⇨☾⇨The laboratory is a favorite location for lab classes. This room is frequently used for experiments and other lab activities. Outside of class times it can be used for individual experiments and it is also attached to the hospital wing of the DWMA.

⇨☾⇨Ever since the Lantern Lair and Moonman craziness, Joan was trying to settle back into some semblance of routine. She was attending her classes with punctuality and focus. Joan and Rhett had a lab class together and had thirty minutes until their next class. They slipped outside together and found a spot behind a wall to...spend time together. One aspect of Joan's life that was different was how she was starting to follow her heart. There was a lot more passion in her life now and she was worried that it was getting in the way of her responsibilities. Joan was leaning against the wall as she coiled her arms over Rhett's shoulders and kissed him for several minutes. "Remember that we shouldn't be late, Rhett." Joan was worried about missing class although she was tempted. She gently kissed his neck as she waited for his response.

This period before class was what Rhett had been waiting for all day since he woke up. Ever since the events of the Lantern Lair and the strange Moon episodes, the boy was happy to see that Joan was out and quickly beginning to listen to herself more. Watching his partner slowly stop becoming as rigid as before was nice. It made these private moments all the more special. His lips pressed into hers, the redheaded meister holding his partner closely. After their last passionate kiss, Joan broke away and showed his neck such affection. He let out a soft noise, one that showed he felt emotions stirring inside of him, though loved her touch so. "W-We won't." he stifled. "We'll be in class before the bell this time." He smirked, hugging the woman tight while playing with her hair, His hands fluffed as he'd look at her in the eyes. "How are you doing though? I don't want to force you to continue this if you don't want to do it."

⇨☾⇨Joan answered his question with another intimate kiss that she smiled into. She gave him the longest and most passionate kiss that she could possibly give him. Her hands rubbed his arms and shoulders as she kissed him. When it was finally over she separated from him as her face flushed. "As long as we keep our grades up and keep going on missions it should be fine, I hope." Joan did feel some guilt still despite her projected confidence. She was supposed to be the one to keep Rhett focused on his goals. Instead, she felt like she was letting her personal feelings get in the way. But she cared about Rhett, how could expressing her affection be a bad thing? "D-do you think anybody has noticed what's going on between us?" She asked as she lifted her hands from his shoulders to sweetly cup his face.

His question was answered by another long kiss, one that surprised him by how intimate Joan was getting. When she was done, Rhett's face was just as red as the hair on his little timid head. The academy didn't appear to have any conflict with the two of them dating despite being paired for another reason. But to him, it only strengthened the bond that the both of them shared with one another. "Nobody's stopped us yet. S-So maybe not yet?" he offered a weak smile and pulled her into a hug again before Joan noticed that little smile he gave when a bout of confidence wormed its way into the boy. Those fiercely devoted eyes staring back at her from the Rhett she used to find so aloof, his chin resting in her hands. "We'll take things as they come. So don't look so worried. Besides." he leaned in to smooch her cheek again. "A smile suits you better than a frown."

⇨☾⇨Rhett was good at putting Joan at ease. She hugged him one last time after he kissed her cheek so softly. "You're right. I'm sorry for being so worried all the time." Joan had never felt this way about anybody before and his devoted gaze only made her more flustered. She kept her emotions under lock and key for so long because she did not want to appear overly emotional or feminine. She had to be powerful and almost masculine to avoid being ridiculed for her lack of "feminine" graces, whatever that meant. Joan put no stock into such nonsense but it plagued her life from the input of others nonetheless. "Get that red out of your face before we head to class." She was blunt and strict again as she focused on what was next. Rhett blushed so easily and she wanted to make sure that it did not give away what they were doing. She brushed her fingers through her hair as she collected herself before walking to class.

⇨☾⇨Joan walked with Rhett to class as she carried her books in her wide, strong arms. She placed them at her desk and settled herself in the laboratory classroom. "Did you remember to read those twenty pages for this class last night?" She asked in order to keep track of Rhett's motivation and progress in his studies. She revealed her perfectly written, detailed notes to him as she waited for the class to begin.

Professor Wright was leaning against his desk and facing the board, lost in thought as he looked at its blank space. He was deep in thought until he heard the shuffling of papers behind him. He turned around and looked at Joan and Rhett and the other students, putting on a polite smile. He had a reputation as an airhead, but today was something special. "Class, we'll actually be doing something different today. We will continue our discussion of the history of medical malpractice on weapons next week, so please continue to study for your presentations on the ethical limitations of science at the end of the month. As for today, class is cancelled. I urge you to spend this time visiting the Cirque de lu Folie. It only comes once every three years."

His expression stayed a split between jovial and neutral. His thoughts and suspicions about the circus hid beneath the surface. It wasn't the kind of thing he wanted to indulge in aloud, not without gathering more evidence. "I want you all to be attentive spectators during the circus. While I can't require this extra-curricular for the course, I can offer extra credit for visiting the circus and submitting a two-page write-up of the things you witnessed. Of course, remember to bring a souvenir from the circus as proof of attendance."

They hugged one final time, Rhett combing his fingers through Joan's hair again before being taken aback by her sudden shift in tone. His blush intensified as they were soon on their way towards their class for the day. The crimson haired boy stood a bit taller now that he was able to confess his feelings for his partner. Although it was a tad much to hide it, in his eyes, but he continued to make Joan feel more at ease. Her muscular arms made him think back about her comment a while ago, about staying in her weapon form all the time. It wasn't a fate that Rhett would want to befall her, let alone anyone else. So he would have to make her happy so she wouldn't think of such things.

They were both seated and Rhett dumped his books and things in front of him, soon looking over at Joan's notes while nodding his head. "I did last night. I tried to make my own notes." He slid a sheet of paper out of the cover of his book to show her. His handwriting left a lot to be desired and he clearly didn't understand a lot of the vocabulary used, but at least his head was in the right place! The teacher came in like always and announced that class was cancelled for today, instead, urging students to attend the circus that was nearby. While he had better things to do in his time, extra credit was a god send to him, as Joan likely knew. The poor boy just didn't have much attention in him in the classroom, and that this would be that nice bump to ensure he wasn't getting all C's this semester.

"Two pages on a circus show, huh?" Rhett mumbled to himself. "I'd rather just stay and train by myself. Or just read the next chapter ahead."

⇨☾⇨Joan was somewhat annoyed by the news that class was canceled for the day. Mostly because she spent so much time on her notes yesterday. She got the feeling that Professor Wright just wanted a gift from the circus. After all, would a ticket not suffice as proof? She listened to Rhett and just hummed as she thought of what to do next with her partner. "It seems like Professor Wright really wants people to go, Red. Maybe it'll turn into a mission? Or at least be fun. What do you think?" She gracefully made the suggestions to Rhett of why they might want to go.

Rhett gave Joan a pout, the kind she had seen before from working with him. Her clearly wasn't a huge fan of circus things or really even going, but it was probably more so out of a fear of discomfort that he had with the environment. But still, it did sound like Joan wanted to go in the off chance that it would mean a mission and he did need that extra credit after all. The awkward Abernathy exhaled but eventually would agree to go. "I guess we should go..." she said in that aloof and uncertain voice of his. "I wish it was just a normal day of class though. If it's just some random circus, I'm not sure why he wanted us to go." Rhett got out of his seat and would stand while cleaning up all of his supplies to take off for that destination of theirs. He would sometimes look at Joan for a bit and then look away, sometimes with a faint color to his cheeks as he couldn't hide his feelings as well as his partner could. "Ready to go?"

⇨☾⇨She nodded to Rhett when he asked if she was ready. "Yeah." The swordmaiden responded flatly but she could not help but be amused by Rhett's blush when he stole a glance at her. Could he be anymore obvious? She had a feeling that their secret would get out soon but she was endeared by the sincerity of his feelings. Joan packed her bag and bowed politely to the professor. She walked out of the classroom with Rhett and headed toward the event plaza.
