User ImageAs the screaming woman continued to scream at her mate, she had finally caught a glance of the intimidating Reapers surrounding them when one of them started to step towards her. The screaming all but stopped as she suddenly backed away a few steps, her body language suddenly changing as she turned inwards on herself and huddled in when she noticed the Reaper stopped in his tracks. He bowed all of a sudden, and the woman didn't know what to make of this, utterly confused until she heard an unfamiliar, stern voice behind her. Turning around, she took note of One, and her eyes went wide with surprise. When One started to speak, the woman winced lightly, assuming she was about to be reprimanded or admonished in some way... but then she heard her words.

The woman's eyes went wide as the weapons were held out for her. She simply stared at them for a moment, unsure of what to make of what was happening. At One's command, the woman reached out and took the blade, staring at it with disbelief in her eyes. Was she truly meant to strike at him here? What in the world was going on? Her mind was racing, trying to make sense of what would have been unthinkable in life. But that was just it wasn't it, she wasn't anymore... Alive. Her eyes started to tear up as the air around them completely settled once more. All of the items that had started to lift off of the ground falling around them, and she came to an even more difficult realization. Not only was she expected to take out her frustration on him, but she had come to realize that all eyes were on them at that moment, and audience of Reapers around them as well as many other Souls who had backed off from the lobby, but were watching from a distance none the less. With all of their eyes on her, she felt a huge pit in her stomach and started to feel panicked. Then came the moment gave her dread. The moment One gave a weapon to her lover.

At that point, the woman couldn't even think about what might happen. In her mind, she thought there was no way that he would ever, that could ever. But as he stared at his blade, also stuck in his own mind, the idea of striking him, or worse, of being struck by him with a deadly weapon scared the daylights out of her. She dropped her weapon, and buried her face in her hands, sobbing as she fell to her knees. Just as soon as the weapon hit the ground, the Hunter Reapers that had appeared earlier, disappeared just as quickly, their presence no longer needed as the situation diffused itself. A few seconds later, the man dropped his blade as well, looking to the ground in both shame and embarrassment before suddenly stormed out of the room.
In the distance, an upper ranked Reaper suddenly appeared, coming down the stairwell just as the commotion had started to conclude. This ranked Reaper was of further prominence, his clothing extravagant and his mask a deep violet. Without skipping a beat he nodded at one of the remaining Reapers in the room, and the Reaper bowed lightly in response and followed after the man. He then stepped over to the woman and brought his hand down before her.

"Come now, why don't we get you situated in your room, give you some time to ease your mind, if you wish, I'd be happy to show you around the facilities once you have calmed down..." The ranked Reaper said while waiting for the woman to take his hand and steady herself. She stood up and nodded weakly as she regained her bearings, and the ranked Reaper led her towards the stairs, nodding at the following Reaper to take her to her quarters. Once the woman was out of sight, the ranked Reaper quickly stepped over to One and bowed deeply.
"My apologies for the disruption, My Lord, 162201 just brought in a triple and was preoccupied when one of the 3 stormed off, I humbly ask your forgiveness for having to personally intervene in the matter," He said with deep respect and remorse at the events that had unfolded. This Reaper was without question fairly old school in his demeanor and position. He was dressed in beautifully ornate but somewhat modern robes, with his mask draped across only half of his face. His words were quick and meaningful, but also somewhat subtle and a bit courtly. After speaking, He remained bowed, his gaze lowered at the ground as he waited for his superior to address him.

The fear of breaking the rules, of being punished, of acting out on your baser urges…it was so…mortal. Human. These people were dead. They could hack and slash at each other for the rest of eternity and there would be no other consequence save their delayed deliverance to their next unknown step in the cycle. And yet, more times than not, when given the option to get revenge, to break the so-called ‘rules’ that they were so used to in life, very few ever actually acted on the opportunity.

More often than not, being offering the chance to harm, to inflict pain, to fight, shocked souls back into a calmer or at least more rational state of thought. There were those few that seized the chance and relished the small revenges they could take, but this clearly wasn’t one of those times. The woman, horrified with the possibility, dropped her knife, buried her face in her hands and collapsed to the floor in a heap of tears.

The Hunters didn’t have to be told to disperse, they did that on their own. Now that the souls had calmed down and their chaotic energy dissolved, there was no longer a threat that needed to be dealt with. Looking toward the Manager as he stepped forward, One let him do his job. Kneeling, she collected her weapons and sheathed them appropriately.

The Manager was quick to come over and offer his apologies and explain the situation to her in a bit of detail. Giving him a little nod, she gestured to the three new Reapers she’d brought with her. “No need to apologize. It served as an opportunity to introduce what we do to the new Reapers I’ve brought with me for Rogue.” Meaning, all was forgiven. One didn’t mind intervening on occasion; she was still a Reaper too.

Approaching the new Reapers, One looked them in the eye as she spoke. “Situations like this arise frequently when people who have died together arrive in this place. Anger is a very potent energy, one that requires dispersing quickly, or it will wreak havoc on the surrounding area. The Reapers who appeared before are called Hunters, it is their job to seek out and deal with souls who are unsettled, angry or dangerous.” And they were exceptionally good at their job.

“Most of the time, offering souls a way to vent their anger will be enough to snap them back to reality. If they had decided to attack one another, no matter how fervently they fought, they would have found that their efforts were in vain. Once you’re dead, you cannot die again.” It would have been messy of course, blood and guts and the like everywhere, but they had custodians for that sort of thing.

Gesturing towards the masked man standing just behind and to the right of her, she made the proper introductions. “This is Chamberlain. Along with Rogue, he oversees The Well as a sort of Manager and makes sure that everything runs smoothly. If he gives you an order, follow it. He will be your guide, your teacher and one of the best mentors you’ll have. Learn from him.” Chamberlain was one of the best Managers in their world, and One would know best – she’d trained them all.

“Now you’ll meet Rogue, the Owner of The Well.” With that One looked to Chamberlain, who she knew would happily lead the way to Rogue’s office where he was more than likely buried under the weight of ceaseless paperwork. She didn’t envy him. Following behind Chamberlain, One made sure that the young Reapers were right behind her, that they didn’t wander off where they shouldn’t. While The Well operated like a sort of Hotel, there were rooms within that naïve young Reapers would wish they’d never found…

It was never ending, the cycle of Life and Death. Moreover, the paperwork that came along with it all. The souls that ended up in The Well needed more help than the average person and that was what Rogue, and his staff were here for, assistance. But while Chamberlain and his team were there to keep order, offer comfort and help research into these people’s lives, it was Rogue’s job to determine where they were meant to go as a result of that research. Sometimes it wasn’t easy.

Looking down at the record in his hands, he heaved a heavy sigh. “Why?” It was a question he asked himself a lot. Often, he didn’t receive answers, but then again, the nature of his job wasn’t to understand why humans did what they did. His job was to help determine where these souls fell into the grand scheme of things. He was like a Judge of sorts, giving out suggested verdicts based on evidence. It was a hard job.

The file he had in his hands belonged to a young girl who’d died suddenly, unexpectedly. On the outside, she seemed sweet and wholesome, surely someone who was destined for Heaven or in the very least reincarnation. But underneath that pretty surface was a rotten exterior. This young girl, barely into her teenage years, was pure evil. How she’d become such a corrupted individual, he hadn’t the faintest idea. Her parents had been loving and attentive, her home had been stable and warm, nurturing. But somehow, with all the love and support in the world, she’d become a monster.

With the information he had, Rogue was inclined to suggest that she be sent to trial for true judgement or straight to hell to be punished for her deeds. Scribbling his notes on the record, he placed it aside with a solemn shake of his head. Caught up in his work, he didn’t realize the time – easy to lose track of when you were dead – until he heard Chamberlain knock on his office door. Spying the clock, he cursed under his breath. “Dammit…” Running a hand over his face, Rogue leaned back in his chair and groaned. Mask tied off to the side, obscuring half of his face, he looked toward the door. “Come in, Chamberlain.”

Rogues office was a vast pace, multi-leveled with enough room to keep copies of all the records he’d ever debated on. There was sitting space for Reapers and souls who requested time with him. It was a warm space, full of soft light. The wood furniture helped in that respect as well. Truly, it felt more like a library or a study hall to Rogue, less like an office.

When Chamberlain led the group inside, Rogue stood and bowed his head to One in respect. “One, nice to see you again.” They met often enough when Rogue delivered the records to her so she could then pass them on to the Gods. Their verdicts and the summoning cards were delivered by her as well – cards indicating the souls that needed to be collected and where they were to be directed. Truthfully, Rogue considered One a good friend, but he knew better than to treat her casually. “Please, have a seat everyone.”

Reaper193485 was dreaming, or so she believed. At first there was nothing, only darkness. Then, as if someone flipped a switch, there was a white light. She felt herself going around and around in circles, trying to grasp at the edge of something that felt solid. In her spiral she could see checkpoints. The light itself, a woman's voice- the most beautiful voice she'd ever heard brushing against her eardrums- saying something about a contact? Contract, maybe? On to the next touchpoint- darkness again. Then a stout man, then several children, all skipping in a circle. A woman, crying. A humming sound. Back to the initial darkness. Her subconscious did this tango over and over and over again: the light, the woman, the man, the children, an owl? Occasionally there would be minor details here and there that altered, but the base touch points were always the same. Until at some point, the humming was met with an alternative feeling. Something cold and hard tapped against her forehead. A sharp intake of breath within her own throat let her own body and anyone who might be around her know she was awake now. The touchpoints were gone, save for the woman's voice, the light, and the darkness itself. It was all a minor buzzing in her ears at this point, as she blinked a few times and lifted her head, which had apparently made contact with the window of a car as she snoozed. She shifted in her seat. Her hand left hand reached over to rub the spot on her forehead that collided with the window.

The young looking woman assessed there was no damage other than the cold glass shocking her awake and no real harm done to anything but her pride. She turned to her left to peak at the driver, who either didn't see anything or didn't care, as they remained focused on the road; unbothered by the passenger next to them. She dropped her hand to her lap where it made contact with a mask. She ran her fingertips over it curiously. "Was I dreaming, or remembering?" she whispered to herself. Again, the driver remained un-phased by her presence. The presence of Whom? she found herself thinking curiously, as now that she was awake, she was trying to remember who she was to begin with. She mentally grasped for answers but was met with only more darkness and confusion.

The lady was jolted from her thoughts as she appeared to arrive at her destination. The driver stopped in front of a grand building she found herself gazing up at with a childlike wonder. She stepped out of the car knowing this wasn't her home but it did feel like the right place to be. Perhaps whomever was here could help her with her current conundrum. Clutching the mask within folded arms that clung tightly to her person, she made her way to the entrance of the building in silence. She had new touchpoints now. Curiosity, of course, but also the drop of fear the always comes alongside experiencing new things...

[Where:] [With:] [Feeling:] [Outfit:]
[OOC:]
╔═══════════════════

The white-haired man awaited the coming decision with much interest. He’s noticed that as well as himself, his colleagues as well as the entire foyer had joined in observation, many of the souls maintaining their distance as a crowd of Reapers formed around the arguing couple. The female soul eventually took notice and had stopped wailing at the male the moment One approached her with the weapons. There was a look of indecision, of hesitance, of fear. It was times like these that reminded the man in white of the old adage, “the eyes were the windows to the soul”. Terrified pupils flickered between the souls, the Reapers and the man before her. A few silent seconds passed…then those seconds turned to minutes as the whole of the foyer fell silent. Whether it was out of fear, excitement, or some combination of the two, the man could not tell nor did he care, he simpl continued to watch, eyes akin to those of a hawk. A few seconds later, the women dropped her weapon and collapsed sobbing into her hands, the man too relieving himself of the blade presented to him.

It was then, the white-haired man took noticed of another reaper, a mask of red and white dotted with black covering three quarters of his face. He outstretched his hand to the woman to lead her away to a more secluded location to air her grievances and soon enough, the two disruptive souls were escorted out.

The white-haired man found himself sighing a little, neither in contempt nor relief. He was at least grateful that the previous peaceful atmosphere had reclaimed the foyer. Yet and all, he found himself disappointed somewhat. It would have been interesting to witness a fight between the souls. Alas, it appeared neither of them possessed the courage to act. Strange…such of thought seemed to invoke a feeling of…distaste in him…

He drew his attention back to reality when One had addressed the trio once more. The more the Reaper leader spoke, the more intriguing things became. So, no soul tarnished with emotions such as anger could go unchecked for too long? That such souls invite havoc if left unattended? It was all very educational and invaluable information given the current life and profession they would soon be assigned.

It was then the three were introduced to the other Reaper who aided in calming the earlier altercation. This Reaper went by the alias of “Chamberlain” and he carried himself in a remarkably formal manner. His attired was most eye-catching taking the form of ornate robes, noble in nature and very decorative. In response the man in white bowed his head in greeting.
After introductions were out of the way, the group made their way to the office of the Reape “Rogue” as per One’s instructions. As they walked, the man in white kept his eyes forward, yet he couldn’t shake the feeling the One was watching him. To all intents and purposes, she probably was, she struck him as the cautious type. She would need to be if her current authority over the other Reapers was anything to go by. Someone in her position could never be too careful, after all, not all new Reapers being brought into the fold would necessarily be compliant.

Eventually, they all arrived at their destination, Chamberlain knocking on the door. A voice, perhaps possessing a hint of tiredness, gave permission to enter. Upon entering, the group would see a spacious and lavish office. Finely polished wooden décor and a spiralling staircase leading to the upper floor. The room, with it’s luxurious impression, also carried an air of professionalism. Tidy and organised, qualities the man in white found himself fond of. Most of all however it was vast with plenty of room to move around which…again…invoked another feeling…that of relief.

The voices of One and Rogue would draw his attention once more. Rogue was nothing like he expected, but then again, the man in white wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. The owner of The Well was a well-built man with the body of an trained athlete, not the kind you’d want to go toe-to-toe with, especially when it came to fists. His voice was pleasant enough too, greeting all of them and inviting them to sit.

The white-haired man once again bowed his head in greeting like he had done with Chamberlain, before accepting Rogue’s invitation to sit. The man in white made sure to tidy out the wrinkles in his clothing and sat in a formal manner awaiting to learn more.

Initially believing that giving a feuding pair each a weapon would have surely ended in great bloodshed, the Youth had to admit he'd been surprised to see that it had in fact achieved quite the opposite... After a moment of stunned silence and no doubt deep realisation from the female that the option she had been given was completely unthinkable, the blade now slid from her hands, clattering noisily to the ground as she dropped to her knees, covering her face as she began to weep. With his partner's anger subdued, the hapless instigator would also drop his weapon before taking swift leave of the room... There was no telling what was going through the man's mind, but it had certainly been impressive to witness how One's simple action had brought such an unpredictable dispute to a close - and with only a handful of scattered ornaments to give any hint that an altercation had even taken place!

With Souls now beginning to slowly trickle back into the Hall, the Lad would take the opportunity to get his bearings, identifying popular routes and notable exits before returning his gaze to the scene where One had stooped to pick up her weapons. He tilted his head curiously as he watched a seemingly submissive, yet well presented individual advance towards their guide, perhaps explaining his side of the situation before following behind as she turned and made her way back towards them. As One had been the only Soul to really clarify anything since they'd arrived, the Youth listened intently as she explained that incidences as such needed quick management lest they risk causing chaos to their surroundings - Hence the appearance of the Hunters. It was only now that the Lad noticed that the group had infact disappeared, he even cast a brief glance around in search for them, but would eventually return his attention to One as she began to explain the reasoning behind her own approach.

It was fascinating to learn that even if the pair had come to blows, they would have ultimately realised that their fight was for nought as they were incapable of dying again - 'Did that mean He couldn't Die again?' - The Youth took a moment to imagine all the feats he could accomplish if that were indeed possible before another question brought his fantasies crashing back to Earth... 'Would it still Hurt though?' He shuddered at the thought of misjudging a leap and falling from a great height before his mind went on to question the possibility of becoming embroiled in a physical battle - much like what could have been with the pair only moments beforehand - He had barely thought himself capable of watching a fight with Blades to begin with, let alone consider how he would have coped had he been in their place!

One's introduction to 'Chamberlain' was a welcome distraction from his grisly thoughts however and he would push any notion of eternal pain to the back of his mind before nodding in acknowledgement of the man - perhaps even subconsciously attempting a thin smile had his face not been hidden behind his mask - regardless of what rank this new individual held, it still felt respectful to recognise a superior when they were presented.
After taking note that this man would be another good source to approach should he ever need any advice or mentoring, the Lad would allow the other initiates to move first before falling into line behind them as Chamberlain now lead the way towards the Office belonging to 'Rogue'.

Unsurprisingly, it took them very little time to reach their next destination and having expected to enter into a rather rudimentary style of suite, the grandeur of the room behind Rogue's doorway was far more impressive than the Youth could ever have predicted. The scent of ageing paper enclosed in an equally as mature leather shell was the first thing to hit his senses and he couldn't help but inhale the aroma deeply before turning his head as his eyes caught sight of the spiral staircase leading up to what appeared to be a Library. Now it's presumed that his young mind might have been the reason behind why this staircase initially resembled one of those fancy playpark style slides - and it might have been equally as amusing to picture the man behind the desk taking part in such 'childish amusements' when nobody was looking, but rationality soon won over and the Lad buried the thought with a smirk as the Man offered them the opportunity to take a seat.

Resisting the urge to voice his opinion that some of their group might just need to rest after such an exciting start to their journey - his gaze once again turned to watch the White-Haired Male as he stepped away from the group and took one of the seats. He personally had little intention of sitting down and instead hung back once again before casting a brief glance towards the Light-Haired Female and bowing his head briefly, offering her the option to sit if she wished to...

If prompted again to take a seat, he would fold his arms and lean himself against the arm of one of the larger chairs - it was worth noting this wasn't intentionally a sign of defiance, but if he had the option, he'd rather stand... Forgiving the altercation earlier, the environment felt relatively safe, but something subconscious prompted him to remain standing and until he became too tired to do anything else, that was exactly what he would do...

Reaper No. 182949

The platinum blonde watched the couple with intrigue. She was beyond excited at the prospect of seeing two souls fight one another. Would they bleed? Could they die? She wanted to know so very badly. Watching on her look of childlike wonder would soon disappear as the conflict would have seemed to resolve itself. The look on the female's face told it all. She had no intention of attacking her male companion. She was hurt, angry and probably scared. Closing her gray eyes she sighed slightly disappointed. Soon the sound of the weapons hitting the floor would echo through the foyer, followed by the low sobbing of the female. Looking from her companions to the scene once more she would see a larger, ornately dressed man approaching her and then their guide.

After a brief interaction, One would make her way over to the group and explain a few things. These sorts of situations happened often, anger was a powerful energy that needed to be dealt with quickly or it would cause problems for the surrounding area. Which probably would explain the floating objects and flickering lights. The Reapers that appeared before, and were gone now, were called Hunters. They sought out angry souls and dealt with them. She was sure it was in a much less passive fashion. But the most intriguing part of that was the last bit, no matter how much they tried they would never have been able to kill one another. Because you could not die again. Frowning she crossed her arms under her chest. She had to wonder what the point was for any of this then? To keep certain checks and balances? Or perhaps there was a way to destroy a soul and normal souls couldn't do it? Shaking her head slightly she dismissed the thought as One began her introduction of Chamberlain.

Bowing slightly to the man she sized him up once more. The man was the manager, which meant he reported directly to Rouge. But he showed a deep level of respect for One. Which made sense considering her job and title. The big takeaway was she now had three bosses, One, Chamberlain, and Rouge. So many people. She hoped it didn't become a problem later on. Just the thought of getting barked at by three different people made her anxiety spike for a moment. Shaking it off she would follow after the group as they made their way to meet the owner of The Well, Rogue.

She made sure to walk a few feet behind her comrades as they traveled The Well. None of them had really said a word, nor had they removed their masks. Instead, they silently walked and observed. It was almost irritating. As if they had no questions of their own or any desire to interact. It kinda put her in a mood. But by the time they reached Rogue's office she had pushed it to the back of her mind and would continue to make the best of her current situation. They were to be her teammates or something after all. Might as well continue to give them the chance. Too deep in thought to hear the man's voice from outside the office she simply followed everyone else in when the door was pushed open. The office was unlike anything she could recall seeing. Tall, with an extremely high ceiling, a spiral staircase, and walls of books and the like. The whole atmosphere of the room quickly melted away her anxieties. The smell was familiar, comforting.

After a quick scan of the room, she brought her eyes to meet the owner himself, Rogue. The man was not what she expected in the least. He was hot, plain, and simple. Athletic, strong, diligent, everything you'd ever want in the 'ideal' man. She moved very slowly to a seat, not even seeing the younger males nod to take a seat before him, and damn near fell in it because she refused to look away for a moment. She wasn't sure if having emotions like this was normal considering she was dead but had she met a man like him in her past life she might not have died so suddenly. She was unsure if she had ever met a man quite like him, but she felt that if she had, they didn't leave as strong as an impression as Rogue did. Visibly shaking her head she took this moment to get her thoughts in order. Looking to her comrades she wondered if they had sat. The man in white chose to take a seat, while the other stood quietly behind them. This made her quite uncomfortable. But for now, she'd let it slide since there were so many strong people in one room.

Once more her thoughts would drift off. Were they allowed to date or be romantic now that they were dead? Probably not. If anger was considered a powerful emotion, the love or feelings of that nature were probably just as dangerous. Mentally sighing to herself she would clasp her hands quietly in her lap. She was starting to yearn for something to do to keep her thoughts focused on anything but these particular thoughts. She tried to look around the room with very slight head motions but her eyes always ended up back on Rogue. His mask was very different from theirs and it covered part of his face. Every time she found herself looking at him she would do her best to quickly and subtly advert her eyes, till eventually she gave up and just looked at her hands till the conversation began.

Chamberlain merely nodded and bowed lightly before standing off to the side once the new reapers were brought to Rogue. He waited and listened as Rogue introduced himself and gave the new recruits their orientation as well as their role in the grand scheme of things. Only a few moments into Rogue's introduction, however, Chamberlain was met with a hum and soft voice at his ear. Lowering his gaze, Chamberlain lifted his hand up to his ear as he listened to the message sent by the door staff. He then stepped forward to interject and dismiss himself. "Forgive the interruption, My Lords, it seems yet another has been graciously sent, must be a full moon..." With that Chamberlain bowed to Rogue, and then again at One before simply disappearing into thin air, leaving behind just a small cloud of smoke and shadow. Just as quickly as he would disappear from Rogue's office, Chamberlain would appear out of thin air right in front of the new reaper appearing at their doors, giving a slight bow out of courtesy and welcome, his mask still obscuring half his face. "Welcome to the Wellspring Inn, reaper, I'm sure you have questions, and all will be answered in time, for now, please follow me,"

After his courtly introduction, Chamberlain would turn to lead the new reaper into the inn. Although he was able to quickly shift to other locations in a flash, newly arrived reapers didn't yet have the knowledge or skill to follow suit, thus they would walk through the Inn to their destination. Not that it was a hindrance in any way. Chamberlain would often find himself strolling through these halls especially when inspecting the state of the building, it was part of his job after all. "Mind your step," he said lightly as he led her up the stairs, "I suppose we can start while en route, I am the General Manager of the Well, Reaper No. 85172, you may call me 'Chamberlain'," He said as he led her round a corner, and down a grand hall towards Rogues office. "I know this is both sudden, and a bit unsettling, but you are a soul reaper now, chosen to help guide the dead through the afterlife," Chamberlain would say lightly, explaining at least the basic knowledge that the others already knew before arriving at Rogue's office. "Suffice to say, this means that you too have died," He said rather nonchalantly. He would have addressed such a thing with a bit more tact for any other soul, but reapers were blank slates, with no memories or attachments to the world, so they generally accepted such information without much pause.

Looking down at her as they approached a set of large ornate doors, he nodded his chin in her mask's direction before taking her any further. "That is a precious item, a powerful item, more so than anything you'll ever keep, be cautious, and keep it safe," He would say while pointing at his own mask for emphasis. "Here you will meet Rogue, the owner of this fine establishment. Everything in this region, in this Inn, comes through him, he leads us from the Well, and directs us on our missions. You will also be graced by our most highly ranked superior, One. Second only to Lady Death herself, she leads us all to complete our mission, and under her we fulfill our duty," Chamberlain smiled lightly as he turned towards the door, bringing his hand up and knocking loudly, and then waiting for permission for them to enter.

No sooner had she reached out her hand for the door than a man appeared in a cloud of shadows and smoke. In the haste of his appearance, she couldn't tell if he had appeared outside the door itself or if he'd merely opened it in a flashy and swift manner. She'd been startled enough by his sudden appearance to take a step back and raise her forearm over her eyes defensively, but he'd been gentle and courteous enough to wipe away any fear of hers just as suddenly as he'd appeared. For a brief moment when he began speaking, she wasn't sure he was speaking to her, as he addressed her as 'reaper', which wasn't familiar to her. However, with a glance around to her left and right, she surmised he must be referring to her as no one else was out here.

Reaper 193485 followed the man as he'd requested inside what he referred to as "The Wellspring Inn" and once again she was stunned by what she saw. As quiet and subtle as the pavement outside had been, in here was a whole new world of activity and sights. People wearing masks, people of all ages and sizes, some looking as plain as day, others with what were obviously grotesque wounds that didn't seem to notice or care they were there (mostly, there were a few still trying to come to terms with things). Her wandering gaze snapped back to the man she was following when he told her to mind her step. She had to hop a bit to keep up with him as she was still trying to absorb her surroundings while following his brisk pace.

Again, the lady was drawn away from the elegant surroundings and the distracting bustle of the inhabitants when he spoke and introduced himself. She was thankful the number he gave her was immediately followed by a name 'Chamberlain' as she would not have remembered the number sequence after hearing it so casually thrown out once. "Chamberlain" she whispered to herself as a means of mentally locking in the name with his face, which wasn't a difficult thing to do considering as many feelings as she had at the moment, there didn't seem to be too many memories filling up her headspace at this time. His next words were just as matter-of-fact as everything else had been, although more disconcerting than anything else he'd said or done so far. Not only was she dead, but she'd been selected to assist others who've died. It was almost poetic in it's irony, but rather than shaking her to her very core as one would expect, the information actually offered a bit of solace.

It was comforting to have a foundation of who or what she was rather than being disoriented and feeling a vast emptiness moments before. She had little time to relish in this comfort, however, as it appeared they'd reached their destination. She looked up at her taller companion as his gaze passed hers to the mask that she still clutched as a small child would a teddy bear. Her eyes followed his finger to his own mask perched upon his skull and she nodded sternly to let him know she both heard and understood the message of how important the mask was.

Chamberlain continued and told her she was about to be in the presence of two very important individuals: the owner and a supremely high ranked reaper. She looked down at her frilly skirt, tights, boots, corset, etc; and wondered if she was dressed appropriately for such an occasion. She nodded again. While he turned to the door, she raised her right hand and fussed a bit with her thick waves by running a few of her fingers through them and smoothed out her clothes from where she'd previously been sleeping in the car. She waited with baited breath as he knocked, announcing their presence to the VIPs.

Rogue looked up at Chamberlain when he interrupted him. Smirking a bit at his ‘Full Moon’ comment, he gave him a little nod of acknowledgement. Four new Reapers all in one go. There were two possible reasons for this, each of which foretold a sad state of affairs for the world. Regardless, it would be his responsibility to oversee their training and ensure that they were prepared to take on the tasks set before them.

“Not to get too ahead on the agenda, seeing as how we will be joined by another new Reaper, I’ll explain a bit about your situation.” There was a lot to go over, but Rogue knew that Chamberlain wouldn’t dawdle when it came to grabbing the newest addition to their team.

“Each of you will be assigned a room here at the Well. Your orientation and training will be overseen by myself and led by Chamberlain. There are a few skills you need to learn prior to taking on your new duties as Reapers. While you might be wondering why you can’t just jump right in, after all you are dead, not like you can die again, but just because you can’t die doesn’t mean you can’t feel pain. More than that, in certain circumstances your soul can be destroyed.” A fate reserved only for the most corrupt of souls.

Hearing the knock at the outer door, Rogue called for Chamberlain. “Enter.” Looking towards the door, Rogue nodded to Chamberlain and the new Reaper, another female. “Welcome Miss, please have a seat. My name is Rogue and I'm the owner of The Well. This is One, our Superior.” Once she was settled, Rogue got back to it. “As I was saying, you will each be assigned a room for the duration of your stay. Please consider The Well your new home.” They wouldn’t be permitted to live anywhere else anyway. “You will all report directly to Chamberlain, who will then report your progress to me. If you do anything to endanger yourself or your team you will deal with ME.” Something that none of them would enjoy. However, after one of those meetings, they’d never step out of line again.

One inclined her head to Chamberlain as he excused himself to fetch the latest Reaper. Arms crossed, One listened to Rogue as he gave a short overview of the accommodations at The Well and who the Reapers would report to. Chamberlain, efficient as always, arrived a short time later with the newest Reaper, another girl.

Rogue was exceedingly serious about the Reapers following the rules and being safe. She did not blame him for being strict. When a Reaper’s soul was destroyed in the line of duty, it was tragic. She and Rogue had lost more than a few courageous souls over the years, her more so than anyone. It was one of the worst feelings in the world, it was akin to losing a child; heartbreaking and devastating. Therefore, if they could prevent even one their Reaper’s souls from being destroyed by threatening a heavy punishment, then so be it.

“To give you a bit of perspective, there are Reapers all over the world to help guide souls to their final fate. Each region has a place like The Well that are overseen by an Owner like Rogue. This entire country is a Region and Rogue oversees it and Rogue reports to me. I oversee the world as a whole and act as a liaison with the Gods who determine the fates of all souls.” Ergo, she was the ‘Big Boss’ in terms of the Reapers.

“Your training is especially important, not only for your safety but for everyone. Take it seriously and do your best to master your skills. The sooner you prove yourself, the sooner you will rise through the ranks.” Some of them would become Hunters, others would take on other important roles to ensure that they reached their full potential.

“Rogue and Chamberlain are here to support and guide you. On occasion I will come by to check on your progress as well. “ She was leaving them all in Rogues very capable hands.

Reaching into her pocket, One withdrew four cards. Handing them over to Chamberlain, she gave him a little nod. The Reaper’s assigned numbers. Chamberlain would know what to do with the cards and the Reapers from here.

“I leave you in their capable hands. Looking to Rogue, she gave him a nod. “I'll see you soon, Rogue.” She gave another to Chamberlain before disappearing into thin air.

The white-haired man listened intently to the words being shared between the reapers. As Rogue was about to inform them of their situation here at The Well, Chamberlain briefly interrupted the superior, informing that “another” had just arrived. He wondered if it was another soul to be trained as a Reaper like themselves. He noted Rogue’s smirk as Chamberlain reference the full moon, piquing his curiosity further. Was there some significance regarding the full moon only the Reapers knew? Was there some significance regarding them and the full moon? Was it more a personal statement to Rogue himself? So many questions to be answered, but he supposed they would be answered in time much like everything was. Now that he was dead, and provided nothing worse happened to him due to a future mishap, he had plenty of time to learn more about these intriguing individuals. “Well…I suppose even being dead can have it’s advantages…” he pondered to himself.

His attention turned to the others who arrived with him and how they proceeded to conduct themselves. The youngster of the three seemed hesitant. Perhaps it was a hint of anxiety or uncertainty on how to feel about their current predicament, he couldn’t honestly say. At the same time, he supposed he couldn’t blame the lad, after all, having no memory of yourself, suddenly learning of the existence of reapers and that you were to become one of them could catch anyone off guard. He’d admit, even he was still slightly taken aback with it all. He then turned to the young woman, who seemed to focus completely on Rogue. Her eyes donned that of admiration as she seemed to be encapsulated with the reaper, almost swooning as she moved to take a seat. From the looks of it, it was a good thing the seat was there to catch her. Again, he supposed he couldn’t blame her. Rogue did seem the type to value a healthy lifestyle, just looking at him said as much. Where he in her shoes, he supposed he’d be captured by the sight of a strong male specimen as well.

His gaze shifted back to Rogue who informed them of what would occur during their stay. Their training was to be overseen by Rogue and led by Chamberlain. Furthermore, he explained that while as reapers they could not die, pain was not a burden that would be relieved so easily. More than that, if treading too carelessly, one may even find themselves in a position of their soul being destroyed. It seemed he now knew of the worser circumstance that could befall him if he wasn’t careful. The destruction of the soul certainly would mean the end of the line. Not that he planned on being careless in the first place, and upon knowing this, he certainly wasn’t one to arrange a meeting with nothingness any time soon.

A knock from the door would draw Rogue’s attention as he bid those on the other side to enter. Chamberlain then passed through bringing with him another young woman. She sported a dark dress, matching the colour of her hair and eyes. He observed them as they approached Rogue, who then relayed the same information to the young woman. The white-haired man nodded in acknowledgment as they entered.

Rogue went on to emphasise that carelessness was taken with the utmost seriousness. Should any of them act out in such a way that would endanger themselves or their colleagues, they would answer directly to him. Once more, the white-haired man nodded as Rogue spoke, indicating his understanding of the situation.

One’s voice drew his attention as she emphasised the importance of dedicating their time to honing their abilities and learning to grow and adapts in their new lives as reapers. The more skill and prowess they demonstrate, the more chances they will have to climb the ranks. Such information caught the white-haired man’s interest, though he would ponder on it another time. He would watch as One handed four cards to Chamberlain before taking her leave. With that, the white-haired man continued to listen.

Had she even seen him? The youth quirked an eyebrow and watched as the Platinum Blonde took a seat before allowing his vision to become unfocused as he pondered over his associate's lack of acknowledgement... Perhaps he'd been too subtle, or too late for his action to have registered? That or maybe she had just elected to ignore him...? Either way, he probably deserved it, having kept to himself from the moment he had awoken in the car... Deciding there was little point in fussing over the thought, he turned his attention towards Chamberlain who now excused himself from the room, mentioning another had been sent and something about the Full Moon before disappearing into thin air - He really needed to pay more attention, especially if he wanted to learn how to do that!

With the man gone, Rogue would pass the time by going into a little more detail about the group's 'situation' and explaining how they would each be assigned a room before he and Chamberlain commenced with their training. It was a relief to hear they would receive something in the form of instruction towards their new roles - the incident back in the Hall had given them all a little taste as to what they might come to expect - but having only just 'awoken' and with no immediate knowledge other than what he was learning now, he knew he would have to soak up every little bit of information possible or risk jumping into the deepest of oceans without even knowing how to float...

The knowledge that they were incapable of dying was already reassuring - and to hear it once again would have set most minds at ease - but as Rogue went on, the Lad's prior concerns were suddenly dragged back into light and worst of all, he now had the answer he had dreaded most to hear... To think they could be susceptible to any and all forms of 'pain' and not necessarily just those he had initially considered! There could be all manner of ways he could become injured, including those brought to mind following the 'fight that wasn't' back in the Hall only moments beforehand! With his young and nightmarishly vivid imagination, he could very well have scared himself witless with all the possible outcomes and 'mistakes' he could make carrying out whatever tasks lay ahead of them...but a knock upon the door was just enough of a distraction to pull him from his thoughts and the Youth's gaze would snap towards the entryway as it opened to reveal Chamberlain and the latest initiate.

Remembering he still had to breathe, the Lad inhaled a deep, yet hopefully unnoticeable breath before allowing his eyes to regard the female with a slight tilt of his head. Her attire was curious to him, the frilly skirt, her corset...he could only wonder where exactly she had come from, but then again it seemed that nobody could really choose what clothes they died in, right? He had to admit, as amusing as it would be to see, he would kinda feel sorry for the unfortunate that happened to die in one of those animal Onesies...but such was life...erm...death? Hiding his amusement at the thought behind his mask, his eyes followed her as she made her next move before flicking back towards Rogue as he continued with their introduction.

'My new home...' He wasn't sure what to make of that, but it made sense that they would need somewhere to crash at the end of the day - he presumed they slept? - and to have his Own Room just made things all the better! He couldn't even begin to consider what he could do to this 'room' before Rogue promptly ended the introduction with a firm word of warning... How exactly they could endanger themselves or their team was a mystery, but the Youth didn't doubt that it was indeed possible - especially now he knew Pain was going to be a very real consequence... Thankfully One seemed to take some of the sting out of the man's words as she chimed in to round up the session, but even then it was made perfectly clear that if he wanted to rise through the ranks and master his skills, he needed to take it all seriously lest he risk harm to the others, or even worse...Himself!

So this was it... With One now taking her leave of them it appeared their introduction was drawing to a close...? This must have meant that the group were just moments away from being allowed free roam of the place and more importantly, a chance to retrace their steps and investigate those locations they had passed earlier... Of course, when the moment arrived, he planned to leave in an 'orderly fashion' - be it just to maintain the composure he'd held up until now, but what drew his attention next was the motion that One made before she vanished... Tilting his head - in the opposite direction this time - he narrowed his eyes, trying to make out what the Female had handed to Chamberlain before lifting his gaze towards the man in question...

Sitting around in a comfortable room wasn't the worst way to spend eternity. As Rogue began to speak Chamberlain interrupted him and disappeared into thin air. The platinum blonde's eyes widened at the site. Could she learn to do that? Was that an ability or power they would all learn in time? Her excitement was clear on her face. But she quickly reigned herself in as Rogue once more began to speak. This was their home now and they would each get a room, Rogue would oversee their training and Chamberlain would take point on instructing them. Even though they were dead and couldn't die again, they could still feel pain and in dire situations even have their souls destroyed.

Gulping hard at that she didn't want to think about what that might entail. As he finished his statement there was a knock at the door. She assumed it was Chamberlain with the new Reaper. In stepped Chamberlain, and a pretty raven-haired woman. Her outfit was quite different from everyone else's but that wouldn't mean much here. She had assumed they all come from different places and showed up here in whatever it was they died in. Though this was unconfirmed information she did wish she had died in something more stylish.

With a slight shake of her head, she forced herself back to the conversation. They would report directly to Chamberlain and he would report to Rogue. Made sense since he was the boss but his warning made her take those words very seriously. After a short pause One chimed in too with more insightful knowledge. She would go on to explain the order of things and how they worked to a degree. In short, if Rogue was the boss, she was the CEO. She acted as a liaison for the gods themselves! Before she could really register what One had just said she immediately honed back in on One.

One would finish by reiterating that their training was extremely important and to take it seriously. She even mentioned potentially rising through the ranks, which piqued the young woman's interest quite a bit. How many ranks were there? Did they each get to do different things or did they just get special privileges at certain ranks? The questions were endless but she doubted they'd get answered here. She was so focused on the potential questions that she missed the last bit of One's speech and caught her biding them farewell and also disappearing into thin air. So now it was the four new reapers, and their new bosses.

The meeting between One and the newly recruited would be fairly brief, but Chamberlain would stand aside and listen intently none the less, as he did for every other recruit that came under him in the past. He would take heart every word given by One, even if he had heard it a thousand times before. When she withdrew several cards from thin air, holding them out to Chamberlain, he quickly stepped over and took them graciously, bowing before stepping back and looking to the new reapers as she finished her words and disappeared.

Chamberlain would then step before them, stepping in front of each one of them one by one, and holding the cards up towards them. Whenever he held up the group of cards, one would start to glow, and he would take it and hold it out for the Reaper to take, before moving onto the next. "These cards obtain your assigned Reaper Numbers, please take a moment to learn them, and remember them..." He would say as he gave a moment to each of them to learn their own Reaper Number. The card itself was a simple card with a very ornate font, with only two things written on the front side. Their individual Reaper Numbers, and some kind of code below on each of their cards marked S1. "I'm sure you are curious, and you would be correct to think that your Reaper Number corresponds directly with the order with which you were officially made a Reaper by Lady Death herself, which is why these numbers act as your official Names and Titles within the organization." he said before looking back at Rogue.

"Officially, our fearless leader is Reaper No. 72876, and I am Reaper No. 85172," He would continue as he looked back towards the reapers with a smile. "Of course, that is not to say that we are not allowed a moniker, or designation if you will, Rogue, and Chamberlain, respectfully." He would say while holding his hand out in emphasis to Rogue and then himself. "You are allowed, and even encouraged to give yourself a name, but your official Name and Number is what you must use whenever reporting in an official capacity, whether orally or written." He said before turning to Rogue and bowing lightly, affirming his leave before heading towards the door.

"If you'll follow me please, we shall get started with your training immediately," Chamberlain would say while holding the door open for the four reapers. Once each of them had exited the office, Chamberlain would exit as well, nodding his head at Rogue again lightly before shutting the door and leading the four reapers down the halls. "I'm sure some of you, if not all, will have questions. I will be happy to answer them to the best of my ability, you may ask at anytime, all I ask is that you are courteous in your timing, and that you try not to interrupt in the middle of an explanation." Chamberlain would say before holding his hand out in a direction down the halls.

"Now, there are a few important things you must learn, as well as some fundamental skills you must master before you can be considered a full fledged Reaper, and are able to start taking assignments. In the meantime, you will be working in pairs, and handling light assignments under my direct supervision. Of course, a tour of the Wellspring Inn is also in line with your training, so I will afford you the opportunity to choose, we can charge headlong into training, or we can take the tour first, what would be pleasure?" He would ask again with a smile. It might have been a bit eerie how kind and professional Chamberlain would present himself considering the circumstances, but Chamberlain had always had a very pleasant and proper demeanor, even when he was performing the most gruesome of tasks. For most, it was a pleasant and cherished experience, until it wasn't...
