When Aqua & Ventus turned 16 years old, Kanako, Larxene & Marico turned 17 years old and when Shae & Kendall turned 15 years old, they were permitted to see the open waters and as a chaperone, Madison accompanied her daughters. Madison is also the aunt of Kairi, Namine & Xion, while her children are Kairi, Namine & Xion's cousins.
