Bulma has been taking Whis to lunch for a while now, and yet, she hasn't shown him instant ramen, which Vegeta does in exchange for lessons. Vegeta plans to surpass Kakkorot at all costs.

Goku overhears Bulma talking about Vegeta training and cannot resist going to train too. He even gets pestery about it. Eventually, he gets his way though. And Chichi gets to have that baby shower after all because Bulma has offered to help.

The training begins and it is tougher than Goku imagined and once again Vegeta is upset that Kakkorot has come to show him up again.

Some servants of Frieza wish to bring Frieza back from the dead, meanwhile Goku and Vegeta are told of their weaknesses by Whis and are now training to overcome them. When the servants of Frieza succeed in bringing Frieza back to life, they are stunned by the power Frieza has. But what will Frieza do now that he is back?

Frieza trains and gets stronger and then heads to earth for his revenge. Due to a galactic police man name Jaco, he warns Bulma that in an hour Frieza will arrive with 1000 plus men to destroy the planet. Unfortunately, Goku and Vegeta are still training with Whis so it will take a miracle to beat this evil force.

The fight for earth begins and the army of frieza has greatly been weakened since Frieza's absence. The z fighters pick them apart until Tagoma shoots down one of his own men as well as Gohan. Gohan isn't out of it yet, though since eating a senzu bean.

The dimension that Goku and Vegeta have been sent to is a lot like the Hyperbolic time chamber. Ginyu gets out of the frog body and into Tagoma's where he pounds the poo out of Gohan until Gohan goes Super saiyan. That's when Frieza begins tormenting Gohan until Piccolo saves Gohan once more by jumping in front of a death beam.

Thanks to the fact that Beerus wanting more Pizza, Goku and Vegeta got the message that Earth was in trouble because of Frieza. Gohan powered up so that his dad could lock onto his energy. But the strain was too much on Gohan's body and Gohan passed out. Just as Frieza was about to kill Gohan, Goku arrived and stopped the blast. Vegeta killed Ginyu and now Goku will face Frieza in another showdown.

After the fight takes too long for Vegeta's liking, Vegeta beats on Kakkorot for being a sluggish worm and not showing the full power from the start. So, Goku promises to go all out this time and shows that he has become a super saiyan blue now.

Frieza powers up to his golden form and proves to be quite the handful to deal with. Goku is beginning to have his doubts that he can even beat Frieza, which doesn't bode well for the earth.

Goku becomes overconfident when he gets the upper hand, drops his guard and therefore was about to be finished when Vegeta jumps in claiming that it is his turn.

When Vegeta took his turn, the earth blew up because Frieza grew desperate. Then Whis did a do-over and Goku used a Kamehameha before Frieza could destroy the planet. A celebration is held and Gohan wishes to train again so that he can protect his family.

Lord Champa meets up with Lord Beerus and proposes a universal tournament and the winner gets 6 wish orbs the size of planets. Goku wants in and so does Vegeta. And so Beerus agrees.

Bulma makes a super dragon radar capable of finding the super dragon balls, but Goku and Vegeta are more concerned with this tournament.

Goku and Vegeta do a little recruiting and they get Buu, Krillin, and Piccolo to join them.
