn't look happy to be. Blobby didn't let their newcomer remain the center of his attention, he couldn't. Not when he had all the others to keep an eye on. Noodle was the first and last baby that would run away!
Still, watching 9 hatchlings while being outnumbered by 8 was a lot of work. So, Blobby was grateful when Beardia appeared: she pulled their attention immediately: with her flowing beard and sudden appearance, no one who'd never seen her before could look away.

The next egg to hatch didn't announce itself: no shaking, no cracks, no quaking. Without warning, an egg to Blobby's left exploded into bits of shell that hit the ground and the closest hatchlings, and the largest piece—the top piece, which had been broken into a jagged crown—fell to the ground a few feet away from Cloud and Cheri. Blobby looked at that first, its open-mouth smile transforming into a perfect 'o': that piece had flown far!
"ZARUDE!"
The newest hatchling howled its existence into the world, and from the remnants of its shell, it gave a hoot, louder still, and began stomping on the shell pieces giddily.

"BzzzZzzZZZZzzzt BzzzZzzzZzZzt BzzzzzzZzzzZzZZZZT" a body of loose plasma shot out of the wall outlet and bounced across a room littered with Pokemon Eggs. Embryos could be seen through the shell from the light as the bolt passed behind. Soon enough the plasma smacked into a washing machine before taking shape. "ZzzzZt ErrrrZZZzzt canZzt not washzzzt eggzzzzz detectezzt"
The Pokemon opened up the appliance it was taking shape of. Apparently someone had stuffed it full of eggs! As Rotom's eyes adjusted even more eggs could be spotted. The Pokemon was surprised they hadn't actually broken any of them when bouncing around the room. The eggs inside the washer had been lined in a way that saw them somehow incubating. Now that there was a consistent surge of power there was some sort of light strip connected to each Egg. Five of them started blinking with an orange light. "Newzzz primarZzzy directizzz. MuzZZZzt hatch eggzZzzz."
Cheri pressed a paw over her mouth. There was a moment of silence before a serious shake of her head. "No, I don’t think so. That would require a brain to think, and Noah certainly doesn’t have one." She glanced in the direction Noah 2 had waddled off, keeping a close eye on his whereabouts. "I’m not sure if Noah 2 has much brains either. But I’ll refrain from hitting him if you’d like that better." She liked Cloud and didn’t want him angry at her for any particular reason. She could sense the smacks weren’t a welcomed sight, which was fine, there were other ways to get the Oshawott in line. Less visible.
Her gaze shifted across the lake to where Noodle had disappeared off too. "That’s true." Imagine coming into the world and not seven seconds later needing to be somewhere. That was a tiring thought. For now, there was little they could do to retrieve the missing pokemon, back to teaching eggs to swim instead. Cheri glanced down at her collection, taking the nearest one and shoving it further until it floated in the water. Not so far that it might drift off and out of reach (that’d be not good) but just enough to see what happened. Which was quite impressive.
Cheri turned her gaze to Beardia as she reappeared, head bobbing in agreement with Cloud’s proclamation. "Yes, we were." Give or take, given she’d already shoved an egg slightly into the water. It was probably bad that she wasn’t paying attention to it, instead focusing in on the candies that the Alakazam had brought.
"Hm," Cheri responded, tone flat in disappointment. Much as Beardia had stated that there was no guarantee she would find any sugary sweets, the Espurr had sternly believed this was a lie and she would return with something. Oh well, beggars couldn’t be choosers.
"What type of candy?" She inquired, eyeing the various wrapped goodies in the palm of the pokemon’s hand. It looked like hard candy, but you could never truly tell from the brightly colored wrapping paper.
Noah 2, off in the distance, continued his forced labor of finding eggs to add to the growing pile. He didn’t miss that Cheri’s lingering gaze was following him every which way that he went, which made his plans of escape all the less likely. He only paused a moment to look at the Alakazam that had appeared to begin talking with the crew. Maybe she could help him?
Of course, that question didn’t get to linger long in his mind before a loud wail erupted from the direction of the wagon. The Oshawott jumped a good foot in the air before slamming unceremoniously back to the ground butt first with a thud. Frazzled he looked over to the large monkey-like being that’d appeared with a roar of noise. As if all the giants weren’t enough, now they had to be loud.
While the adults (was that what you called them?) talked and the minions collected, Castle, who was vaguely aware that its presence was not needed on either front, turned its attention to the food bowls that Beardia had brought. They were an array of colors that delighted its various life forms. They’d never eaten before, being just born, and barely functioning together a system, but they looked forward to the new process!
Now how did that work? Castle hadn’t bothered to wait for someone to assist it. It ‘sat down’, setting its flat underside onto the ground so that its limbs were free and no longer supporting it. It raised one of said limbs, attempting to lightly probe at the bowl without crushing it. Castle had quickly figured out that its large form was a heavy one and that the smaller creatures steered clear out of fear of harm. Unfortunately, they didn’t quite have a handle on the weight of their limbs, crushing half of a bowl as it tried to roll one of the bits free. Oops.
