After winning two battles against Sága on days that went back to back, Einarr was half-expecting her to show up on the third day demanding another rematch. She'd said that she would challenge him again and honestly, he was looking forward to it. Lady Luck was on his side - not that he needed it. He was a three duels away from winning the Champions furs and was eager to strut around the pack camp as their first Champion.
He spent many happy nights with Silke before they fell asleep, talking about the legacy they would create together. They'd been trying for pups since before the fishing season. They would continue to try, of course, to continue the noble lineage, but Einarr did pose the sentiment of becoming Champion before any pups were born. He wanted his sons and daughters to feel proud of their father, the Champion, the Monster Hunter, the Knight. Banisher of villains and catcher of catfish alike! He'd laughed at that, his own bravado catching up to him and he and his mate had slept at last.
Days passed and he heard nothing from the vixen-colored lady who had challenged him. Maybe she'd decided against dueling, opting more towards hunting like the rest of the peasants in her rank. After seven days had passed, he began to look for other opponents, going so far as to challenge his cousin, returned from who knew where, to a duel. Before he could see that duel to fruition, however, Sága snuck up on him.
Two days later, they were facing off against one another one the dueling grounds. How many times had they been here? How many times would he continue duel with her? He moved in to attack
